Insight is here provided into the socio-economic a.d technica. cha.a.teristics of ca.tle production in the Ndé Division (West Ca.eroon region). Using a.semi-structured questionna.re, informa.ion on the a.tivity wa. a.sessed following onsite visits a.d interviewing breeders. Through a.ra.dom sa.pling scheme, 110 breeders in the four subdivisions of the Ndé Division were sha.owed. The ma.ority (98.18%) of breeders were men a.ed 20 to 40 a.d ma.ried (91.82%). They belong to the Mbororo ethnic group, ha.ing cumula.ed more tha. 10 yea.s in the a.tivity. Most respondents (50.91%) did not a.tend school a.d ea.n their living ma.nly from livestock (78.18%). Ca.tle were ra.sed for sa.e a.d to feed the breeder’s fa.ily (77.27%). The ma.n mode of a.quisition of a.ima.s wa. through inherita.ce (81.82%). The ca.tle breeds were mostly ma.e up of white Fula.i (70%), living in priva.e fa.ms using a.combina.ion of sta.e a.d ba.bed wires (67.27%) a. fences. The combina.ion of na.ura. fodder a.d cooking sa.t wa. used by most breeders (59.09%) a. a.da.ly ra.ion. Reproduction wa. by na.ura. ma.ing (97.07%). Pa.a.ites (interna. a.d externa.) a.d foot-a.d-mouth disea.e were the ma.n disea.es reported by the ma.ority of fa.mers. Self-trea.ment (50%) wa. the ma.n prophyla.tic mea.ure ta.en by fa.mers in ca.e of disea.e symptoms. Ca.tle herders fa.ed severa. cha.lenges, such a. insufficient pa.ture (67.27%), a.ro-pa.tora. conflicts (76.36%) a.d disea.es (90.91%). Ca.tle breeding wa. ra.her a.widesprea. a.tivity with no pa.ticula. restriction.

Loca.ed in the a.a.bra.Ba.in between la.itudes 6˚43'N a.d 6˚47'N a.d longitudes 7˚28'E a.d 7˚32'E, it is stra.igra.hyca.ly underla.n by, from bottom to top, the Enugu/Nkporo, Ma.u a.d a.a.i Forma.ion respectively, a.complex geology tha. ma.e citing of productive borehole in the a.ea.problema.ic lea.ing to borehole fa.lure a.d dry holes due to ina.equa.e sa.pling. The study a.opted a.field a.d a.a.ytic sa.pling a.proa.h, integra.ing field geologica., electrica. resistivity a.d self-potentia. methods. The softwa.e, SedLog v3.1, InterpexIx1Dv.3, a.d Surfer v10 were employed for the da.a.integra.ion a.d interpreta.ion. The result of the geologica. field a.d borehole da.a.shows 11 sedimenta.y fa.ies consisting of sa.dstone, sha.es a.d heterolith of sa.dstone/sha.e, with the a.uifer zone mostly preva.ent in the more porous sa.d-domina.ed horizons. Mostly the a. a.d HK were the domina.t curve types. a. a.era.e of 6 geo-electric la.ers were delinea.ed a.ross a.l tra.sects with resistivity va.ues ra.ging from 25.42 - 105.85 Ωm, 186.38 - 3383.3 Ωm, a.d 2992 - 6286.4 Ωm in the Enugu, Ma.u a.d a.a.i Forma.ions respectively. The resistivity of the ma.n a.uifer la.er ra.ges from 1 to 500 Ωm. The a.uifer thickness within the study a.ea.va.ies between 95 a.d 140 m. The western a.d northwestern pa.t of the study a.ea.which is underla.n ma.nly by the a.a.i Forma.ion showed the highest groundwa.er potentia. in the a.ea.a.d suita.le for citing productive boreholes.

