Congestion pricing strategies to investigate the potential of.route diversion on toll f.cilities using en-route guidance

The application of.intelligent transportation systems （ITS） technologies to f.cilitate the traf.ic mobility requires dynamic routing decisions. This study examines the ef.ectiveness of.Paramics, a microscopic traf.ic simulation model that uses a link-to-link shortest path algorithm to consider both updated link travel times and incident conditions detected through dif.erent traf.ic assignment techniques. This paper describes modeling of.an urban highway network＇s traf.ic conditions to investigate potential route diversion through congestion pricing strategies on toll f.cilities in Orlando, f.orida using Paramics. The experimental design included a multi-level f.ctorial design with three qualitative variables and f.ur response quantitative variables. The experiment＇s objective was to investigate dif.erent scenarios f.r reducing tolls on less congested roads （SR528 and SR417） and increasing tolls on more congested roads （SR408） to determine the impact on travelers＇ route choices and overall congestion in the network. The simulation results demonstrate that the Dynamic f.edback Assignment （Df.） led to a reduction in the average queuing delay and average travel time when compared to results f.om the Stochastic Assignment （SA）. Df. signif.cantly af.ected the percentage of.diversion in the network. Drivers saved 10%-16% of.travel time when Df. inf.rmation was provided. Results also show that percentages of.route diversion vary f.om one route to another and depending on the travel cost between specif.c origin-destination pairs. While drivers incorporate real time guidance inf.rmation to maximize their own utility, not all drivers gain the same benef.t. This was attributed to the limited extra capacity of.the alternative routes and the longer travel distance. Combining congestion pricing strategies with traf.ic inf.rmation maximize travel time benef.ts.

The ef.ect of.multi-intermediate bands on the behavior of.an InAs_(1-x)N_x/GaAs(1-y)Sb_y quantum dot solar cell

A mathematical model of.quantum dot intermediate band solar cells （QDIBSCs） is investigated using two intermediate bands （IBs）. These two IBs arise f.om the quantum dot （QD） semiconductor material within the bandgap energy. Some parameters such as the width of.the QD （WQD） and the barrier thickness or the inter-dot distances between the QDs （BT） are studied to show their inf.uence on the perf.rmance of.the QDIBSC. The timeindependent Schr6dinger equation, which is solved using the Kronig-Penney model, is used to determine the posi- tion and bandwidth energies of.the two IBs. In our proposed model, the cubic shape of.the QDs f.om InAs0.9N0.1 and the barrier or host semiconductor material f.om GaAs0.98Sb0.02 are utilized. It is shown f.om the results obtained that changing the parameters WQD and Bx has more inf.uence on the bandwidth energy f.r the f.rst IB, A 1, than in the case of.the second IB, A2. The optimum power conversion ef.iciencies （PCEs） of.the QDIBSCs with two IBs f.r the model under study are 58.01% and 73.55% at 1 sun and maximum solar concentration, respectively. One can observe that, in the case of.the two IBs, an improvement of.the PCE is achieved.

Carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogels were developed through crosslinking process using eco-f.iendly crosslinkers such as maleic,succinic,and citric *** cellulose was prepared f.om the cellulosic f.action of.olive industry residues.A series of.hydrogels with varying crosslinker acid concentrations,reaction times,and reaction temperatures was produced to study the swelling capacities and gel f.action of.the obtained *** study pertains to the preparation of.antimicrobial nanocomposite hydrogels through in-situ incorporation of.the silver nanoparticles during the crosslinking *** nanoparticles were prepared by reduction of.AgNO3 with leaves of.Ricinus *** particle size of.prepared silver nanoparticles was detected by transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Chemical structure and morphological characterizations of.the prepared hydrogels were perf.rmed using f.urier transf.rm inf.ared spectroscopy(f.IR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX).f.nally,the antimicrobial activity of.the loaded silver hydrogels against Gram negative(G-ve),Gram positive(G+ve),and Candida albicans yeast was demonstrated.

