The COVID-19 pandem.c caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus is an ongoing global health *** cases of COVID-19 and the rare cases of COVID-19 vaccine-induced-throm.otic-throm.ocytopenia(VITT)are both associated with throm.osis and throm.ocytopenia;however,the underlying m.chanism. rem.in inadequately *** infection and vaccination utilize the spike protein receptor-binding dom.in(RBD)of *** found that intravenous injection of recom.inant RBD caused significant platelet clearance in *** investigation revealed the RBD could bind platelets,cause platelet activation,and potentiate platelet aggregation,which was exacerbated in the Delta and Kappa *** RBD–platelet interaction was partially dependent on theβ3 integrin as binding was significantly reduced inβ3−/−***,RBD binding to hum.n and m.use platelets was significantly reduced with relatedαIIbβ3 antagonists and m.tation of the RGD(arginine-glycine-aspartate)integrin binding m.tif to RGE(arginine-glycine-glutam.te).We developed anti-RBD polyclonal and several m.noclonal antibodies(m.bs)and identified 4F2 and 4H12 for their potent dual inhibition of RBD-induced platelet activation,aggregation,and clearance in vivo,and SARS-CoV-2 infection and replication in Vero E6 *** data show that the RBD can bind platelets partially thoughαIIbβ3 and induce platelet activation and clearance,which m.y contribute to throm.osis and throm.ocytopenia observed in COVID-19 and *** newly developed m.bs 4F2 and 4H12 have potential not only for diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 virus antigen but also im.ortantly for therapy against COVID-19.

Cells have evolved DNA dam.ge response （DDR） to repair DNA lesions and thus preserving genom.c stability and im.eding carcinogenesis. DNA dam.ge induction is accom.anied by transient transcription repression. Here, we describe a previously unrecognized role of chrom.dom.in Y-like （CDYL1） protein in fortifying double-strand break （DSB）-induced transcription repression and repair. We showed that CDYL1 is rapidly recruited to dam.ged euchrom.tic regions in a poly （ADP-ribose） polym.rase 1 （PARP1）-dependent, but ataxia telangiectasia m.tated （ATm.-independent, m.nner. While the C-term.nal region, containing the enoyl-CoA hydratase like （ECH） dom.in, of CDYL1 binds to poly （ADP-ribose）（PAR） m.ieties and m.diates CDYL1 accum.lation at DNA dam.ge sites, the chrom.dom.in and histone H3 trim.thylated on lysine 9 （H3K9m.3） m.rk are dispensable for its recruitm.nt. Furtherm.re, CDYL1 prom.tes the recruitm.nt of enhancer of zeste hom.log 2 （EZH2）, stim.lates local increase of the repressive m.thyl m.rk H3K27m.3, and prom.tes transcription silencing at DSB sites. In addition, following DNA dam.ge induction, CDYL1 depletion causes persistent G2/m.arrest and alters H2AX and replication protein A （RPA2） phosphorylation. Rem.rkably, the ‘traffic-light reporter’ system.revealed that CDYL1 m.inly prom.tes hom.logy-directed repair （HDR） of DSBs in vivo. Consequently, CDYL1-knockout cells display synthetic lethality with the chem.therapeutic agent, cisplatin. Altogether, our findings identify CDYL1 as a new com.onent of the DDR and suggest that the HDR-defective ‘BRCAness’ phenotype of CDYL1-deficient cells could be exploited for eradicating cancer cells harboring CDYL1 m.tations.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Background and Aim.:Both alcoholic drinks and high sugar-containing soft drinks cause m.jor health problem. *** adm.nistration of OS and m. soy-derived extracts has been shown to alleviate liver injury in anim.l *** aim.of the present study was to determ.ne the liver-and sugar-protective effect of OS and m. soy-derived extracts when added to alcohol and sugar-enriched ***:m.ce were treated with alcohol or high sugarcontaining drinks,with and without adm.nistration of a com.ination of OS and m. soy *** were observed for the effects on liver injury,glucose m.tabolism.and the im.une ***:Co-adm.nistration of the soy extracts OS and m. significantly alleviated the liver injury induced by acute alcohol,as evidenced by decreased liver *** beneficial effects were associated with prom.tion of subsets of regulatory T lym.hocytes and with a trend towards a pro-inflam.atory to an anti-inflam.atory cytokine ***-adm.nistration of OS m. soy extracts with sugar-sweetened beverages significantly alleviated the increases in serum.sugar ***:OS and m. extracts exert a synergistic hepato-and glucose-protective effect in m.dels of alcohol-induced liver dam.ge and soft drinks-associated increases in serum.*** extracts m.y provide a solution to the two pressing health problem..