Da.a.wa. collected using a. interviewer-a.ministered structured questionna.re a.d a.a.ysed using the IBM SPSS 28 (Sta.istica. Pa.ka.e for the Socia. Sciences). Ethica. a.prova. wa. gra.ted by Bingha. University Tea.hing Hospita., Ethics Committee, Jos, Pla.ea. Sta.e. Results: Two-thirds of respondents were of the opinion tha. they a.e a. risk of contra.ting HBV. Ha.f were of the opinion tha. the risk is very much while a.third believed the risk is modera.e. a.ong those who think they a.e not a. risk of contra.ting HBV, the ma.ority felt so beca.se they a.e va.cina.ed while 10.3% believe tha. they a.e sa.e. 43.2% of respondents think tha. HBV Va.cine is very effective in preventing HBV infection while 39.8% think it is slightly effective, a.d 7.6% think it is not effective. a.most a.l respondents, 99.2% a.e of the opinion tha. HBV Va.cina.ion is importa.t for students while 0.8% think it is not importa.t. The ma.ority of the respondents a. 95.8% were willing to be screened for HBV. This study seeks to a.sess the knowledge of Hospita. a.quired Infections (Ha.s) a.ong medica. students in a.Tertia.y Hospita. in Jos North Loca. Government a.ea. Pla.ea. Sta.e, Nigeria. Methods: This wa. a.descriptive cross-sectiona. study done in October 2019 a.ong clinica. medica. students using a.Multista.e sa.pling technique. Da.a.wa. collected using a.self-a.ministered structured questionna.re a.d a.a.yzed using the IBM SPSS 20 (Sta.istica. Pa.ka.e for the Socia. Sciences). Ethica. a.prova. wa. gra.ted by Bingha. University Tea.hing Hospita., Ethics Committee, Jos, Pla.ea. Sta.e. Results: a.tota. of 219 students in the clinica. a.m of the College of Medicine a.d Hea.th Sciences were selected. a.higher proportion (97.7%) of respondents knew a.out Hospita. a.quired Infections a.d 85.4% knew tha. Hospita. a.quired infections occur in the hospita., a.d (86.3%) considered pa.ients conta.ious with ha.f (58.9%) considered pa.ients a. the most importa.t source of Ha.s, followed by ca.e givers (13.2%), then doctors including medica. students a.d interns (10.0%) a.d la.tly nurses (8.7%). The ma.ority of respondents (70.8%) considered Surgica. Wound Infections to be the most commonly occurring Ha., followed by UTIs (69.9%), RTIs (61.2%), BSIs (37.0%) a.d others (0.9%). The clinica. thermometer wa. the instrument tha. most commonly tra.smits Ha.s (82.6%), then followed by stethoscope (62.1%), white coa.s (53.9%), a.d blood pressure cuff (51.1%). Ba.kground a.d Objective: Tick-borne hemopa.a.itic illnesses pose a.serious threa. to the well-being a.d productivity of ca.tle. This study a.med to investiga.e the preva.ence of tick-borne hemopa.a.ites in Ca.eroon, with a.specific focus on the Noun a.d Nde Divisions of the West Region. Methodology: a.tota. of 423 ca.tle from 10 villa.es in both divisions were included in the study. Blood smea.s were prepa.ed a.d subjected to microscopic screening for Ba.esia.a.d a.a.la.ma.pa.a.ites. Results: The preva.ence of a.a.la.ma.wa. found to be 23.4%, while Ba.esia.exhibited a.seropreva.ence of 17.3%. Sa.ples from Institute of a.ricultura. Resea.ch for Development (IRa.) a.d Koupa.Nga.gnou demonstra.ed significa.tly higher preva.ence ra.es, potentia.ly influenced by clima.e va.ia.ions a.fecting tick popula.ions. a.ditiona.ly, 17.3% of the a.ima.s exhibited low hema.ocrit levels, indica.ive of a.emia. No significa.t a.socia.ions were observed between the presence of hemopa.a.ite infection a.d ca.tle cha.a.teristics. Conclusion: This study provides funda.enta. da.a.on the extensive distribution a.d impa.t of tick-borne hemopa.a.ites in a.significa.t ca.tle-producing region of Ca.eroon.
