Spatio-temporal characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in different landform areas with a case study in Northeast China

Assessing the temporal and spatial characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation is necessary to identify management practices that can reduce negative environmental ***,the purpose of this study was to use principal component analysis and spatial autocorrelation to analyze the dynamic characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in different landform areas in Liaoning Province,China,in terms of time and *** additional objective was to match the changes with the natural and social environment to support the sustainable development of fragmented cultivated *** results indicated that the evolutionary trends of cultivated land fragmentation in the central plain area showed a weakening trend,contrary to those observed in the western hilly and eastern mountainous ***,the spatial distribution characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in the western hilly area were generally“external low,internal high,”primarily because of the edge density of cultivated land *** spatial distribution characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in the central plain area were generally“external high,internal low,”primarily because of the number and division of cultivated land *** spatial distribution characteristics of cultivated land fragmentation in the eastern mountainous area were generally“south low,north high”because of the division of cultivated land *** results can provide guidelines for planners,managers,decision-makers and others to formulate regulatory policies,identify land remediation areas,and promote the sustainable development of cultivated land.

Owing to increasing traffic and the need for constructing second tunnel tubes including corresponding cross-passages,where only one tube existed thus far,sampling of tunnel-lining materials with an age of 30–40 years has been made *** and in situ tests were carried out to evaluate the long-term effects of the tunnel *** paper presents the outcomes regarding the long-term behav-ior of support elements and membranes after performing strength tests on inner and outer lining concrete samples,flat jack tests,rock bolt tests,and tests on re-extracted sheet membranes,as well as ***,the interface connection mechanical behavior in a double-shell-lined tunnel was investigated with laboratory *** aim of this research was to determine the characteristics of sheet membranes and geotextiles in the case of reduced load-bearing capacity caused by degradation of the primary *** results provide information on the load-sharing effects of the interaction between the primary and secondary lining,depending on the waterproofing sheet membrane and geotextile *** on the results,conclusions for new design approaches for underground infrastructure construction can be formulated.

This work reports on the development of pastes containing Ti,TiC,Si,and C elementary powders for in situ synthesis of Ti3SiC2 via screen *** paste compositions were manufactured using two powder mixtures(Ti/Si/C and Ti/TiC/Si/C)with different *** pastes were screen printed onto Al2O3 substrates and sintered at 1400℃in argon varying the dwell time from 1 to 5 *** printed pastes containing TiC and excess of Si exhibited the lowest surface roughness and after 5 h sintering comprised of Ti3SiC2 as the majority *** electrical conductivity of this sample was found to range from 4.63×10^(4)to 2.57×10^(5)S·m^(-1)in a temperature range of 25-400℃.

Land Use Change and Causes in the Xiangxi Catchment, Three Gorges Area Derived from Multispectral Data

The construction of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River has extensive impact on the ecosystems and the population of the Three Gorges Area （TGA）. Inundation and resettlement have induced far-reaching land use and land cover change （LUCC）. The areas that are affected by measures of resettlement are in a tense situation between the implementation of various governmental tasks addressing sustainable land use and water retention and the fulfilment of the population＇s economic needs, which primarily depend on agricultural production. Destabilization of slopes and soil erosion are immediate hazards induced by the impoundment. Farming is a very important source of income and has to persist on the one hand to assure the income of the rural population. On the other hand, the environment has to be protected from runoff, soil erosion and instabilities connected to relief, geology and hydraulic influences. In this study, supervised classifications are performed using Landsat-TM （1987 and 2007） and ASTER （2007） images. LUCC is assessed by post-classification change analysis. On the catchment scale, arable land has decreased significantly, while garden land （citrus orchards） and woodland have increased. LUCC mainly affects the area surrounding the reservoir （＂backwater＂） of the Xiangxi （香溪） River, driven by local resettlement, newly built infrastructure, relocation of land cultivation, and conversion of arable land to garden land. In the hinterland, LUCC occurs in form of abandonment of land cultivation as a consequence of the Grain-forGreen programme.

The number of particulate delivery systems for biologics is negligible compared to liquid dosage forms, signifying the complications associated with development of solid protein delivery systems. Particulate protein delivery systems can improve stability, reduce viscosity of suspensions at high protein concentration and allow for controlled drug release. This review discusses current advances in controlled delivery of particulate protein formulations. While the focus lies on protein crystals and delivery systems employing protein crystals,amorphous protein particles will also be addressed. Crystallization and precipitations methods and modifications allowing controlled delivery with and without encapsulation are summarized and discussed.

With the improvements of sanitation and nationwide safe water supply the occurrence of bacterial diarrhea declined remarkably,while viruses became the leading causes of acute gastroenteritis(AGE).Of these viruses,noroviruses(NoVs)are responsible for a considerable burden of gastroenteritis,especially in children<2 years and elderly≥65 *** circulating in the Chinese population are antigenically highly diverse with the genotype GII.4 being the dominant strain followed by *** the widespread contamination in environmental sources,and highly infectious nature of NoVs,vaccination would be the desirable strategy for the control of NoV ***,a better understanding of acquired immunity after infection,and a reliable immunological surrogate marker are urgently needed,since two vaccine candidates based on virus-like particles(VLPs)are currently moving into clinical evaluations in China.

Treatment of biliary tract cancer with NVP-AEW541:Mechanisms of action and resistance

AIM:To investigate in vitro treatment with NVPAEW541,a small molecule inhibitor of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor(IGF-1R),in biliary tract cancer (BTC),since this disease is associated with a poor prognosis due to wide resistance to chemotherapeutic agents and ***:Cell growth inhibition by NVP-AEW541 was studied in vitro in 7 human BTC cell lines by automated cell *** addition,the anti-tumoral mechanism of NVP-AEW541 was studied by Western blotting,cell cycle analysis and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Anti-tumoral drug effect in combination with gemcitabine,5-fluorouracil(5-FU)and Polo-like kinase 1 inhibitor BI2536 was also studied. RESULTS:In vitro treatment with NVP-AEW541 suppressed growth in all human BTC cell lines,however response was lower in gallbladder *** withNVP-AEW541 was associated with dephosphorylation of IGF-1R and *** contrast,phosphorylation of p42/p44 and Stat3 and expression of Bcl-xL were inconsistently *** addition,treated cells showed cell cycle arrest at the G1/S-checkpoint and an increase in sub-G1 ***,IGF-1R and its ligands IGF-1 and IGF-2 were co-expressed in RT-PCR,suggesting an autocrine loop of tumor cell *** with gemcitabine,NVP-AEW541 exerted synergistic effects, particularly at low concentrations,while effects of combination with 5-FU or BI 2536 were only additive. CONCLUSION:Our findings suggest that NVP-AEW541 is active against BTC in vitro and potentiates the efficacy of gemcitabine.
