management of forest lands considering multi-functional approaches is the basis to sustain or enhance the provi-sion of specific benefits,while minimizing negative impacts to the *** a desired management itinerary to a forest depends on a variety of factors,including the forest type,its ecological characteristics,and the social and economic needs of local communities.A strategic assessment of the forest use suitability(FUS)(namely productive,protective,conservation-oriented,social and multi-functional)at regional level,based on the provision of forest ecosystem services and trade-offs between FUS alternatives,can be used to develop management strategies that are tailored to the specific needs and conditions of the *** present study assesses the provision of multiple forest ecosystem services and employs a decision model to identify the FUS that sup-ports the most present and productive ecosystem services in each stand in *** this purpose,we apply the latest version of the Ecosystem management Decision Support(EmDS)system,a spatially oriented decision support system that provides accurate results for multi-criteria *** evaluate 32 metrics and 12 as-sociated ecosystem services indicators to represent the spatial reality of the *** to the results,the dominant primary use suitability is social,followed by protective and ***,final assignment of uses is not straightforward and requires an exhaustive analysis of trade-offs between all alternative options,in many cases identifying flexible outcomes,and increasing the representativeness of multi-functional *** assignment of forest use suitability aims to significantly improve the definition of the most adequate management strategy to be applied.

Folding of the cerebral cortex is a prominent characteristic of mammalian *** or deficits in cortical folding are strongly correlated with abnormal brain function,cognition,and ***,a precise mapping between the anatomy and function of the brain is critical to our understanding of the mechanisms of brain structural architecture in both health and *** and sulci,the standard nomenclature for cortical anatomy,serve as building blocks to make up complex folding patterns,providing a window to decipher cortical anatomy and its relation with brain *** efforts have been devoted to this research topic from a variety of disciplines including genetics,cell biology,anatomy,neuroimaging,and neurology,as well as involving computational approaches based on machine learning and artificial intelligence ***,despite increasing progress,our understanding of the functional anatomy of gyro-sulcal patterns is still in its *** this review,we present the current state of this field and provide our perspectives of the methodologies and conclusions concerning functional differentiation between gyri and sulci,as well as the supporting information from genetic,cell biology,and brain structure *** particular,we will further present a proposed framework for attempting to interpret the dynamic mechanisms of the functional interplay between gyri and ***,this review will provide a comprehensive summary of anatomo-functional relationships in the cortical gyro-sulcal system together with a consideration of how these contribute to brain function,cognition,and behavior,as well as to mental disorders.

Engineered polycaprolactone–magnesium hybrid biodegradable porous scaffold for bone tissue engineering

In this paper, we describe the fabrication of a new biodegradable porous scaffold composed of polycaprolactone(PCL) and magnesium(mg)micro-particles. The compressive modulus of PCL porous scaffold was increased to at least 150% by incorporating 29% mg particles with the porosity of 74% using micro-CT analysis. Surprisingly, the compressive modulus of this scaffold was further increased to at least 236% when the silane-coupled mg particles were added. In terms of cell viability, the scaffold modified with mg particles significantly convinced the attachment and growth of osteoblasts as compared with the pure PCL scaffold. In addition, the hybrid scaffold was able to attract the formation of apatite layer over its surface after 7 days of immersion in normal culture medium, whereas it was not observed on the pure PCL scaffold. This in vitro result indicated the enhanced bioactivity of the modified scaffold. moreover, enhanced bone forming ability was also observed in the rat model after 3 months of implantation. Though bony in-growth was found in all the implanted scaffolds. High volume of new bone formation could be found in the mg/PCL hybrid scaffolds when compared to the pure PCL scaffold. Both pure PCL and mg/PCL hybrid scaffolds were degraded after 3 months. However, no tissue inflammation was observed. In conclusion, these promising results suggested that the incorporation of mg micro-particles into PCL porous scaffold could significantly enhance its mechanical and biological properties. This modified porous bio-scaffold may potentially apply in the surgical management of large bone defect fixation.