The analysis of closed claim. and litigations can provide an invaluable tool to im.rove patient safety by m.nim.zing adverse anesthesia-related outcom.s. Analysis of collective data describing such claim. is integral to develop new guidelines aim.d to reduce adverse anesthesia-related events. In this study, we give a descriptive analysis of anesthesia-related claim. at the Detroit m.dical Center, Detroit, m., USA. The study analyzed different com.onents in anesthesia-related closed claim. and litigations such as m.dical, dem.graphic and socio-econom.c factors. From.67,000 procedures in anesthesiology care provider, related cases claim. were m.de in 0.057% (38/67,000) of all cases. The m.jority of claim. involved procedures involving Caucasian fem.les aged 51-55 years. The highest risk periods involved early shift tim.s during m.nday and Tuesday, particularly of procedures perform.d during August. About 33% of all cases in which death occurred involved patients who received an Obstetrics/Gynecology or an Orthopedic procedure under general anesthesia. The m.jority of closed claim. and litigations cases were distributed between procedures treating nerves injuries and anoxic encephalopathy. The OR and PACU at urban hospitals had the highest claim.rates. m. anesthesiologists constituted the lowest proportion of all anesthesia providers involved in closed claim. incidents. The average com.ensation paid was predom.nately in the range of $200,000-$250,000. In addition to reporting anesthesia related factors involved in closed claim. and litigations this study also includes a series of recom.endations which m.y work as a fram.work for im.roving anesthesia practices.

This work represents the first detailed study of an oil shale (OS) section from.the Upper Cam.anian Am.an Silicified Lim.stone (ASL) Form.tion in south-western part of Jordan. m.re than five m.ters of oil shale have been recorded. Using the petrography and geochem.stry, this study aim. to focus on such non-conventional types of oil shale rocks in Jordan and to shed som. light on their com.osition and form.tional environm.nt. Unlike oil shale from.m.astrichtian to early Tertiary, this type of oil shale is highly dolom.tized. The dolom.te is diagenetic in origin. This oil shale type contains considerable am.unt of Om.and rem.rkably enriched in som. trace elem.nts and shows quite low sulfur content. Results suggest that the form.tion of dolom.te appears to be lim.ted by the rate of organic m.tter oxidation.

Since conventional hum.n cardiac two-dim.nsional(2D)cell culture and m.ltilayered three-dim.nsional(3D)m.dels fail in recapitulating cellular com.lexity and possess inferior translational capacity,we designed and developed a high-throughput scalable 3D bioprinted cardiac spheroidal droplet-organoid m.del with cardiom.ocytes and cardiac fibroblasts that can be used for drug screening or regenerative engineering *** study helped establish the param.ters for bioprinting and cross-linking a gelatin-alginate-based bioink into 3D spheroidal droplets.A flattened disk-like structure developed in prior studies from.our laboratory was used as a *** m.crostructural and m.chanical stability of the 3D spheroidal droplets was assessed and was found to be ideal for a cardiac *** hum.n cardiac fibroblasts and AC16 cardiom.ocytes were m.xed in the bioink and ***-dead assay and flow cytom.try analysis revealed robust biocom.atibility of the 3D spheroidal droplets that supported the growth and proliferation of the cardiac cells in the long-term.***,the heterocellular gap junctional coupling between the cardiom.ocytes and cardiac fibroblasts further validated the 3D cardiac spheroidal droplet m.del.
