Climate change is causing sea-level rise,intense and frequent storm surge flooding,and significant shoreline erosion in Malaysian coastal ***,coastal properties,infrastructure,and livelihoods are *** has become apparent that adaptation at the household and community level is necessary to offset the adverse impacts of coastal *** community needs to be made aware of the risks,acquire knowledge about adaptation options,and be empowered to take their own *** perception and preference are therefore crucial for design and implementation of effective planning for climate ***,this study assesses households'perception,adaptation measures and empirically estimates willingness to pay and preference for planned adaptation measures to guide policy instruments through public *** Malaysia,ten highly vulnerable coastal areas in the Selangor coast were surveyed at the household level(n=1016)through face-to-face interviews using a structured *** households’perception and adaptation methods,most of the households in the highly exposed areas perceived less risk of inundation and sea-level rise threat and adopted less proactive adaptation and limited risk reduction behaviours during the extreme *** study found that 66.9%of households were willing to pay for planned adaptation measures despite the limited income capabilities and in favour of moderate adaptation(23.9%).The binomial and ordinal regression results indicated that the probability of willingness to pay for planned adaptation measures significantly increases with age,prior exposure to coastal hazards,awareness,risk perception,community participation,being affected by property damage and loss of income due to extreme *** increased monthly household income and access to telecommunication services,households will probably pay higher for better adaptation measures.A significant amount of perceived yearly adaptation benefits in the coasta

High density of buildings and population in urban areas increases urban temperature, generally known as the urban heat island. Raised temperature, especially in SUlIuner, alms city centers into unwelcome hot areas, with direct effects on electricity demand and energy consttrnption for cooling buildings and increases the production of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Therefore, by considering that the energy consumption in the world has been faced with intense crisis, it becomes increasingly important to study the effects of urban heat island on energy constunption in order to improve people＇s environment and decrease energy use in cities. This paper, therefore, is focused on urbanization and population size factors to understand tile influence way of these factors on formation of UHI and energy consumption balance. To achieve this aim, this paper explores literally the conceptual framework of confliction between population and urban structure, which produce UHI intensity and affected energy consumption balance. It is then discussed how these two factors can be affected and give implication to the city, and then, focuses on whether actions should be taken for balancing adaptation and mitigation UHI effects. It will be concluded by making the recommendations for preventive action and provide quality of life.

We report a rapid method for synthesis of zeolitic imidazolate framework 8(ZIF-8)-decorated graphene oxide(GO)composites(ZGO)with good antibacterial *** ZGO composites were synthesized at room temperature with low GO to metal salt *** samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,thermal gravimetric analysis,and surface area *** characterization results show that ZIF-8 with a size of approximately 120 nm is successfully decorated on the surface of GO sheets with the host ZIF-8 framework maintained in the synthesized composite,but there is a significant reduction in the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface *** antibacterial activities of the samples against Escherichia coli ATCC 11229 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 as model strains of gram-negative and-positive bacteria,respectively,were determined by disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)***-1.0(1 wt%of ratio of GO to metal salt)shows the highest antibacterial activity with MIC values required to inhibit bacterial growth of *** and *** of 5 times lower than those of pristine *** antibacterial mechanisms are proposed based on field-emission scanning electron microscope images of the two bacteria after contact with the synthesized ***,owing to the simple synthesis,good stability,low chemical usage,and excellent antibacterial activity of the ZGO composites,they show great potential for application in the field of microbial contamination control.