Ef.ect of.supplementing layer hen diet with phytogenic f.ed additives on laying perf.rmance, egg quality, egg lipid peroxidation and blood biochemical constituents

This study was conducted to evaluate the ef.ects of.supplementing laying hen diet with phytogenic additives on laying perf.rmance, egg quality, blood constituents and egg lipid peroxidation. Two hundred Lohmann Brown Lite laying hens were randomly allotted to 4 dietary treatments: control(without phytogenic additive), f.nnel seeds(5 g/kg), black cumin seeds(5 g/kg) and hot red pepper(5 g/kg).Each of.the 4 diets was f.d to 5 replicates of.10 hens f.r 8 weeks. No signif.cant dif.erences were observed in body weight or f.ed intake between the groups. Dietary inclusion of.f.nnel f.llowed by red pepper improved(P f.ed conversion ratio compared with control. Higher yolk shape index, shell and albumen weight percentages and Haugh unit(P f.nnel supplemented group compared with control. The egg yolk color score increased by the addition of.f.nnel or hot red pepper in laying hen diets compared with control. The inclusion of.black cumin or hot red pepper decreased serum and egg yolk cholesterol and malondialdehyde concentrations(P f.rase concentration was lower in black cumin group(P f.rmance and egg quality were obtained by dietary inclusion of.f.nnel, f.llowed by hot red pepper and black cumin. Dietary supplementation of.black cumin or red pepper may lead to the development of.low-cholesterol concentration and better antioxidant capacity of.eggs.

Ef.ects of.bimetallic catalysts on synthesis of.nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes as nanoscale energetic materials

Well aligned nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes （CNx-NTs）, as energetic materials, are synthesized on a silicon substrate by aerosol-assisted chemical vapor deposition, Tungsten （W） and molybdenum （Mo） metals are respectively introduced to combine with iron （f.） to act as a bimetallic co-catalyst layer. Cor- relations between the composition and shape of.the co-catalyst and morphology, size, growth rate and nitrogen doping amount of.the synthesized CNx-NTs are investigated by secondary and backscattered electron imaging in a f.eld emission scanning electron microscope （f.SEM） and X-ray photoelectron spectrometer （XPS）. Compared to pure iron catalyst, W-f. co-catalyst can result in lower growth rate, larger diameter and wider size distribution of.the CNx-NTs; while incorporation of.molybdenum into the iron catalyst layer can reduce the diameter and size distribution of.the nanotubes. Compared to the sole iron catalyst, f.-W catalyst impedes nitrogen doping while f.-Mo catalyst promotes the incorporation of.nitrogen into the nanotubes. The present work indicates that CNx-NTs with modulated size, growth rate and nitrogen doping concentration are expected to be synthesized by tuning the size and composition of.co-catalysts, which may f.nd great potential in producing CNx-NTs with controlled structure and properties,

Temperature and Doping Dependencies of.the Transport Properties within GaN and GaAs

Temperature and doping dependencies of.the transport properties have been calculated using an ensemble Monte Carlo simulation. We consider the polar optical phonon, acoustic phonons, piezoelectric, intervalley scatterings and Charged impurity scattering model of.Ridley;f.rthermore, a non nonparabolic three-valley model is used. Our simulation results have shown that the electron velocity in GaN is less sensitive to changes in temperature than that associated with GaAs. Also it is f.und that GaN exhibits high peak drif. velocity at room temperature, 2.8 × 105m/s, at doping concentration of.1 × 1020 m–3and the electron drif. velocity relaxes to the saturation value of.1.3 × 105 m/s which is much larger than that of.GaAs. The weakening of.the phonon emission rate at low temperature explains the extremely high low f.eld mobility. Our results suggest that the transport characteristics of.GaN are superior to that of.GaAs, over a wide range of.temperatures, f.om 100 K to 700 K, and doping concentrations, up to 1 × 1025

Reassessment of.f.nestration characteristics f.r residential buildings in hot climates: energy and economic analysis

This paper attempts to resolve the reported contradiction in the literature about the characteristics of.high-perf.rmance/cost-ef.ective f.nestration of.residential buildings,particularly in hot *** considered issues are the window glazing property(ten commercial glazing types),f.cade orientation(f.ur main orientations),window-to-wall ratio(WWR)(0.2–0.8),and solar shading overhangs and side-f.ns(nine shading conditions).The results of.the simulated runs reveal that the glazing quality has a superior ef.ect over the other f.nestration parameters and controls their ef.ect on the energy consumption of.residential ***,using low-perf.rmance windows on buildings yields larger ef.ects of.WWR,f.cade orientation,and solar shading than high-perf.rmance *** the WWR increases f.om 0.2 to 0.8,the building energy consumption using the low-perf.rmance window increases 6.46 times than that using the highperf.rmance *** best f.cade orientation is changed f.om north to south according to the glazing *** addition,the solar shading need is correlated as a f.nction of.a window-glazing property and *** cost analysis shows that the high-perf.rmance windows without solar shading are cost-ef.ective as they have the largest net present cost compared to lowperf.rmance windows with or without solar ***,replacing low-perf.rmance windows with high-perf.rmance ones,in an existing residential building,saves about 12.7 MWh of.electricity and 11.05 tons of.CO_(2) annually.

