In this paper, probabilistic models for three redundant configurations have been developed to analyze and compare some reliability characteristics. Each system is connected to a repairable supporting external device for operation. Repairable service station is provided for immediate repair of failed unit. Explicit expressions for mean time to system failure and steady-state availability for the three configurations are developed. Furthermore, we compare the three configurations based on their reliability characteristics and found that configuration II is more reliable and efficient than the remaining configurations.

Serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma is a putative precursor of high-grade serous carcinoma, which is the most common histological type of ovarian or pelvic peritoneal cancer. Serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma is commonly found in patients with breast cancer susceptibility gene mutations who undergo risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy. Incidental serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma found by a non-prophylactic surgery is rare. A 33-year-old woman referred to our hospital for a diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. She underwent a laparoscopic right salpingectomy. Pathologically, ectopic pregnancy in the ampulla of the right fallopian tube was confirmed and serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma was observed in the fallopian tube. Subsequently, she underwent a laparoscopic hysterectomy, bilateral oophorectomy, and left salpingectomy as additional treatment. She has experienced no recurrence thus far for 37 months since the surgery.

Multi-disciplinary Conceptual Design Knowledge of Multi-stage Hybrid Rocket Using Data Mining Technique

This paper deals with the application of data mining techniques to the conceptual design knowledge for a LV （launch vehicle） with a HRE （hybrid rocket engine）. This LV is a concept of the space transportation, which can deliver micro-satellite to the SSO （sun-synchronous orbit）. To design the higher performance LV with HRE, the optimum size of each component, such as an oxidizer tank containing liquid oxidizer, a combustion chamber containing solid fuel, a pressurizing tank and a nozzle, should be acquired. The Kriging based ANOVA （analysis of variance） and SOM （self-organizing map） are employed as data mining techniques for knowledge discovery. In this study, the paraffin （FT-0070） is used as a propellant of HRE. Then, the relationship among LV performances and design variables are investigated through the analysis and the visualization. To calculate the engine performance, the regression rate is computed based on an empirical expression. The design knowledge is extracted for the design knowledge of the multi-stage LV with HRE by analysis using ANOVA and SOM. As a result, the useful design knowledge on the present design problem is obtained to design HRE for space transportation.

Advancement of the information society has proceeded with the development of information and communication technology, and a demand on a data center has increased. In such a situation, the number of servers is increasing in a data center. Thus, the heat density in a data center is much higher than that of usual offices. And typically, almost 40% of the total power consumption is used for cooling servers in a data center. Thus, cooling effectiveness is one of the most important factors in evaluating the value of the data center. The data center taken up in this paper is located in Ishikari, where is a cold district in Japan. Using the cool outdoor air for cooling servers helps us to cut the power consumption for cooling. This paper first assesses the efficiency of Ishikari data center measuring the temperature of seven parts in a building where the cooling air flowing. Second, this paper describes the most efficient method for the operation and estimates 1.11 of PUE （power usage effectiveness）.

SrTiO3 (STO) thin films of different thicknesses were deposited on MgAl2O4 (MAO) substrates to investigate the in-plane strain effect on the soft-mode frequency of the STO films. X-ray reciprocal space mapping (X-RSM) results indicate that there was no relaxation of the in-plane lattice strain of the STO films on MAO. Shifts in the soft-mode frequencies with a decrease in the film thickness were observed using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). However, despite the larger lattice mismatch between STO and MAO than that between STO and DyScO3 (DSO), the shifts in the soft-mode frequencies of the STO films on MAO were smaller than those on DSO. The results indicate that the soft-mode frequencies of the STO films on MAO are affected by the c-axis (out-of-plane) lengths.

AIM To clarify the histological changes associated with liver atrophy after percutaneous transhepatic portalembolization(PTPE) in pigs and humans. METHODS As a preliminary study, we performed pathological examinations of liver specimens from five pigs that had undergone PTPE in a time-dependent model of liver atrophy. In specimens from embolized lobes(EMB) and nonembolized lobes(controls), we measured the portal vein to central vein distance(PV-CV), the area and number of hepatocytes per lobule, and apoptotic activity using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dU TP nickend labeling assay. Immunohistochemical reactivities were evaluated for light chain 3(LC3) and lysosomal-associated membrane protein 2(LAMP2) as autophagy markers and for glutamine synthetase and cytochrome P450 2 E1(CYP2 E1) as metabolic zonation markers. Samples from ten human livers taken 20-36 d after PTPE were similarly examined. RESULTS PV-CVs and lobule areas did not differ between EMB and controls at day 0, but were lower in EMB than in controls at weeks 2, 4, and 6(P ≤ 0.001). Hepatocyte numbers were not significantly reduced in EMB at day 0 and week 2 but were reduced at weeks 4 and 6(P ≤ 0.05). Apoptotic activity was higher in EMB than in controls at day 0 and week 4. LC3 and LAMP2 staining peaked in EMB at week 2, with no significant difference between EMB and controls at weeks 4 and 6. Glutamine synthetase and CYP2 E1 zonation in EMB at weeks 2, 4, and 6 were narrower than those in controls. Human results were consistent with those of porcine specimens. CONCLUSION The mechanism of liver atrophy after PTPE has two histological phases: Hepatocellular atrophy is likely caused by autophagy in the first 2 wk and apoptosis thereafter.