Phytocompounds of Anonna muricata leaves extract and cytotoxic effects on breast cancer cells

Objective: To identify the phytochemical compounds from Annona muricata(A. muricata) and to determine their in vitro anti-proliferative activities against breast cancer cells, MCF7 and MDA-MB-231. Methods: A. muricata leaves were successively extracted by soxhlet method using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol, and decocted with water. Each extract was analysed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry(GCMS) and characterized with Wiley and NIST library searches. Anti-proliferative activity of each extract was evaluated on MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells using MTT assay. Results: The GCMS analysis of different solvent extracts of A. muricata leaves showed presence of different chemical groups of compounds such as steroids, terpenoids, phenolic compounds, sugars, sugars alcohol and others including vitamin E. Ethyl acetate leaves extract exhibited the lowest IC_(50) value on the MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell and n-hexane leaves extract showed the the lowest IC_(50) value on the MCF-7 breast cancer cell. Conclusion: Steroids and phenolic compounds were the main phytocompound groups identified from all A. muricata leaves extracts. The antiproliferative activity of n-hexane and ethyl acetate extract towards breast cancer MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 respectively might be due to the presence of biologically active compounds in the extracts, hence, providing some scientific evidences of the effectiveness of its traditional usages.

通过对马来西亚建筑项目的个体研究显示出其建筑设备机械的安全管理现状以及有可能引发的问题，本文旨在基于此研究结粜，强调建筑设备机械的安全管理的必要性。在过去几年中，政府致力于通过贯彻指导方针来实施安全健康政策，开展现场安全研讨会以及实施项目现场安全认证制度。建筑业作为马来西亚的第二大工业，同时又是工作现场事故发生最多的行业，由于不安全的施工现场引发的事故以及因此损失的利润使其深受影响。统计数据表明建筑设备及机械是造成这些事故的原因之一，因此，本文以“质量建设中的安全管理”为题，意在说明对于建筑设备和机械的安全管理的关系和重要性。同时设计一个可以用来作为管理指导方针的实用模型。“安全管理”对于马来西亚来说是一个新的管理概念，本文指出在马来西亚实施安全管理的范围，同时提出对于建筑设备机械进行安全管理的合理框架，通过研究发现，安全管理对于马来西亚而言仍是一个很新的概念，职业安全与健康法案，尤其是针对于建筑设备机械使用的安全与健康法案在马来西亚仍是空缺。另外，研究表明．在项目现场设立安全委员会是实旅安全管理的主要措施，但除此以外，安全管理的其他方面还未能被清楚阐明。建筑设备机械的安全管理需要一个长时间及过程的调整。这将使其不可能在短时间内得以实施。因此，本文吸取了研究中的发现，利用指示方法建立了一个用以详细说明建筑设备机械安全管理这一基本概念的实用框架模型。模型采用Walker.A（1993）提出的管理实用基础模型作为原型用以突出其关键元素，而其关键节点或关键过程则是基于个体调查得出的结果。

Preparation and Characterization of Cu-Zn Nano-Structural Ferrite Thin Films Produced by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD)

Cu-Zn ferrite nano thin films were deposited from a target of Cu-Zn ferrite onto a sapphire substrate using XeCl excimer laser operating 308 nm with an energy of 225 mJ and a frequency of 30 Hz. Films were deposited from the target onto sapphire (001) substrates heated to 650℃ in an oxygen atmosphere of 100 mTorr. The laser beam was incident On the target face at an angle of 45°. Studies on crystal structure were done by X-ray diffactometry (XRD). The surface texture, cross-section morphology and grain size was observed by JEOL-JSM-6400 scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and magnetic force microscopy (MFM) [Model DI 3000, Digital instruments].

Vaccination is crucial in controlling the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)that triggered the pandemic,but herd immunity can only work with high vaccination coverage in the *** study aims to measure the COVID-19 knowledge level and determine the factors influencing COVID-19 vaccination intention among university students in Malaysia.A cross-sectional online survey was carried out with 1,274 Malaysian university students in July *** and multivariate analyses were employed to examine the relationships between the study *** showed that the majority of university students had an acceptable level of knowledge of *** knowledge,risk perception of COVID-19,social norms,and perceived benefit of COVID-19 vaccination were positively associated with vaccination ***,perceived trust in information sources of COVID-19 vaccination and the government's response to COVID-19 did not affect the university students’desire to receive the *** findings are essential for health policymakers and healthcare providers to implement evidence-based interventions to increase COVID-19 vaccination uptake among university students.