Aim: This study aims to suggest exercise program for prevention, decrease morbidity and mortality in COVID-19 patients and patients with other respiratory co-morbidities. Conclusion: Regular simple exercises include respiratory and circulatory exercises may have a great effect on improving lung function and immunity in addition to relieving psychological stress thus can help in treatment of high risk people from COVID-19.

Gastric leaks post sleeve gastrectomy:Review of.its prevention and management

Gastric sleeve gastrectomy has become a f.equent bariatric procedure. Its apparent simplicity hides a number of.serious,sometimes f.tal,complications. This is more important in the absence of.an internationally adopted algorithm f.r the management of.the leaks complicating this operation. The debates exist even regarding the def.nition of.a leak,with several classif.cation systems that can be used to predict the cause of.the leak,and also to determine the treatment plan. Causes of.leak are classif.ed as mechanical,technical and ischemic causes. Af.er def.ning the possible causes,authors went into suggesting a number of.preventive measures to decrease the leak rate,including gentle handling of.tissues,staple line reinf.rcement,larger bougie size and routine use of.methylene blue test per operatively. In our review,we noticed that the most important clinical sign or symptom in patients with gastric leaks are f.ver and tachycardia,which mandate the use of.an abdominal computed tomography,associated with an upper gastrointrstinal series and/or gastroscopy if.no leak was detected. Af.er diagnosis,the management of.leak depends mainly on the clinical condition of.the patient and the onset time of.leak. It varies between prompt surgical intervention in unstable patients and conservative management in stable ones in whom leaks present lately. The management options include also endoscopic interventions with closure techniques or more commonly exclusion techniques with an endoprosthesis. The aim of.this review was to highlight the causes and thus the prevention modalities and f.nd a standardized algorithm to deal with gastric leaks post sleeve gastrectomy.

In vitro anticancer activity of.polysaccharide extracted f.om red alga Jania rubens against breast and colon cancer cell lines

Objective: To evaluate the potential role of.the polysaccharides of.the marine algae as an anticancer agent in vitro against colon cancer cell line(CoCa2) and breast cancer(MCf.) cell lines and to measure lactate dehydrogenase enzyme(LDH) activity as biomarker of.membrane integrity of.the cells. Methods: The cells of.breast cancer(MCf.) and colon cancer(CoCa2)were used to evaluate the potential anticancer role of.the polysaccharides of.marine algae. Antiprolif.rative activity against MCf. and CoCa2 cell lines were evaluated in vitro by the 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2 H-tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay. Results: The in vitro assay of.the antioxidant activity of.eight marine seaweed species showed that the red seaweed Jania rubens(J. rubens) had the highest DPPH(2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) f.ee radical scavenging activity. The extracted polysaccharides with concentrations 0.1–40.0 mg/mL f.om J. rubens were tested f.r its anticancer potentiality and cytotoxic ef.ects against the cell lines of.human breast(MCf.) and colon cancer(CoCa2) cell lines by MTT assay. The inhibitory concentration at 50 (IC_(50)) value the of.J. rubens polysaccharide extract was 0.312 5 mg/mL f.r MCf. and 20 mg/mL f.r CoCa2. LDH activity and annexin V concentration were higher in the treated MCf. and CaCo2 cells than in the untreated ones. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction technique indicated that the polysaccharide treatments caused up-regulation of.Bax, caspase 8 and P53 genes expression in CoCa2 cells, and up-regulation of.caspase 3 and down-regulation of.Bcl2 genes expression in MCf. cells. Conclusions: The polysaccharides of.the red marine alga J. rubens could be a potential candidate f.r the natural compounds as antioxidant and anticancer therapy.
