Ultrasound-assisted intensified aqueous extraction of phenolics from waste Syzygium cumini leaves:Kinetic studies and evaluation of antioxidant,antidiabetic and anticancer potential

This is the first report illustrating the extraction of total phenolic compounds(TPC)using the ultrasound-assisted aqueous extraction(USAE)technique from waste Syzygium cumini leaves(WSCL).A kinetic study indicated that Peleg’s model was appropriately fitted to the experimental data when the effect of different parameters was checked on extraction with respect to *** yields of total phenolic contents(TPC)and total flavonoid contents(TFC)were 78.38 mg GAE/g,and 10.15 mg CE/g,respectively,at optimized parameters of 1:25 WSCL:water,35℃ temperature,134 W power,50%duty cycle and in 9 min of sonication *** yields of TPC and TFC obtained by 5 sequential stirred batch extraction were 79.36 mg GAE/g and 10 mg CE/g,*** cost and energy requirement of the USAE process was around 3000 times less than that of the Soxhlet *** images showed the changes in the morphology of the WSCL surface area before and after ultrasonic *** analysis showed the presence of O-H,N-H,C-H,C=C,and halogenated functional *** obtained WSCL extract showed antioxidant potential with an IC_(50) value of 15.64μg/***_(50) values of extract forα-amylase andα-glucosidase inhibitions were 8.3 and 6.64μg/*** activity against breast,cervical,and lung cancer showed the potential with GI50 values 252.8,112.5,and 97.8μg/mL,*** extract of Syzygium cumini leaves can be used to treat oxidative stress,diabetes,and cancer.

Optogenetics allows for optical manipulation of neuronal activity and has been increasingly combined with intracellular and extracellular electrophysiological ***-identified classes of neurons are optically manipulated,though the versatility of optogenetics would be increased if independent control of distinct neural populations could be achieved on a sufficient spatial and temporal *** report a scalable multisite optoelectrode design that allows simultaneous optogenetic control of two spatially intermingled neuronal populations in *** describe the design,fabrication,and assembly of low-noise,multisite/multicolor *** shank of the four-shank assembly is monolithically integrated with 8 recording sites and a dualcolor waveguide mixer with a 7×30μm cross-section,coupled to 405 nm and 635 nm injection laser diodes(ILDs)via gradient-index(GRIN)lenses to meet optical and thermal design *** better understand noise on the recording channels generated during diode-based activation,we developed a lumped-circuit modeling approach for EMI coupling mechanisms and used it to limit artifacts to amplitudes under 100μv upto an optical output power of 450μ*** implanted the packaged devices into the CA1 pyramidal layer of awake mice,expressing Channelrhodopsin-2 in pyramidal cells and ChrimsonR in paravalbumin-expressing interneurons,and achieved optical excitation of each cell type using sub-mW *** highlight the potential use of this technology for functional dissection of neural circuits.
