In live donor liver transplantation, anatomical anomalies of the portal vein are more frequently encountered in right lobe than left lobe grafts. Of these, a dual portal vein is one of the most common anatomical anomalies encountered. We hereby report our method of using a recipient portal vein patch after venoplasty for reconstruction in a right lobe graft with separate anterior and posterior portal vein branches.

Objective: To conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis(NMA) for the comparison of the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal injection(ChI) combined with Western medicine(WM) and WM monotherapy for chronic renal failure(CRF).Methods: Eight databases were searched from inception to August 30, 2022. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) regarding the comparison of ChI-WM combination therapy and WM monotherapy were included. Literature search, risk-of-bias assessment, and data extraction were conducted by 2 reviewers independently. NMA was performed by Stata 14.0, R 4.0.4 software, and the latest risk of bias assessment tool 2(RoB 2).Results: A total of 53 RCTs were finally included, involving 4445 participants and 16 ChIs. RoB 2 showed that 2 of these studies had a high risk of bias. Tianqi injection(TQ) + WM was the most effective in reducing serum creatinine(Scr) level. Xingding injection(XD) + WM was the most effective in reducing blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and cystatin C(Cys C) levels. Guhong injection(Gh) + WM had the highest endogenous creatinine clearance rate(Ccr). Shuxuetong injection(SXT) + WM was the most effective in improving the clinical effective rate. Danhong injection(Dh) + WM resulted in the lowest 24-h urinary protein quantity(24 h-UPQ), while Danshen injection(DS) + WM led to the lowest blood uric acid(UA)level. Shenfu injection(SF) + WM was the most effective in increasing hemoglobin(hb) ***: ChIs-WM combination therapy is more effective than WM monotherapy in treating *** all of the indicators, SK + WM may be the optimal treatment option for improving renal function in patients with CRF.

We propose and demonstrate a novel variable PDL emulator based on a LiNbO3 modulator. The proposed emulator could vary the PDL values simply by adjusting the bias voltage of modulator. The results show that the proposed PDL emulator could generate a wide range of PDL values (0 ~ 35 dB). The generated PDL value could be maintained within ±0.02 dB for >70 minutes. The wavelength dependency was about 0.03 dB in the range of 1520 nm~ 1590 nm.

Effects of C/N ratio on nitrate removal and floc morphology of autohydrogenotrophic bacteria in a nitrate-containing wastewater treatment process

The effects of C/N ratio of a nitrate-containing wastewater on nitrate removal performed by autohydrogenotrophic bacteria as well as on the morphological parameters of floc such as floc morphology, floc number distribution, mean particle size（MPS）, aspect ratio and transparency were examined in this study. The results showed that the nitrate reduction rate increased with increasing C/N ratio from 0.5 to 10 and that the nitrogen removal of up to 95% was found at the C/N ratios of higher than 5（between 0.5–10）. Besides, high C/N ratio values reflected a corresponding high nitrite accumulation after 12-hr operation, and a fast decreasing rate of nitrite in the rest of operational time. The final p h values increased with the C/N ratio increasing from 0.5 to 2.5, but decreased with the C/N ratio increasing from2.5 to 10. There were no significant changes in floc morphology with the MPSs ranging from35 to 40 μm. Small and medium-sized flocs were dominant in the sludge suspension, and the number of flocs increased with the increasing C/N ratios. Furthermore, the highest apparent frequency of 10% was observed at aspect ratios of 0.5 and 0.6, while the transparency of flocs changed from 0.1 to 0.7.

In this paper, we report a rapid synthesis of piezoelectric ZnO-nanostructures and fabrication of the nanostructures- based power-generators demonstrating an energy conversion from an environmental mechanical/ultrasonic energy to an electrical energy. The ZnO nanostructures are grown on a silicon wafer by a modified chemical solution method （CSD, chemical-solution-deposition） with a two-step thermal-oxidation approach. The synthesis process can be completed within 1 h. By varying the mixture-ratio of Zn micro-particles in an oxalic acid solution with 0.75 mol/l concentration in the CSD process, the growth mechanism is well-controlled to synthesize three different types of ZnO-nanostructures （i.e., dandelion-like nanostructures, columnar nanostructures, and nanowires）. Furthermore, through oxidizing at different temperatures in the thermal-oxidation process, the featured geometry of the nanostructures （e.g., the length and diameter of a nanowire） is modified. The geometry, size, morphology, crystallization, and material phase of the modified nanostructures are characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Finally, the nanostructures are used to fabricate several micro power-generators. Through the piezoelectric effect, a maximum current density output of 0.28 μA cm-2 generated by a power-generator under an ultrasonic wave is observed.
