BACKGROUND An infected hepatic cyst causes clinical symptoms,such as fever and abdominal pain.A cyst with a diameter>10 cm increases the likelihood of exclusion symptoms in adjacent ***,we report a case of pancreatitis caused by an infected hepatic *** SUMMARY The patient was an 88-year-old woman with a history of polycystic liver disease and a cyst>10 cm in *** was referred to our hospital for upper abdominal pain that persisted for four days before *** had a fever of 37.4℃,and a blood test showed a C-reactive protein level of 23 mg/*** infected hepatic cyst was diagnosed by abdominal ultrasonography,computed tomography,and magnetic resonance *** therapy and percutaneous cyst puncture did not elicit sufficient therapeutic *** the cyst growth continued,laparoscopic hepatic cyst fenestration was performed on hospitalization day ***,symptoms improved,and she was discharged on hospital day *** To our knowledge,this is the second case report of pancreatitis associated with hepatic cyst *** cyst puncture and drainage or surgical therapy can be considered if a slight improvement with antibiotic therapy alone or exclusion of surrounding organs is ***,attention is needed to avoid potential recurrence.

The hollow cylindrical culm is one of the most remarkable morphological characters of most bamboo *** relation to its hollow structure,there are two different attributes of the culm volume in bamboo:the apparent culm volume(va:the total culm volume including the hollow portion)and the woody culm volume(vw:the volume of the woody walls of the culm).The ratio of vw to va is defined as the reduction factor for culm volume(fv).The quantity fv is useful to quantify the biomass resources of bamboo culms as well as to evaluate the carbon stock of bamboo ***,the direct measurement of fv requires destructive sampling,which consumes time and ***,an alternative method for obtaining fv is *** this study,we examined fv in five species of the genus Phyllostachys and proposed alternative methods to estimate *** data showed that fv varied by species,some of which exhibited a dependency of fv on culm *** findings indicate that the intraspecific and interspecific variation in fv should be considered carefully when converting va into vw by *** on our results,we propose here six approaches for predicting fv and we discuss their advantages and *** results are intended to facilitate evaluation of the carbon sequestration capacity of bamboo forests and the commercial utilization of bamboo culms.

The nucleation and precipitation of Mn-containing dispersoids in an Al-Mg-Si-Mn alloy （6082） have been studied by optical microscopy,EPMA （electron probe microanalysis） and TEM （transmission electron microscopy）.The influence of Mn-containing dispersoids on the recrystallization behavior was also *** size and distribution of dispersoids were strongly affected by both the homogenization process and the alloying element distribution formed in the direct chill cast *** Mn-containing dispersoids were observed to nucleate preferentially on the β-Mg 2 Si phase and to be aligned along the 〈100〉 direction of the *** cold deformation,the morphology of dispersoids greatly influences the recrystallization and grain growth behavior in the annealing process.

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) was examined to detect a trace substance adhered onto Al alloys for the surface inspection of materials to be adhesively bonded. As an example of Si contamination, silicone oil was employed and sprayed onto substrates with a controlled surface concentration. LIBS measurements employing nanosecond UV pulses(λ?=?266 nm) and an off-axis emission collection system with different detecting heights were performed. Because surface contaminants are involved in the plasma formed by laser ablation of the substrates, the relative contribution of the surface contaminants and the substrates to the plasma emission could be changed depending on the conditions for plasma formation. The limit of detection(LOD) was evaluated under several detecting conditions for investigating the factors that affected the LOD. A significant factor was the standard deviation values of signal intensities obtained for the clean substrates. This value varied depending on the measurement *** the Al alloy(A6061), the smallest LOD obtained was 0.529 μg?·?cm^(-2). Furthermore, an improved LOD(0.299 μg?·?cm^(-2)) was obtained for the Al alloy with a lower Si content.

A high damping condition is easily obtained in Mn-(16-24) Cu-(4-6) Ni-2Fe (at. pct) alloys, when cooling rate is controlled after the solid solution treatment at 1173 K. It was observed that the temperature dependent changes of logarithmic decrement in 10 h cooled samples are sensitive to the alloy composition. As compared with water quenching treatment, controlled 10 h cooling improves T//N temperature of the alloys extensively by producing a Mn-enriched matrix portion in the alloys. Calculations suggest that the relative decreases of Cu and Ni content in the matrix portion be dominated by the Ni content in the original alloys, and therefore, the volume fraction of the Cu, Ni-enriched precipitates is estimated to be about 20% and 10% in the 4Ni and 6Ni alloys, respectively. As a result, the T//N temperature for each alloy, corresponding to the rising temperature of logarithmic decrement, has been related to the Cu, and Ni in the Mn-enriched matrix. The existence of left brace 110 right brace twinning boundaries is confirmed in the microstructure of both 4Ni and 6Ni alloys. However, the relative lattice strains, which the twinning boundaries act to accommodate, were found largely different in the two alloys. It is considered that boundaries with smaller orientation deviation can coordinate the external stresses easily by cyclic moving, and therefore, the broader damping peak which occurs in the 10 h cooled 6Ni alloy becomes feasible. Electron diffraction results also indicate possible formation of many sub-crystals in the matrix phase, which are relatively rotated on some invariant planes. Those sub-crystal boundaries might play some attenuation roles in the temperature range between T//N and room temperature. (Edited author abstract) 9 Refs.

Effects of Public Transfers on Income Inequality and Poverty in Rural China

This study examines the impacts of public transfers on income inequality and poverty reduction in rural *** uses nationally representative rural household surveys from the China Household Income Project and classifies public transfers into threetypesuniversal,pro-poor,and reimbursable transfers-to compare the impacts of eachtype of public transfer in 2013and *** results show that the contributions of eachtypeof publictransfertoreducing incomeinequalityweregenerally small in both 2013 and ***,the effects of reimbursable transfers were the largest of the three *** also found that the poverty-reducing effects were the largest for reimbursabletransfers,and their impactshaveconsiderably improved inthewestern *** impacts of pro-poor transfers were intermediate but have developed notably in the central *** findings suggest that reimbursableand pro-poortransfers contributed mainly to reducing rural poverty but the impacts were heterogeneous among regions.
