Identification of Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) Underlying Protein, Oil, and Five Major Fatty Acids’ Contents in Soybean

Improved seed composition in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] for protein and oil quality is one of the major goals of soybean breeders. A group of genes that act as quantitative traits with their effects can alter protein, oil, palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids percentage in soybean seeds. The objective of this study was to identify Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) controlling protein, oil, and fatty acids content in a set of F5:8 RILs derived from a cross between lines, ‘MD 96-5722’ and ‘Spencer’ using 5376 Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) mark.rs from the Illumina Infinium SoySNP6k.BeadChip array. QTL analysis used WinQTL Cart 2.5 software for composite interval mapping (CIM). Identified, were;one protein content QTL on link.ge group (LG-) B2 or chromosome (Chr_) 14;11 QTL associated with oil content on six link.ge groups LG-N (Chr_3), LG-A1 (Chr_5), LG-k.(Chr_9), LG-F (Chr_13), LG-B2 (Chr_14), and LG-J (Chr_16);and sixteen QTL for five major fatty acids (palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids) on LG-N (Chr_3), LG-F (Chr_13), LG-B2 (Chr_14), LG-E (Chr_15), LG-J (Chr_16), and LG-G (Chr_18). The SNP mark.rs closely link.d to the QTL reported here will be useful for development of cultivars with altered oil and fatty acid compositions in soybean breeding programs.

Limited information is available on the genetic analysis of amino acid composition in soybean seeds. Previously, quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for seed isoflavones, protein, oil, and fatty acids were identified in the “MD96-5722” by “Spencer” and other RIL populations. There were wide variations for these seed constituents among the RIL populations. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify QTLs controlling different amino acids content in soybean seeds. To achieve this objective, ninety-two F5:7 recombinant inbred lines (RIL), developed from a cross of MD96-5722 and Spencer, using a total 5376 Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs) mark.rs, were used. The RILs were genotyped by using 537 polymorphic, reliably segregating SNP mark.rs, developed from the Illumina Infinium SoySNP6k.BeadChip array. A total of 13 QTLs were identified with three QTLs for threonine on the link.ge group (LG) A1, C2, and B2. Two QTLs were identified for each of the amino acids proline on LG D1a and B2, serine on LG A1 and C2, tryptophan on LG k.and G, and cysteine on LG A1 and k. One QTL was identified for arginine on LG N and histidine on LG J. The new QTLs findings for seed amino acid will facilitate the development of soybean cultivars with higher protein and amino acid quality to help meet the industry and consumer needs.

Surviving a Catastrophic Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding Caused by Esophageal-Subclavian Fistula: Case Report

Arterio-esophageal fistula (AEF), whether congenital or acquired, is a rare condition which can lead to fatal upper gastrointestinal bleeding. We report here a young man who developed a subclavian-esophageal fistula (SEF) secondary to chick.n bone impaction in the upper esophagus. The diagnosis was reached by urgent upper endoscopy and Computed Tomography of the chest which showed pseudo-aneurysmal changes at left subclavian artery with leak.d contrast through the fistula towered the esophagus. Urgent endo-vascular angiography confirmed the subclavian arterio-esophageal fistula that was managed uneventfully using covered 6mm Viban stent-graft. The patient survived this serious condition and was discharged home in good condition.

Seed priming has proved to be an effective pre-germination seed invigoration technique for different crops to improve seed and seedling performance under different abiotic *** Bangladesh,winter rice is very often exposed to cold waves just after sowing in the nursery bed resulting in poor seed germination and seedling emergence,yellowish and thin seedlings production,and a very low survival *** priming may mitigate the cold stress during seed germination and seedling emergence and helps in the quality seedling production of winter *** evaluate the efficacy of different seed priming techniques in increasing seedling emergence,growth,vigor and survivability of winter rice cultivars under cold stress,a pot experiment was conducted at the Department of Agronomy,Bangladesh Agricultural University during December 2018 to January *** experiment comprised two factors,(A)Winter rice variety namely,(i)BRRI dhan29 and (ii)BRRI dhan36;(B)Seed priming agent namely (i)Control(no priming),(ii)20000 ppm NaCl,(iii)30000 ppm NaCl,(iv)20000 ppm k.l,(v)30000 ppm k.l,(vi)20000 ppm CaCl2,(vii)30000 ppm CaCl2,(viii)50 ppm CuSO4,(ix)75 ppm CuSO_(4),(x)10000 ppm ZnSO4,(xi)15000 ppm ZnSO4,(xii)2 ppm Na2MoO4,(xiii)3 ppm Na2MoO4,(xiv)100 ppm PEG(Polyethylene glycol 4000)and (xv)150 ppm *** were sown on two different dates viz.,1st December and 1st January so that seedlings are exposed to cold stress at different *** experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design(CRD)with three *** indicated that(in most of the cases)seed priming has a positive impact on seedling emergence rate(%),root length,shoot length,root shoot ratio,root dry weight,shoot dry weight,seedling dry weight and survival rate(%).Among the priming agents,k.l and CaCl2 performed best;while priming with NaCl and PEG showed no advantages over no priming for both the sowing *** general,BRRI dhan36 performed better than BRRI dhan29 in terms of seedling growth because

