Ferroptosis is a novel type of regulated cell death (RCD) involving iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation. Since its discovery in 2012, various studies have shown that ferroptosis is associated with the pathogenesis of various diseases. Ferroptotic cell death has also been linked to intestinal dysfunction but can act as either a positive or negative regulator of intestinal disease, depending on the cell type and disease context. The continued investigation of mechanisms underlying ferroptosis provides a wealth of potential for developing novel treatments. Considering the growing prevalence of intestinal diseases, particularly colorectal cancer (CRC) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), this review article focuses on potential therapeutics targeting the ferroptotic pathway in relation to CRC and IBD. Envita’s Precision Cancer Care: 35-Fold Improvement in Response Rates

new clinical approaches are imperative beyond the widely adopted national Comprehensive Cancer network (nCCn) guidelines, utilized by prominent cancer institutions. Cancer is the leading cause of death among individuals younger than 85 years within the United States. Despite significant technological advances, including the expenditure of hundreds of billions, treatment outcomes and overall survival have not notably improved for most types of advanced cancer over the last several decades. Over the past 24 years, Envita Medical Centers has pioneered a unique form of personalized treatment approach for late-stage and refractory cancer patients, introducing groundbreaking innovations in the field. Our integrated algorithm utilizes advanced genomics, transcriptomics, and highly tailored immunotherapy, resulting in remarkable outcome improvements. This study presents Envita’s innovative personalized treatment algorithms and examines the response outcomes of 199 late-stage cancer patients treated at Envita Medical Centers over a two-year period. Compared to standard of care and palliative chemotherapy, Envita’s treatment demonstrated a remarkable 35-fold improvement in overall response rates (Figure 1). Moreover, 88% of the patients, the majority presenting with Stage 3 or 4 cancer, experienced a 43-fold improvement in quality of life with minimal side effects, as compared to standard of care chemotherapy and palliative care. This revolutionary success is attributed to Envita’s personalized therapeutic algorithms, which incorporate customized immunotherapy. Envita’s precision care approach has also achieved a 100% better response rate compared to over 65 global chemotherapy clinical trials with more than 2700 patients. The results from this study suggest that a wider utilization of Envita’s personalized approach can significantly benefit patients with late-stage and refractory cancer.

Objective:Despite the known benefits of integrated primary care and behavioral health services,integrated behavioral health services have not been readily used in medical clinics in interior *** minimal resources,we recently developed an integrated primary care-behavioral health program in a medical clinic in interior Alaska to meet clinic and community *** objective of this study was to explore initial program outcomes and determine the feasibility of program development and ***:We initially conducted a needs assessment for integrating behavioral health services into primary *** development was informed by specific clinic *** program implementation,initial program outcomes were tracked with use of data from the electronic health record and patient and provider use and satisfaction *** level of integration of primary care and behavioral health services was evaluated with the Practice Integration ***:A total of 188 patients were seen by behavioral health consultants during the initial pilot phase,including 44.0%referred for mental health symptoms,33.1%referred for physical health issues,and 22.3%referred for both mental and physical health *** initial program outcomes indicate modest clinical improvement(measured by the nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire)as well as patient and provider satisfaction with the model,and a moderate level of practice ***:On the basis of the initial findings,it appears that our integrated primary care-behavioral health program has the potential to serve an important role in addressing the behavioral health needs of the local *** implementation procedure and initial program outcomes suggest that such models are feasible in rural and small-scale settings with minimal overhead costs.

The USA is currently going through an opioid crisis, associated with tremendous economic and societal impacts. In response to this crisis, healthcare professionals are looking for alternative pain management methods, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nSAIDs) are a sensible choice because of their effectiveness after surgical procedures. However, before surgeons start prescribing nSAIDs in place of opioids, it is crucial to first understand their potential post-surgical complications. The goal of this review is to summarize the data obtained through both animal and human studies, which suggest how a dramatic increase in nSAID use may affect these post-surgical complications. We first provide a short review outlining the mechanisms of action of nSAIDs, followed by a summary of animal studies, which show a trend towards the negative effects of nSAIDs on wound healing and an association between nSAID use and wound infections. Lastly, we present evidence from human studies on the association of nSAIDs with the following complications:anastomotic leaks, necrotizing soft tissue infections, bleeding complications, orthopedic injuries, wound healing, and cancer care. The human studies are much more variable in their conclusions as to whether nSAIDs are beneficial or not, with the only strong evidence showing that nSAIDs inhibit bone healing. This may partially be explained by male and female differences in response to nSAIDs as many animal studies showing the inhibitory effects of nSAIDs were performed on females, while al the human studies were performed with both sexes. We conclude that strong caution should be used in the prescription of nSAIDs, especially in female patients, but larger scale studies are warranted before solid recommendations can be made.
