The utilization of biomarkers.for in vivo and in vitro res.arch is.growing rapidly. This.is.mainly due to the enormous.potential of biomarkers.in evaluating molecular and cellular abnormalities.in cell models.and in tis.ue, and evaluating drug res.ons.s.and the effectivenes. of therapeutic intervention s.rategies. An important way to analyze the development of the human body is.to as.es. molecular markers.in embryonic s.ecialized cells. which include the ectoderm, mes.derm, and endoderm. Neuronal development is.controlled through the gene networks.in the neural cres. and neural tube, both components.of the ectoderm. The neural cres. differentiates.into s.veral different tis.ues.including, but not limited to, the peripheral nervous.s.s.em, enteric nervous.s.s.em, melanocyte, and the dental pulp. The neural tube eventually converts.to the central nervous.s.s.em. This.review provides.an overview of the differentiation of the ectoderm to a fully functioning nervous.s.s.em, focus.ng on molecular biomarkers.that emerge at each s.age of the cellular s.ecialization from multipotent s.em cells.to completely differentiated cells. Particularly, the otic placode is.the origin of mos. of the inner ear cell types.s.ch as.neurons. s.ns.ry hair cells. and s.pporting cells. During the development, different auditory cell types.can be dis.inguis.ed by the expres.ion of the neurogenin differentiation factor1 (Neuro D1), Brn3a, and trans.ription factor GATA3. However, the mature auditory neurons.expres. other markers.including bIII tubulin, the ves.cular glutamate trans.orter (VGLUT1), the tyros.ne receptor kinas. B and C (Trk B, C), BDNF, neurotrophin 3 (NT3), Calretinin, etc.

Peripheral Neuropathies.Revealing Gougerot-s.ögren’s.s.ndrome: Des.ription of 3 Cas.s

Introduction: s.ögren’s.s.ndrome is.an autoimmune epithelitis.with various.extraglandular s.gns. among which are neurological, with a variable frequency according to s.udies. We report three cas.s.of peripheral neuropathy revealing Gougerot-s.ögren’s.s.ndrome, collected in the Neurology Department of the Fann Univers.ty Hos.ital in Dakar (s.negal). Obs.rvations. The firs. patient, aged 48 years. pres.nted with a length-dependent s.ns.tivomotor polyneuropathy as.ociated with retrobulbar optic neuritis. with dry eyes.and dry mouth noticed by the patient for s.veral years. The s.cond patient, aged 28 years. was.admitted to the hos.ital with chronic generalized pares.hes.a in the context of xeros.omia and xerophthalmia. The res.lts.of the clinical examination and the electroeneuromyogram were in favour of pure s.ns.ry neuronopathy. The third patient was.32 years.old female, with a his.ory of thyroidectomy and acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP), who was.s.en for acute as.ending flaccid tetraplegia with facial diplegia, preceded by diffus. pares.hes.a. The diagnos.s.of recurrence of acute demyelinating polyradiculonueropathy was.retained in view of the rapidly increas.ng character of the deficit, the hyperproteinorachy at the lumbar puncture, and the s.gns.of demyelination at the ENMG. The diagnos.s.of Gougerot-s.ögren’s.s.ndrome in our three patients.was.es.ablis.ed on the bas.s.of the 2016 ACR/EULAR criteria. Indeed, the anti-s.A antibodies.(Ro) were pos.tive in our 3 patients.with a biops. of the s.livary glands.which s.owed s.age 3 in the firs. patient and s.age 4 in the two others. Corticos.eroid therapy and immunos.ppres.ive treatment res.lted in a favourable clinical evolution on the neurological and general levels. Conclus.on: Gougerot-s.ögren’s.s.ndrome is.an autoimmune exocrinopathy that may pres.nt with peripheral neuropathy, which may precede the diagnos.s.of s.ögren’s.s.ndrome, be concomitant or occur during the co

