Background Neuropathological diagnosis of argyrophilic grain disease(AGD)is currently based primarily on the combination of argyrophilic grain(AG)visualized using Gallyas-Braak silver staining,phosphorylated tau-positive pretangles,coiled bodies,and ballooned neuron *** AGD is common in patients with dementia and/or prominent psychiatric symptoms,whether it is a distinct neurological disease entity or a by-product of the aging process remains *** In 1449 serial forensic autopsy cases>40 years old(823 males and 525 females,aged 40-101 years,mean age 70.0±14.1 years),we examined the frequency and comorbid pathology of AGD cases and investigated the clini-cal appearance by comparing those with non-AGD cases using the propensity *** Of the 1449 cases,we detected 342 AGD cases(23.6%;mean age 79.7 years;177 males and 165 females).The AGD frequency and stage increased with age(P<0.001).Among AGD cases,80(23.4%)patients had dementia,and 51(15.2%)had a history of psychiatric hospital *** frequency of suicide and history of psychiatric disorders were significantly higher in AGD cases than in AGD-negative cases,matched for age,sex,and comorbidity pathol-ogy,with a relative risk of suicide of 1.72(1.30-2.26).The frequency of suicide was significantly higher in AGD cases than in non-AGD cases in female but not male *** relative risk of suicide increased to 2.27(1.20-4.30)and 6.50(1.58-26.76)in AGD patients with Lewy and progressive supranuclear palsy pathology,respectively,and decreased to 0.88(0.38-2.10)in those with advanced AD *** AGD cases,23.4%had dementia;however,the difference was not significant after controlling for age,sex,and comorbid *** Our study demonstrated that AGD is a significant and isolated risk factor for psychiatric hospital visits and suicide *** older adults,AGs may contribute to the progression of functional impairment of the limbic system,which leads to psychiatric dis

High-order harmonic generation(HHG)is currently utilized for developing compact table-top radiation sources to provide highly coherent extreme ultraviolet(XUV)and soft X-ray pulses;however,the low repetition rate of fundamental lasers,which is typically in the multi-kHz range,restricts the area of application for such HHG-based radiation ***,we demonstrate a novel method for realizing a MHz-repetition-rate coherent XUV light source by utilizing intracavity HHG in a mode-locked oscillator with an Yb:YAG thin disk laser medium and a 100-m-long ring *** have successfully implemented HHG by introducing two different rare gases into two separate foci and picking up each HH *** to the two different HH beams generated from one cavity,this XUV light source will open a new route to performing a time-resolved measurement with an XUV-pump and XUV-probe scheme at a MHzrepetition rate with a femtosecond resolution.

The population which could not access to electricity was around 1.2 billion in 2010 and is distributed in many low developing countries. With the increase in the population and the economic growth in those countries, waste generation is growing rapid especially for the organic and the plastic, and the uncontrolled waste disposal is becoming more serious issues to manage it. The interest on waste to energy is growing by the above drivers. This research was carried out for aiming to the real world adaption at the minimum cost of the pyrolysis oil from waste biomass in a diesel engine, mainly for electricity generation. The proposal of the appropriate adaptable blend ratio was the major scope rather than the optimization of the engine parameters. For the sake of it, the pyrolysis oil of the waste biomass was produced from a gasification pilot plant in Japan and blended with biodiesel at minimum effort. A small single cylinder diesel engine （direct injection） was used for the experiment with regard to full load power-output, exhaust emissions and fuel consumption.

Interaction of calcium- and integrin-binding protein 1 with integrin <i>α</i>11 and its possible involvement in pulmonary fibrosis

Integrin α11 (ITGA11) is one of the collagen-binding integrin α chains;however, its biological significance remains unknown. To determine the functions of ITGA11, we performed a yeast two-hybrid screen using the cytoplasmic domain of ITGA11 as bait and transformed an EGY48 yeast strain with the bait-containing plasmid using the plasmid from a human lung fibroblast cDNA library. This screen identified calcium- and integrin-binding protein 1 (CIB1) as prey. Recombinant ITGA11 and CIB1 were expressed in mammalian cells and used in coimmunoprecipitation experiments, which showed that full-length ITGA11 and CIB1 are also associated in vivo. Over-expression of CIB1 in the human lung myofibroblast MRC-5 cells decreased the expression of α-smooth muscle actin and fibronectin. Using a mouse model of pulmonary fibrosis (bleomycin-treatment), we detected elevated expression of CIB1 in lung tissues compared with controls. These data suggest that CIB1 may regulate pulmonary fibrosis in concert with IT-GA11.

In this study,we explored the deformation mechanisms of Mg single crystals using a combination of scanning electron microscopy and electron backscattered diffraction in conjunction with a dedicated four-point bending *** prepared two single-crystal samples,oriented along theanddirections,to assess the mechanisms of deformation when the initial basal slip was *** thesample,the primary{1012}twin(T1)was confirmed along thedirection of the sample on the compression side with an increase in bending *** thesample,T1 and the secondary twin(T2)were confirmed to be along thedirection,with an orientation of±60°with respect to the bending stress direction,and their direction matched with(0001)in T1 and *** result implies that crystallographically,the basal slip occurs *** addition,thesample showed the double twin in T1 on the compression side and the tertiary twin along thedirection on the tension *** results demonstrated that the maximum bending stress and displacement changed significantly under the bend loading because the deformation mechanisms were different for these single ***,the correlation between bending behavior and twin orientation was determined,which would be helpful for optimizing the bending properties of Mg-based materials.

Increasing the yield is one of the most important goals of crop *** the beginning of rice cultivation thousands of years ago,many efforts have been made to increase rice *** of the successes in this history was the Green *** tremendous improvement in the 1960s was achieved by increasing rice and wheat production through the development and widespread adoption of semi-dwarf varieties with the extensive use of fertilizers(Hedden,2003).Dwarfism in crops lowers the center of gravity of the plant body,reducing the risk of lodging and enabling farmers to use more fertilizer to increase ***-dwarf mutations in both rice and wheat created during the Green Revolution are related to the plant growth hormone gibberellin(GA).Although other mechanisms cause dwarf mutants,only GA-related semi-dwarf mutants were selected during the Green Revolution(Wang et al.,2021).While GA-related abnormalities only make plants shorter,most cases caused by other mechanisms involve not only dwarfism but also other morphological abnormalities.

Numerical Study of a Three-Dimensional Laminar Flow in a Rectangular Channel with a 180-Degree Sharp Turn

This study presents a numerical analysis of three-dimensional steady laminar flow in a rectangular channel with a 180-degree sharp turn. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved by using finite difference method for Re = 900. Three-dimensional streamlines and limiting streamlines on wall surface are used to analyze the three-dimensional flow characteristics. Topological theory is applied to limiting streamlines on inner walls of the channel and two-dimensional streamlines at several cross sections. It is also shown that the flow impinges on the end wall of turn and the secondary flow is induced by the curvature in the sharp turn.