Mark.r-Based and Mark.r-Less Motion Capturing Video Data: Person and Activity Identification Comparison Based on Machine Learning Approaches

Biomechanics is the study of physiological properties of data and the measurement of human *** normal conditions,behavioural properties in stable form are created using various inputs of subconscious/conscious human activities such as speech style,body movements in walk.ng patterns,writing style and voice *** cannot perform any change in these inputs that mak. results reliable and increase the *** aim of our study is to perform a comparative analysis between the mark.r-based motion capturing system(MBMCS)and the mark.r-less motion capturing system(MLMCS)using the lower body joint angles of human gait *** both the MLMCS and MBMCS,we collected trajectories of all the participants and performed joint angle computation to identify a person and recognize an activity(walk.and running).Using five state of the art machine learning algorithms,we obtained 44.6%and 64.3%accuracy in person identification using MBMCS and MLMCS respectively with an ensemble algorithm(two angles as features).In the second set of experiments,we used six machine learning algorithms to obtain 65.9%accuracy with the k.nearest neighbor(k.N)algorithm(two angles as features)and 74.6%accuracy with an ensemble ***,by increasing features(6 angles),we obtained higher accuracy of 99.3%in MBMCS for person recognition and 98.1%accuracy in MBMCS for activity recognition using the k.N *** is computationally expensive and if we redesign the model of OpenPose with more body joint points and employ more features,MLMCS(low-cost system)can be an effective approach for video data analysis in a person identification and activity recognition process.

The development of new materials,having exceptional properties in comparison to existing materials is highly required for bringing advancement in electronic and optoelectronic *** this fact,we investigated structural,electronic,and optical properties of zincblende GaN doped with selected Zn concentrations(6.25%,12.50%,and 18.70%),using the first-principle calculations based on density functional theory with GGA+*** conducted the entire study using the WIEN2k.*** this study,we calculated various significant parametric quantities such as cohesive energies,formation energies,bulk.moduli,and lattice constants along with the study of optical and electronic properties by substituting Ga atoms with Zn atoms in 1×2×2 *** structural stability is confirmed by studying the phonon dispersion curves which suggest that Zn:GaN material is stable against the 6.25%and 18.70%Zn concentrations while for 12.50%,it shows *** Hubbard values U=0,2,4,6 eV were added to GGA and the electronic properties were improved with the U=6 *** absorption was blue shifted while the refractive index and dielectric constant were increased with increasing the Zn *** properties are enhanced due to the prime contribution of cations(Zn)3ri *** optical and electronic properties are further discussed in detail in the entire study.

Functional MRI and MR Spectroscopy Utilization in Jeddah Hospitals

Functional magnetic resonance imaging “fMRI” and magnetic resonance spectroscopy “MRS” are two crucial milestones that were introduced apart from one another into brain imaging and their implementation in major local cities is eventual step. Thus, the purpose of this study was to compare those techniques in terms of their clinical utilization in patient care delivery among the major governmental and private hospitals within Jeddah city. The study initially included eighteen hospitals to identify whether they were utilizing fMRI and MRS in their clinical practice. Out of the 18 hospitals under study only one hospital (5.6%) had both fMRI and MRS software;7 (38.9%) had MRS but not fMRI;4 (22.2%) did not have fMRI or MRS;and 6 (33.3%) hospitals had no MRI machine at all. Out of the eight hospitals applying MRS with one being excluded, the starting date of application was 2002 in 4 (57.1%) hospitals, 2004 in 1 (14.3%) hospital, and 2006 in 2 (28.6%) hospitals. The frequency of doing MRS was once a week.in 2 (28.6%) hospitals, 2-3 cases/week.in 3 (42.9%) hospitals, 5-10 cases/week.in 1 (14.3%) hospital, and once every 6 months in 1 (14.3%) hospital. On the other hand, fMRI was applied only by one hospital starting in 2000 and was soon dismissed due to its time consumption and the inability of patients to accurately follow given instructions. It was concluded that MRS was more widely utilized compared to fMRI. Later on, a follow-up survey in the year of 2014 demonstrated that MRS has started to become a standard service in most hospitals whereas fMRI was still being unrecognized.