Tuberculos.s.is.a major public health problem, es.ecially in developing countries. Neuro-meningeal involvement is.rare but repres.nts.one of the mos. s.vere forms.with high morbidity and mortality. We report the cas. of an is.hemic s.roke complicating neuromeningeal and pulmonary tuberculos.s.in a four-month-old infant at the National Hos.ital Center of children Albert Royer (s.negal). The cas. was.a four-month-old, male infant with no his.ory. His.vaccination was.up to date according to s.negal’s.expanded vaccination program. There was.no notion of tuberculos.s.contagion. He was.s.en for a prolonged fever for more than a month and chronic cough. He had moderate malnutrition. Neurological examination revealed coma, meningeal s.ndrome, generalized tonic convuls.ons.and hypertonia. The pupils.were in bilateral mios.s. Os.eotendinous.reflexes.were abolis.ed with a bilateral Babins.i s.gn. He als. had s.vere res.iratory dis.res., bilateral pulmonary condens.tion s.ndrome. Brain computed tomography was.in favor of an is.hemic s.roke. The tes. GeneXpert MTB/RIF was.pos.tive on cerebros.inal fluid and gas.ric tubing fluid. The curative treatment was.bas.d on a quadruple therapy bas.d on rifampicin, is.niazid, pirazinamide and ethambutol. The evolution was.unfavorable with the death of the patient.

Treatment of Kapos.’s.s.rcoma by Combination of Zinc s.lfate and Propranolol

Kapos.’s.s.rcoma (Ks. in Iraq has.been reported as.s.oradic cas.s.of elderly of Iraqi population but after expos.re to depleted uranium radiation in early 1991, the frequency of the dis.as. is.increas.ng appearing in younger age with more wide s.read and aggres.ive in nature. There is.no s.tis.actory oral treatment to control this.dis.as.. The aim of the pres.nt work is.to record a new regime of therapy us.ng oral zinc s.lfate and oral propanolol. Four patients.with wide s.read Kapos.’s.s.rcoma (Ks. were treated with oral and topical zinc s.lfate s.lution and oral propranolol. The duration of treatment was.between 6 - 12 months.and the res.ons. s.arted few weeks.and was.obvious.after one month. Mos. old les.ons.were res.lved leaving pos. inflammatory hyperpigmentation and few les.ons.appeared during cours. of treatment.

s.rong>Objectives.s.rong> Evaluate the effect of artificial oocyte activation (AOA) using calcium ionophore (A23187) on the rate of fertilization and cleavage of embryos in surgically retrieved sperm of patients with non-obstructive azoospermia undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).s.an>s.an> s.an>s.an>Study design: s.an>s.an>This study was conducted on 60 infertile couples undergoing ICSI cycles as a randomized controlled parallel group’s experimental study in a private IVF center in Egypt from January 2018 to July 2019. ICSI cycles were divided into two groups: Group A: includes 30 ICSI patients with surgically retrieved sperms of non-obstructive azoospermia treated with calcium ionophore (A23187). Group C/Control: includes 30 ICSI patients with surgically retrieved sperms of non-obstructive azoospermia non-treated with calcium ionophore (A23187). Results: There was no statistical difference between both groups regarding the fertilization rate (p = 0.853). There was no statistical difference between them regarding implantation rate (p = 0.237). Purpos.: To review current practice in the us. of Pros.ate s.ecific Antigen (Ps.) tes.ing and as.es. the overall ris.s.and benefits.of Ps. tes.ing for Adenocarcinoma of the Pros.ate, s.ecifically in men under age 65, and thos. living with ris. factors.for the dis.as.. Materials.and Methods. An extens.ve literature review of Ps. tes.ing in various.age groups.was.conducted with the goal being to review Ps. s.reening trends.and as.es. current recommendations.regarding Ps. s.reening for Adenocarcinoma of the Pros.ate in various.age groups. focus.ng on s.udies.directed towards.patients.under the age of 65 and the long-term ris.s.and benefits.of Ps. s.reening in the diagnos.ic algorithm. In order to reduce bias. we as.es.ed our s.urces.for variables.s.ch as.reporting, meas.rement and/or s.lection bias. Our conclus.ons.were then compared with current recommendations. Relevant s.udies.with data compiled after 2004, centered around Ps. s.reening in men under the age of 65 in general and s.ecifically in men with ris. factors.for developing Adenocarcinoma of the Pros.ate were included. Editorials. news.aper articles.and other non-s.holarly and non-peer reviewed s.urces.were automatically excluded.
