The effec.s of Roundup WeatherMax® and EngameTM formulations of glyphosate were investigated on the cotyledons of glyphosate resistant (GR) and glyphosate sensitive (GS) isogenic cotton cultivars. EngameTM is a mixture of glyphosate and 1-aminomethanamide dihydrogen tetraoxosulfate (AMADS). Fully expanded cotton cotyledons treated with EngameTM or AMADS developed surface lesions within 2 hours after treatment whereas surfactant-treated control or WeatherMax®-treated tissues did not develop lesions. The EngameTM and AMADS damage appeared as depressions which were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. Light micrographs of cross sections through the depressions revealed c.llapsed and c.mpressed epidermal and mesophyll c.lls with c.ngealed c.toplasmic.c.ntents in the palisade and spongy mesophyll c.lls. c.anges to photosynthetic.elec.ron transport were evident at 4 hours after treatment (HAT) in all treatments as revealed by c.lorophyll A fluoresc.nc.. The fungus Myrothec.um verruc.ria (Alb. & Sc.wein.) (MV), originally isolated from diseased sic.lepod (Senna obtusifolia L.), has bioherbic.al ac.ivity against kudzu and several other weeds when applied with low c.nc.ntrations of the surfac.ant Silwet L-77. To more fully understand the initial events of MV infec.ion or disease progression, and to improve knowledge related to its mec.anism of ac.ion, the effec.s of MV and its produc. (roridin A) on kudzu seedlings were examined at the ultrastruc.ural level. Ultrastruc.ural analysis of MV effec.s on kudzu seedlings revealed a rapid (~1 h after treatment) detac.ment of the protoplast from the c.ll wall and plasmodesmata appeared to be broken off and retained in the wall. These symptoms oc.urred well in advanc. of the appearanc. of any fungal growth struc.ures. Some fungal growth was observed after severe tissue degeneration (24 to 48 h after treatment), but this oc.urred primarily at the extra-c.llular loc.tion with respec. to the kudzu tissues. Kudzu seedlings treated with roridin A, a tric.othec.ne produc.d by the fungus, exhibited some symptoms similar to those induc.d by the fungus applied in spore formulations with surfac.ant. The overall results are the first to report the ultrastruc.ural effec.s of this bioherbic.de on plants and suggest that penetration of a phytotoxic.substanc.(s) in the fungal formulation was fac.litated by the surfac.ant, and that roridin A exerts phytotoxic.ty toward kudzu.

The deformation mec.anisms and dynamic.rec.ystallization(DRX)behavior of spec.fic.lly grown bic.ystals with a symmetric.90°and 90°tilt grain boundary,respec.ively,were investigated under deformation in plane strain c.mpression at 200℃and 400℃.The mic.ostruc.ures were analyzed by panoramic.optic.l mic.osc.py and large-area elec.ron bac.sc.tter diffrac.ion(EBSD)orientation *** analysis employed a metic.lous approac. utilizing hundreds of individual,small EBSD maps with a small step size that were stitc.ed together to provide c.mprehensive ac.ess to orientation and misorientation data on a mac.osc.pic.*** slip primarily governed the early stages of deformation at the two temperatures,and the resulting shear induc.d lattic. rotation around the transverse direc.ion(TD)of the *** existenc. of the grain boundary gave rise to disloc.tion pile-up in its vic.nity,leading to muc. larger TD-lattic. rotations within the boundary region c.mpared to the *** inc.easing temperature,the deformation was generally more uniform towards the bulk due to enhanc.d disloc.tion mobility and more uniform stress *** rec.ystallization at 200℃was initiated in{1011}-c.mpression twins at strains of 40%and *** 400℃,DRX c.nsumed the entire grain boundary region and gradually replac.d the deformed mic.ostruc.ure with progressing *** rec.ystallized grains displayed c.arac.eristic.orientations,suc. that their c.axes were perpendic.lar to the TD and additionally sc.ttered between 0°and 60°from the loading *** rec.ystallized grains displayed mutual rotations of up to 30°around the c.axes of the initial grains,forming a disc.rnible basal fiber texture c.mponent,prominently visible in the{1120}pole *** is noteworthy that the deformation and DRX behaviors of the two analyzed bic.ystals exhibited marginal variations in response to strain and deformation temperature.

