This case report study investigated the botanical,physicochemical,and phenolic compositions,as well as the antioxidant and antimicrobial properties of varying amounts of black cumin honey(Nigella sativa)from Burdur region of Tü*** samples had an average moisture value of 17.23%and a Nigella sativa pollen ratio ranging from 19%to 51%.Electrical conductivity(EC)values ranged from 0.36 to 0.54 mS/*** average color values of Hunter(L,a,b)were 43.55(L^(*)),32.77(a^(*)),and 64.52(b^(*)),*** proline contents were ranged from 875 to 1624 mg/*** average F/G ratio and F+G value were 1.43±0.11 and 68.75±4.75,*** average of total phenolic(TP)and total flavonoid(TF)contents were 36.87±7.00 mg GAE/100 g and 5.63±1.45 mg QUE/100 g,*** antioxidant capacities of the samples were tested using the ferric reducing/antioxidant power(FRAP)and 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)assays,with mean values of 179.40±25.35μmol FeSO_(4).7H_(2)O/100 g and 46.07±12.87 mg/mL,*** phenolic composition of the samples were tested using the HPLC-PDA method with 25 phenolic *** acid,p-OH benzoic acid,t-cinnamic acid,p-coumaric acid,chrysin,and pinocembrin were determined as common *** sam-ples exhibited high antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Chromobacterium vio-laceum,Bacillus cereus,Klebsiella pneumoniae,and Acinetobacter haemolyticus,but did not affect Candida albicans,Candida parapilopsis,or Mycobacterium smegmatis.

Robust Backstepping Control of a Quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle under Colored Noises

Advances in software and hardware technologies have facilitated the production of quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).Nowadays,people actively use quadrotor UAVs in essential missions such as search and rescue,counter-terrorism,firefighting,surveillance,and cargo *** performing these tasks,quadrotors must operate in noisy ***,a robust controller design that can control the altitude and attitude of the quadrotor in noisy environments is of great *** researchers have focused only on white Gaussian noise in their studies,whereas researchers need to consider the effects of all colored noises during the operation of the *** study aims to design a robust controller that is resistant to all colored ***,a nonlinear quadrotormodel was created with ***,a backstepping controller resistant to colored noises was *** backstepping controller was tested under Gaussian white,pink,brown,blue,and purple *** and Lyapunov-based controller designswere also carried out,and their time responses(rise time,overshoot,settling time)were compared with those of the backstepping *** the simulations,time was in seconds,altitude was in meters,and roll,pitch,and yaw references were in *** and settling time values were in seconds,and overshoot value was in *** the obtained values are examined,simulations prove that the proposed backstepping controller has the least overshoot and the shortest settling time under all noise types.

Efficacy and safety of pegylated-interferon α-2a in hemodialysis patients with chronic hepatitis C

AIM： To evaluate the efficacy and safety of pegylated- interferon alpha-2a in hemodialysis patients with chronic hepatitis C. METHODS： Thirty-six hemodialysis patients with chronic hepatitis C were enrolled in a controlled and prospective study. All patients were treatment naive, positive tested for anti-HCV antibodies, and positive tested for serum HCV-RNA. Twenty-two patients received 135 μg peglyated-interferon α-2a weekly for 48 wk （group A）. The remaining patients were left untreated, eleven refused therapy, and three were not candidates for kidney transplantation and were allocated to the control group （group B）. At the end of the treatment biochemical and virological response was evaluated, and 24 wk after completetion of therapy sustained virological response （SVR） was assessed. Side effects were monitored. RESULTS： Of 22 hemodialysis patients, 12 were male and 10 female, with a mean age of 35.2 ± 12.1 years. Virological end-of-treatment response was observed in 14 patients （82.4%） in group A and in one patient （7.1%） in group B （P = 0.001）. Sustained virological response was observed in 11 patients （64.7%） in group A and in one patient in group B （7.1%）. Biochemical response parameters normalized in 10/14 patients （71.4%） at the end of the treatment. ALT levels in group B were initially high in six patients and normalized in one of them （25%） at the end of the 48 wk. In five patients （22.7%） therapy had to be stopped at mo 4 due to complications of weakness, anemia, and bleeding. CONCLUSION： SVR could be achieved in 64.7% of patients on hemodialysis with chronic hepatitis C by a treatment with peglyated-interferon α-2a. Group A had a significantly better efficacy compared to the control group B, but the side effects need to be concerned.

In-vivo corneal biomechanical analysis of unilateral keratoconus

AIMTo evaluate and compare corneal biomechanical findings measured by ocular response analyzer, topographic and pachymetric findings in patients with unilateral keratoconus patients and healthy *** is an observational, case-control study. Patients with keratoconus in one eye and forme fruste keratoconus in the fellow eye were compared with sex and age matched with controls healthy subjects. All subjects were evaluated with rotating scheimpflug imaging system. The receiver-operating-characteristic curves were analyzed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the ***-seven patients with keratoconus in one eye and forme fruste keratoconus in the fellow eye were compared with 40 eyes of 40 normal subjects. Corneal hysteresis (CH) was 8.0±1.7 mm Hg in keratoconus group, 8.3±1.6 mm Hg in forme fruste keratoconus group, and 9.8±1.6 mm Hg in control groups (P=0.54 between keratoconus and forme fruste keratoconus groups, P<0.01 between control group and other groups). Corneal resistance factor (CRF) was 7.1±2.2 mm Hg in keratoconus group, 7.8±1.2 mm Hg in forme fruste keratoconus group and 9.9±1.5 mm Hg in control group (P<0.001 between control group and other groups). Using receiver-operating-characteristic analysis, the area under curve values of the parameters to distinguish forme fruste keratoconus from control subjects were: CH (0.768), CRF (0.866). Best cut-off points were 9.3 mm Hg and 8.8 mm Hg for CH and CRF *** response analyzer parameters (CH and CRF) are found to be significantly lower in forme fruste keratoconus patients compared to normal control subjects.

