Influence of graphene nanoplatelets on mechanical properties and adhesive wear performance of epoxy-based composites

Epoxy resin is one of the most widely used thermoset polymers in high-performance composite materials for lightweight ***,epoxy has a high coefficient of friction,which limits its tribological *** this study,the effect was investigated of different weight fractions of solid lubricant graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs),ranging from 0 to 4.5 wt%,on mechanical and adhesive wear performance of *** wear tests covered mild and severe wear *** correlation of tribological and mechanical properties was studied as *** electron microscopy(SEM)was used to observe the failure mechanisms for both tribological and mechanical samples after each *** results revealed that the addition of GNPs to the epoxy improved its stiffness and hardness but reduced its fracture strength and *** wear performance exhibited high efficiency with GNP additions and showed reductions in the specific wear rate,the coefficient of friction,and the induced interface temperature by 76%,37%,and 22%,respectively.A fatigue wear mechanism was predominant as the applied load *** importantly,severe wear signs occurred when the interface temperature reached the heat distortion temperature of the *** tribological,and mechanical properties showed only a weak correlation to each *** addition of GNPs to epoxy by less than 4.5 wt%was highly efficient to improve the wear performance while maintaining the fracture strength and *** transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)analysis shows no chemical interaction between the epoxy matrix with GNPs,which implies its physical interaction.

Productivity Improvement Model without Increasing Operation’s Risk and Fatigue

Productivity improvement of an operation without increasing operation risk and operation fatigue that increase the needed relaxation allowance is an important subject in process design. This research subject stimulates researchers to focus on improving the productivity of the whole production process by changing the technique of performing significant operations in the process. However, two important issues that affect the implementation of any new technique were not considered in the pervious research works. These are the risk magnitude of the new technique on the workplace environment and the fatigue level that affect human's health. In this paper, a model was developed that maximize the productivity of the production process by selecting the best technique to perform significant process operations among proper candidate techniques that improve these operations productivity while minimizing these operations risk and fatigue.

Awareness and Behaviour Related to Orthodontic Treatment among School Children in Aseer Region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Background: Awareness of malocclusion and the need to make corrections have increasingly become prevalent among the young population. In the period of adolescence, physical appearance is crucial in the construction of personal identity, including one’s relationship with one’s own body. Orthodontic treatment includes improved oral health and enhanced psychological wellbeing. Early orthodontic treatment for children will be crucial to improving oral health. The present study aims to assess the awareness towards orthodontic treatment among school children’s of Aseer region, Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods: A total of 835 (450 boys and 385 girls) school children’s, of age group between 10 - 15 years were included in the study. A total of 16 schools in the all Aseer region were surveyed during January to May 2018. A pre-structured self-administered questionnaire consisting of 12 questions with multiple answers were given to the children after the clinical examination to assess their knowledge and attitude towards Orthodontic treatment. Statistical Analysis: The survey data was collected and organized into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (Microsoft Inc., USA), and was statistically analyzed utilizing the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20.0 software (IBM Inc., USA). The statistical test used here was the chi-square test and P values less than 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant (P Result: A total of 292 (65%) of males and 285 (74%) of females have heard of an orthodontist. 234 (52%) of males said that orthodontist would align their teeth. 203 (45%) and 250 (65%) of males and females respectively are aware that few teeth needed to be removed for aligning irregular teeth. Quantitative estimation of hesperidin by HPTLC in different varieties of citrus peels

Objective:To develop a simple,selective,sensitive and accurate high-performance thin layer chromatography(HPTLC)method to determine the quantity of hesperidin in different varieties of citrus ***:The method was carried out in aluminum-backed silica gel 60 F_(254)plates with ethyl acetate-methanol-water 15:3:2(%,v/v)as mobile ***:A compact band was obtained for hesperidin at R_f value of(0.40±0.04).The calibration plot was linear in the range of 100-800 ng/spot of hesperidin and the correlation coefficient of 0.9986was indicative of good linear dependence of peak area on *** of detection(8.87ng/spot),limit of quantification(23.21 ng/spot),accuracy(less than 2%)and recovery(ranging from98.55-99.38)were found ***:The method developed can be used for routine analysis of hesperidin in crude drug as well as in herbal and pharmaceutical dosage form containing citrus fruits as an ingredient.

Antioxidant and antihyperlipidemic activity of Costus speciosus against atherogenic diet-induced hyperlipidemia in rabbits

Objective: An extract of Costus speciosus(CSE), a herb widely used in folk medicine, was evaluated for its antioxidant, antihyperlipidemic and ameliorating effects on histopathological changes in atherogenic ***: Twenty-four male rabbits(Oryctolagus cuniculus) were divided into 4 groups. Three groups were fed a diet containing 3% saturated fat and 1.3% cholesterol for 40 d. One of these was sacrificed on the 40 th day and was called the pathogenic(P) group; the other two groups received treatment for another 30 d as follows: one received 0.8 g/(kgád) of CSE and the other was given 0.01 g/(kgád) of simvastatin. The normal group was sacrificed on the 70 th day and used as a ***: CSE showed radical-scavenging ability. Administration of CSE for a 30-day period resulted in a significant decrease in total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, low-density lipoprotein and aspartate aminotransferase compared to the P group, while levels of hemoglobin, packed corpuscular volume and red blood cells were elevated. With respect to studies performed on the heart, a decrease in malondialdehyde and an increase in reduced glutathione were noted. Total protein increased in the liver, heart and aorta after treatment with CSE and also a marked improvement in histopathological parameters was ***: The present findings indicate that the C. speciosus rhizome possesses antiatherogenic and antioxidant properties which may provide protective effects against oxidative stress in atherosclerotic rabbits.
