Extreme Mei-yu rainfall(MYR)can cause catastrophic impacts to the economic development and societal welfare in *** significant improvements have been made in climate models,they often struggle to simulate local-to-regional extreme rainfall(e.g.,MYR).Yet,large-scale climate modes(LSCMs)are relatively well represented in climate *** there exists a close relationship between MYR and various LSCMs,it might be possible to develop causality-guided statistical models for MYR prediction based on *** statistical models could then be applied to climate model simulations to improve the representation of MYR in climate *** this pilot study,it is demonstrated that skillful causality-guided statistical models for MYR can be constructed based on known *** relevancy of the selected predictors for statistical models are found to be consistent with the *** importance of temporal resolution in constructing statistical models for MYR is also shown and is in good agreement with the *** results demonstrate the reliability of the causality-guided approach in studying complex circulation systems such as the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM).Some limitations and possible improvements of the current approach are *** application of the causality-guided approach opens up a new possibility to uncover the complex interactions in the EASM in future studies.

The precise building performance assessment of residential housings in subtropical regions is usually more difficult than that for the commercial premises due to the much more complicated behavior of the occupants with regard to the change in indoor *** conventional use of a fixed schedule for window opening,clothing insulation and cooling equipment operation cannot reflect the real situation when the occupants respond to the change in thermal comfort,thus affecting the appropriateness of the assessment *** rectify the situation,a new modeling strategy in which the modification of the various operation schedules was based on the calculated thermal comfort(TC),was developed in this *** this new TC-based strategy,the realistic building performances under different cooling provision scenarios applied to a high-rise residential building under the near extreme weather conditions were investigated and *** was found that sole provision of ventilation fans could not meet the zone thermal comfort by over 68%of the time,and air-conditioning was *** optimal use of ventilation fans for cooling could only help reduce the total cooling energy demand by less than 12%at best which could only be realistically evaluated by adopting the present *** studies were conducted which revealed that some design factors could offer opportunities for reducing the total cooling energy under the near extreme weather conditions.

The Einstein's general relativity is formulated in the Hamiltonian form for a spatially flat, isotropic and homogeneous universe. Subsequently, we perform the canonical quantization procedure to the Hamiltonian to obtain the Wheeler–DeWitt equation. Solving the Wheeler–DeWitt equation and employing the de Broglie–Bohm interpretation to the wave function of the universe, we obtain a new version of spatially flat Friedmann equation for the early universe where the scale factor of the universe is taken to be sufciently small.

Introduction: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the third most prevalent cancer among Malaysian males, often diagnosed at advanced stages, leading to suboptimal outcomes. While transrectal ultrasound-guided systematic biopsy (TRUS-SB) is the primary diagnostic method, prebiopsy multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) is gaining popularity in identifying suspicious lesions. This study addresses the lack of comprehensive investigations into the efficacy of cognitive registration TRUS targeted biopsy (COG-TB) compared to conventional TRUS-SB, considering the resource limitations of the Malaysian healthcare system. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in two Malaysian healthcare facilities. 116 adult patients with a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level of more than 4 ng/mL who underwent both COG-TB and TRUS-SB between October 2020 and March 2022 were included. Primary outcomes were cancer detection rate and histopathological outcomes, including Gleason score. Results: COG-TB showed a higher overall cancer detection rate (50%) compared to TRUS-SB (44%). Clinically significant cancer detection rates were similar between COG-TB and TRUS-SB (37.1%). Further analysis revealed that both COG-TB and TRUS-SB detected clinically significant cancer in 30.2% of patients, did not detect it in 56.0%, and had conflicting findings in 16 patients (p Conclusion: COG-TB and TRUS-SB have comparable detection rates for clinically significant prostate cancer, with COG-TB showing a higher tendency to detect insignificant prostate cancer. Further studies comparing these methods are warranted.

Aberrant chromosomal fusion of the Ewing's sarcoma oncogene(EWS)to several different cellular partners produces the Ewing's family of oncoproteins(EWSfusion-proteins,EFPs)and associated tumors(EFTs).EFPs are potent transcriptional activators,dependent on the N-terminal region of EWS(the EWS-activationdomain,EAD)and this function is thought to be central to EFT oncogenesis and *** EFPs are promising therapeutic targets,but detailed molecular studies will be pivotal for exploring this *** studies have so far largely been restricted to intact mammalian cells while recent evidence has indicated that a mammalian cell-free transcription system may not support bona fide EAD ***,the lack of manipulatable assays for the EAD presents a significant barrier to *** Xenopus laevis oocytes we describe a plasmid-based micro-injection assay that supports efficient,bona fide EAD transcriptional activity and hence provides a new vehicle for molecular dissection of the EAD.

The evolutionarily conserved RNA Polymerase Ⅱ Rpb4/7 sub-complex has been thoroughly studied in yeast and impacts gene expression at multiple levels including transcription,mRNA processing and *** addition Rpb4/7 exerts differential effects on gene expression in yeast and Rpb4 is not obligatory for yeast(***)*** roles for human(hs)Rpb4/7 have not been extensively described and we have probed this question by depleting hsRpb4/7 in established human cell lines using RNA *** find that Rpb4/7 protein levels are inter-dependent and accordingly,the functional effects of depleting either protein are ***4/7 exhibits gene-specific effects and cells initially remain viable upon hsRpb4/7 *** prolonged hsRpb4/7 depletion is cytotoxic in the range of cell lines *** cell death occurs by an unknown mechanism and in some cases is accompanied by a pronounced elongated cell *** conclusion we provide evidence for a gene-specific role of hsRpb4/7 in human cell viability.