Cr(III)ehydrolyzed polyacrylamide(HPAm)gels have been extensively studied as a promising strategy controlling waste water production for mature ***,the gelation time of the current technologies is not long enough for in-depth *** this study,we report a novel synthesis method to obtain chromium chloride/poly(methyl methacrylate)(PmmA)nanocapsules which can significantly delay the gelation of HPAm through encapsulating the chromium chloride *** chromium chloride-loaded nanocapsules(CreNC)are prepared via a facile inverse miniemulsion evaporation method during which the hydrophobic PmmA polymers,pre-dispersed in an organic solvent,were carefully controlled to precipitate onto stable aqueous miniemulsion *** stable aqueous nanodroplets(W)containing Cr(III)are dispersed in a mixture of organic solvent(O1)with PmmA and nonsolvent medium(O2)to prepare an inverse *** the evaporation of the O1,PmmA forms CreNCs around the aqueous *** CreNCs are readily transferred into water from the organic nonsolvent *** CreNCs exhibit the tunable size(358-983 nm),Cr loading(7.1%-19.1%),and Cr entrapment efficiency(11.7%-80.2%),with tunable zeta potentials in different PVA *** CreNCs can delay release of Cr(III)and prolong the gelation time of HPAm up to 27 days.

Since 2009 initiatives that were selected for the roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures started working to build research infrastructures for a wide range of research *** important result of the strategic discussions was that distributed infrastructure scenarios were now seen as“complex research facilities”in addition to,for example traditional centralised infrastructures such as *** this paper we look at five typical examples of such distributed infrastructures where many researchers working in different centres are contributing data,tools/services and knowledge and where the major task of the research infrastructure initiative is to create a virtually integrated suite of resources allowing researchers to carry out state-of-the-art *** analysis shows that most of these research infrastructures worked on the Findability,Accessibility,Interoperability and Reusability dimensions before the term“FAIR”was actually *** definition of the FAIR principles and their wide acceptance can be seen as a confirmation of what these initiatives were doing and it gives new impulse to close still existing *** initiatives also seem to be ready to take up the next steps which will emerge from the definition of FAIR maturity *** from these infrastructures should bring in their 10-years’experience in this definition process.

From the dimensions of the metal, fluoride and water system ( W(1)-F(1) = 2.08(1), W(1)-0(1) - 2.084(9), F(2)-O(1) = 2.59(2) A and F(2)-W(1)-O(1) - 76.7(4)°) an in-terligand hydrogen bond was assumed. The ligand water molecule also makes an H-bonded contact with the fluoride counter ion.

In this richly and impressively researched, analyzed, and written volume, Parks Coble studies the work of war reporters during the resistance war against Japan （1937-45） but also the war reporters of the ＂new remembering＂ of the war from the mid-to-late 1980s to the present. This comprehensive coverage allows him to ask the key question： what place, what meaning does the war have in ＂the framework of modem Chinese history＂（p. 191）？ In the end, because of the controlling grip of politics during the wartime period, the era of mao and maoism, and the reformist period, he cogently concludes that ＂the understanding of the meaning of the war remains nebulous＂（p. 3）.

Objective:To identify an unusual encrusting calcareous organism found growing on upper intertidal rocks along the coast of the minas Basin,Nova Scotia,Canada,which was thought to potentially represent a new,perhaps invasive species to the ***:Observations were made of the organism growing in situ and of intact and dissected specimens under microscopes in the *** keys were used to determine probable identity of the organism as a tunicate,sponge,bryozoan,marine lichen,or coralline red *** keys were then further used to identify samples to ***:The organism was determined to be Phymatolithon lamii(***)*** 1991,an encrusting coralline red alga native to the study *** species normally occurs in the subtidal zone,so its occurrence in the high intertidal zone was unusual and resulted in the alga becoming bleached and taking on an unusual ***:The sample did not represent a new or invasive species to the study ***,occurrence of this species on the high intertidal zone was novel and may have resulted from unusual climatic and/or oceanographic conditions in the study area in 2015 that allowed this alga to settle and grow in the intertidal zone for a time before death and bleaching *** such as this resulting from climate change may negatively impact recruitment to populations of coastal marine species and should be investigated further.