An initial burst is often observed during the release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from poly-lactic-coglycolic-acid (PLGA) microparticles (MPs) which have been prepared by the emulsion-solvent evaporation method. Herein, we describe the development of a simple one-step coating method that suppresses the initial burst release process. This new method involves coating the PLGA-MPs with PLGA, with the coating process being performed through the phase separation of PLGA on the surface of PLGA-MPs using the emulsion-solvent evaporation method. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) was encapsulated in the PLGA-MPs as a model API. The coated MPs were spherical in shape with no pores on their smooth surface, whereas the non-coated PLGA-MPs had porous surfaces. An in vitro release study showed that the residual levels of BSA in the coated and non-coated PLGA-MPs after 1 h were about 99% and 16% of the original loads, respectively. The one-step coating method therefore represents a useful method for preparing PLGA-MPs that do not give an initial burst release of proteinaceous APIs.

Strength of Thin-Walled Lipped Channel Section Columns with Shell-Shaped Curved Grooves

Thin-walled member is structurally superior to a construction member. However, by reason of complexity in structure the stress and the deformation to yield the cross section are complicated. Specially, in case thin-walled members, such as thin-walled channel section columns, which are subjected to compressive force, these members produce the local buckling, distortional buckling and overall buckling. A number of experimental and theoretical investigations subjected to axial compressive force are generated for thin-walled channel section columns with triangle-shaped folded groove by Hancock [1] and with complex edge stiffeners and web stiffeners by Wang [2]. In case thin-walled channel section column with folded groove which is subjected to axial compressive force, it is cleared that the buckling mode shapes are ordinarily generated for local buckling mode shape of plate-panel composing cross section of member in short member aspect ratio and overall buckling mode shape as column and distortional buckling mode shape interacting between local buckling and overall buckling similarly normal thin-walled member. It is cleared analytically and experimentally that buckling strength and critical strength of thin-walled channel section column with folded groove can increase sharply in comparison with that of normal thin-walled member composing only plate-panel. In this paper a new cross section of shell-shaped curved groove [3] was proposed instead of the thin-walled lipped channel section column with triangle- and rectangle-shaped folded grooves used ordinarily, and therefore the comparison and the examination of buckling strength and buckling behavior were generated in the case of preparing triangle-shaped folded and shell-shaped curved grooves to web and flange of thin-walled channel section column. ASET, Association of Super-advanced Electronics Technologies, has been taking the initiative in developing EUV lithography technology in Japan for the past three years. The aspherical mirror metrology using a visible light point diffraction interferometer (PDI), the wave front measurement using an at-wavelength PDI, and an at wavelength reflectometry for multilayers, various imaging simulations, multilayer coatings for the mask, the development of absorber materials for mask patterning, the mask substrate cleaning technique, and various photoresist processes have been developed. The visible light PDI employs a 0.5-μm pinhole as an aperture to generate an ideal spherical wave front and can measure a 0.3-N A mirror maximum. The at-wavelength PDI can measure the wave front error of the projection optics. The at-wavelength reflectometer can measure the reflectivity of multilayers and the round-robin test is taking place among ASET, the ALS in Lawrence Berkeley, and BESSY in Germany. The mask cleaning technique employs a supersonic hydro-cleaning technique. We have confirmed that the single layer resists can be used for EUV lithography.

A Case of Huge Fibroma in the Palate

Fibroma-like lesions occur with relatively high frequency in oral soft tissues, but represent reactive proliferation against chronic irritation. True fibromas are rare. Tumor size is often seen to range from the mass of a red bean to a soybean. We encountered a case of huge fibroma in the palate with a long history of more than 30 years. The patient was a 60-year-old man who became aware of a tumor in the right palate about 30 years earlier. The mass had tended to increase in size in recent years, and was introduced to our department for the first visit. As an intraoral finding, a pedicled mass measuring 29 × 27 mm was found in the right palate. We also considered the possibility of verrucous carcinoma, and performed biopsy, obtaining a diagnosis of fibroma. Right palatectomy was performed under general anesthesia in October 2016. We performed immunohistochemical examination of the surgical specimen, obtaining a definitive diagnosis of fibroma. As of 1 year postoperatively, no recurrence has been identified and the course has been good.