A rare case: Spontaneous cutaneous fistula of infected splenic hydatid cyst

Hydatid disease is caused by the larval stage of the genus Echinococcus. Live hydatid cysts can rupture into physiologic channels, free body cavities or adjacent organs. Although hydatid disease can develop anywhere in the human body, the liver is the most frequently involved organ, followed by the lungs. Cysts of the spleen are unusual. There are only five case reports of spontaneous cutaneous fistulization of liver hydatid cysts in the literature. But there isn＇t any report about cutaneous fistula caused by splenic hydatid cyst. We report a first case of spontaneous cutaneous fistula of infected splenic hydatid cyst. A 43-year-old man was admitted to our Emergency Service with abdominal pain and fluid drainage from the abdominal wall. He has been suffering from a reddish swelling on the abdominal wall skin for four months. After a white membrane had been protruded out from his abdominal wall, he was admitted to our Emergency Service. On physical examination, a white membrane was seen to protrude out from the 2 crux I cm skin defect on the left superolateral site of the umblicus. Large, complex, cystic and solid mass of 9.5 cm-diameter was located in the spleen on ultrasonographic examination. At operation, partial cystectomy and drainage was performed. After the operation, he was given a dosage of 10 mg/kg per day of albendazole, divided into three doses. He was discharged on the postoperative 10^th d. It should be kept in mind that splenic hydatid cysts can cause such a rare complication.

AIM： To investigate the effects of propolis on bacterial translocation and ultrastructure of intestinal morphology in experimental obstructive jaundice. METHODS： Thirty Wistar-Albino male rats were randomly divided into three groups, each including 10 animals： group Ⅰ, sham-operated; group Ⅱ, ligation and division of the common bile duct （BDL）; group Ⅲ, BDL followed by oral supplementation of propolis 100 mg/kg per day. Liver, blood, spleen, mesenteric lymph nodes, and ileal samples were taken for microbiological, light and transmission electron microscopic examination on postoperative 7^th d after sacrification. RESULTS： The mean number of villi per centimeter and mean mucosal height of the propolis group were significantly different in the BDL group （P = 0.001 and 0.012, respectively）. The electron microscopic changes were also different between these groups. Sham and BDL＋propolis groups had similar incidence of bacterial translocation （BT）. The BDL group had significantly higher rates of BT as compared with sham and BDL ＋ propolis groups. BT was predominantly detected in MLNs and the most commonly isolated bacteria was Escherichia coil CONCLUSION： Propolis showed a significant protective effect on ileal mucosa and reduced bacterial translocation in the experimental obstructive jaundice model. Further studies should be carried out to explain the mechanisms of these effects,

Rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm into sigmoid colon:A case report

Primary aorto-colic fistula is rarely reported in the literature. Although infrequently encountered, it is an important complication since it is usually fatal unless detected. Primary aorto-colic fistula is a spontaneous rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm into the lumen of the adjacent colon loop. Here we report a case of primary aorto-colic fistula in a 54-year old male. The fistulated sigmoid colon was repaired by end-to-end anastomosis. Despite inotropic support, the patient died of sepsis and multiorgan failure on the first postoperative day.

Honey prevents hepatic damage induced by obstruction of the common bile duct

AIM:To examine the possible effects of honey supplementation on hepatic damage due to obstruction of the common bile duct in an experimental rat model. METHODS:The study was performed with 30 male rats divided into three groups:a sham group,an obstructive jaundice group,and an obstructive jaundice plus honey group. At the end of the study period,the animals were sacrificed,and levels of nitric oxide(NO) ,and NO synthase(NOS) activities were measured in liver tissues,and levels of adenosine deaminase(ADA) and alanine transaminase(ALT) activities were measured in serum. RESULTS:Blood ALT and ADA activities were significantly elevated in the jaundice group as compared to those of the sham group. In the obstructive jaundice plus honey group,blood ALT and ADA activities were significantly decreased as compared to those of the jaundice group. In erythrocytes and liver tissues,NO levels were found to be significantly higher in the obstructive jaundice plus honey group compared to those of the sham group. Additionally,NO levels were found to be significantly higher in liver tissues from the animals in the obstructive jaundice plus honey group than those of the jaundice ***:Honey was found to be beneficial in the prevention of hepatic damage due to obstruction of the common bile duct.

Growing and Pruning Based Deep Neural Networks Modeling for Effective Parkinson’s Disease Diagnosis

Parkinson’s disease is a serious disease that causes ***,a new dataset has been introduced on this *** aim of this study is to improve the predictive performance of the model designed for Parkinson’s disease *** and large,original DNN models were designed by using specific or random number of neurons and *** study analyzed the effects of parameters,i.e.,neuron number and activation function on the model performance based on growing and pruning *** other words,this study addressed the optimum hidden layer and neuron numbers and ideal activation and optimization functions in order to find out the best Deep Neural Networks *** this context of this study,several models were designed and *** overall results revealed that the Deep Neural Networks were significantly successful with 99.34%accuracy value on test ***,it presents the highest prediction performance reported so ***,this study presents a model promising with respect to more accurate Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.