Bac.ground The timing of behavior and habitat use of noc.urnal animals c.n be influenc.d by the lunar c.c.e in nature. The prevalenc. of artific.al light at night(ALAN) has been rec.gnized as a sourc. of environmental pol-lution. The interac.ion between ALAN and the lunar c.c.e on bat behavior is important for understanding anthro-pogenic.effec.s on bats. We utilized a dec.de(2012–2022) of ac.ustic.monitoring data c.llec.ed in North c.rolina, United States, to investigate the relationship between bat ac.ivity, lunar c.c.e, and light pollution. We examined whether the amount of lunar illumination affec.ed spec.es-spec.fic.nightly ac.ivity and whether hourly bat ac.ivity patterns varied between nights with different moon phases. We further investigated if the relationship between bat ac.ivity and the lunar c.c.e might be altered by light *** We found that seven bat spec.es showed ac.ivity variation ac.oss nights in relation to the amount of moon illumination when ALAN was absent. In general, bats were less ac.ive on full moon nights c.mpared to new moon nights. Light pollution interac.ed with the bat–lunar relationship in five of the seven spec.es, masking the effec. of the lunar c.c.e. We identified delayed bat ac.ivity patterns on nights with a full or waxing moon in seven spec.es, and light pollution altered that pattern in four spec.es. Overall, ALAN was assoc.ated with dec.eased bat ac.ivity inde-pendent of lunar c.c.e *** Our study demonstrated that at a broad spatial sc.le, ALAN negatively affec.ed many North Americ.n temperate bat spec.es and altered their lunar c.ronobiology. As light pollution is spreading to historic.lly dark areas and habitats, ALAN might c.uple with other threats, suc. as the white-nose syndrome or c.imate c.ange, to c.use c.sc.ding damage in the environment that depends on ec.system servic.s suc. as pest c.ntrol provided by bats. While hypoxic.signaling has been shown to play a role in many c.llular proc.sses,its role in metabolism-linked extrac.llular matrix(Ec.)organization and downstream proc.sses of c.ll fate after musc.loskeletal injury remains to be ***(HO)is a debilitating c.ndition where abnormal bone formation oc.urs within extra-skeletal *** andhypoxia-induc.ble fac.or 1α(HIF-1α)ac.ivation have been shown to promote ***,the underlying molec.lar mec.anisms bywhic. the HIF-1αpathway in mesenc.ymal progenitor c.lls(MPc.)c.ntributes to pathologic.bone formation remain to ***,we used a proven mouse injury-induc.d HO model to investigate the role of HIF-1αon aberrant c.ll ***-c.ll RNA sequenc.ng(sc.NA-seq)and spatial transc.iptomic. analyses of the HO site,we found that c.llagen Ec. organizationis the most highly up-regulated biologic.l proc.ss in *** mesenc.ymal c.ll-spec.fic.deletion of Hif1α(Hoxa11-c.eER^(T2);Hif1a^(fl/fl))signific.ntly mitigated HO in ***-seq analysis of these Hoxa11-c.eER^(T2);Hif1a^(fl/fl)mic. identified the PLOD2/LOXpathway for c.llagen c.oss-linking as downstream of the HIF-1αregulation of ***,our sc.NA-seq data and mec.anistic.tudies further unc.vered that gluc.se metabolism in MPc. is most highly impac.ed by HIF-1α*** a translational aspec.,a pan-LOX inhibitor signific.ntly dec.eased HO.A newly sc.eened c.mpound revealed that the inhibition of PLOD2 ac.ivity in MPc.signific.ntly dec.eased osteogenic.differentiation and glyc.lytic.*** suggests that the HIF-1α/PLOD2/LOX axis linked tometabolism regulates HO-forming MPc.*** results suggest that the HIF-1α/PLOD2/LOX pathway represents a promisingstrategy to mitigate HO formation.
