Innovative features of wind turbine blades with flatback at inboard region,thick airfoils at inboard as well as mid-span region and transversely stepped thickness in spar caps have been proposed by Institute of Engineering Thermophysics,Chinese Academy of Sciences(IET-Wind)in order to improve both aerodynamic and structural efficiency of rotor *** verify the proposed design concepts,this study first presented numerical analysis using finite element method to clarify the effect of flatback on local buckling strength of the inboard *** models with various loading cases,inboard configurations,and core materials were comparatively ***,a prototype blade incorporated with innovative features was manufactured and tested under static bending loads to investigate its structural response and *** was found that rotor blades with flatback exhibited favorable local buckling strength at the inboard region compared with those with conventional sharp trailing edge when low-density PVC foam was *** prototype blade showed linear behavior under extreme loads in spar caps,aft panels,shear web and flatback near the maximum chord which is usually susceptible to buckling in the blades according to traditional *** inboard region of the blade showed exceptional load-carrying capacity as it survived420%extreme loads in the *** this study,potential structural advantages by applying proposed structural features to large composite blades of multi-megawatt wind turbines were addressed.

Segregation of solute atoms in the center of thick plates of the tempered steel can cause an inhomogeneous structural transformation and generate micron-sized inclusions,which leads to lamellar tearing of thick plate and decreases the plasticity and *** formation and fragmentation mechanisms of micron-sized inclusions,like MnS and(Nb,Ti)C,in the center of thick plates were investigated by using thermodynamic calculations,finite element simulations,and electron backscatter diffraction characterization *** results show that micron-sized inclusions nucleate and grow in the liquid phase,and under tensile loading,they exhibit three fragmentation *** local stress during the fragmentation of inclusions is lower than the critical fracture stress of adjacent grains,and phase boundaries can effectively impede crack propagation into the *** existence of a low proportion of high-angle grain boundaries(58.1%)and high kernel average misorientation value(0.534°)in the segregation band promotes inclusions fragmentation and crack *** difference in crack initiation and propagation direction caused by the morphology of inclusions and physical properties,as well as different matrix arrest abilities,is the main reasons for the diversity of inclusion fragmentation.

AIM: To examine the interactions between cytotoxinassociated gene (CagA) positive Helicobacter pylori infection and smoking in non-cardiac gastric ***: A case-control study (257 cases and 514 frequency-matched controls) was conducted from September 2008 to July 2010 in Xi’an,*** were newly diagnosed,histologically confirmed non-cardiac *** were randomly selected from similar communities to the cases and were further matched by sex and age (± 5 years).A face-to-face interview was performed by the investigators for each *** were obtained using a standardized questionnaire that included questions regarding known or suspected lifestyle and environmental risk factors of gastric cancer.A 5 mL sample of fasting venous blood was *** infection was serologically detected by enzymelinked immunosorbent ***: Smoking and CagA infection were statistically significant risk factors of non-cardiac *** was categorized in tertiles,and the odds ratio (OR) was 12.4 (95% CI: 6.1-20.3,P = 0.003) for CagA after being adjusted for confounding factors when the highexposure category was compared with the low-exposure *** had an OR of 5.4 compared with subjects who never smoked (95% CI: 2.3-9.0,P = 0.002).The OR of non-cardiac cancer was 3.5 (95% CI: 1.8-5.3) for non-smokers with CagA infection,3.5 (95% CI: 1.9-5.1) for smokers without CagA infection,and 8.7 (95% CI: 5.1-11.9) for smokers with CagA infection compared with subjects without these risk *** adjusting for confounding factors,the corresponding ORs of non-cardiac cancer were 3.2 (95% CI: 1.5-6.8),2.7 (95% CI: 1.3-4.9) and 19.5 (95% CI: 10.3-42.2),*** was a multiplicative interaction between smoking and CagA,with a synergistic factor of 2.257 (Z = 2.315,P = 0.021).CONCLUSION: These findings support a meaningful interaction between CagA and smoking for the risk of gastric cancer which may have implications for its early detection.

The ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer （ITS） region is a useful genomic region for understanding evolutionary and genetic relationships. In the current study, the molecular phylogenetic analysis of Pectinidae （ Mollusca： Bivalvia） was performed using the nucleotide sequences of the nuclear ITS region in nine species of this family. The sequences were obtained from the scallop species Argopecten irradians, Mizuhopecten yessoensis, Amusium pleuronectes and Mimachlamys nobilis, and compared with the published sequences of Aequipecten opercularis, Chlamys farreri, C. distorta, M. varia, Pecten maximus, and an outgroup species Perna viridis. The molecular phylogenetic tree was constructed by the neighbor-joining and maximum parsimony methods. Phylogenetic analysis based on ITS1, ITS2, or their combination always yielded trees of similar topology. The results support the morphological classifications of bivalve and are nearly consistent with classification of two subfamilies （Chlamydinae and Pectininae） formulated by Waller. However, A. irradians, together with A. opercularis made up of genera Amusium, evidences that they may belong to the subfamily Pectinidae. The data are incompatible with the conclusion of Waller who placed them in Chlamydinae by morphological characteristics. These results provide new insights into the evolutionary relationships among scallop species and contribute to the improvement of existing classification systems.

The Global Influenza Surveillance Network is crucial for monitoring epidemic risk in participating countries. However, at present, the network has notable gaps in the developing world, principally in Africa and Asia where laboratory capabilities are limited. Moreover, for the last few years, various influenza viruses have been continuously emerging in the resource-limited countries, making these surveillance gaps a more imminent *** present a spatial-transmission model to estimate epidemic risks in the countries where only partial or even no surveillance data are available. Motivated by the observation that countries in the same influenza transmission zone divided by the World Health Organization had similar transmission patterns, we propose to estimate the influenza epidemic risk of an unmonitored country by incorporating the surveillance data reported by countries of the same transmission zone. Experiments show that the risk estimates are highly correlated with the actual influenza morbidity trends for African and Asian countries. The proposed method may provide the much-needed capability to detect, assess, and notify potential influenza epidemics to the developing world.

The Ordovician-Silurian Wufeng and Longmaxi Shale in the Sichuan Basin were studied to understand the genesis and diagenetic evolution of carbonate minerals and their effects on reservoir quality. The results of geochemical and petrological analyses show that calcite grains have a negative Ce anomaly indicating they formed in the oxidizing environment of seawater. The high carbonate mineral contents in the margin of basin indicate that calcite grains and cores of dolomite grains appear largely to be of detrital origin. The rhombic rims of dolomite grains and dolomite concretions with the δ^(13)C of –15.46‰ and the enrichment of middle rare earth elements were formed during the sulfate-driven anaerobic oxidation of methane. The calcite in radiolarian were related to the microbial sulfate reduction for the abundant anhedral pyrites and δ^(13)C value of –11.34‰. Calcite veins precipitated in the deep burial stage with homogenization temperature of the inclusions ranging from 146.70 ℃ to 182.90 ℃. The pores in shale are mainly organic matter pores with pore size mainly in the range of 1–20 nm in diameter. Carbonate minerals influence the development of pores through offering storage space for organic matter. When calcite contents ranging from 10% to 20%, calcite grains and cement as rigid framework can preserve primary pores. Subsequently, the thermal cracking of liquid petroleum in primary pores will form organic matter pores. The radiolarian were mostly partially filled with calcite, which combining with microcrystalline quartz preserved a high storage capacity.

Rechargeable magnesium batteries(RMBs),as one of the most promising candidates for efficient energy storage devices with high energy,power density and high safety,have attracted increasing ***,searching for suitable cathode materials with fast diffusion kinetics and exploring their magnesium storage mechanisms remains a great *** S submicron spheres,made by a facile low-temperature synthesis strategy,were applied as the high-performance cathode for RMBs in this work,which can deliver a high specific capacity of 396mAh g^(-1)at 20 mA g^(-1) and a remarkable rate capacity of 250 m Ah g^(-1)at 1000 mA g^(-1).The excellent rate performance can be assigned to the nano needle-like particles on the surface of Cu S submicron spheres,which can facilitate the diffusion kinetics of Mg^(2+).Further storage mechanism investigations illustrate that the Cu S cathodes experience a two-step conversion reaction controlled by diffusion during the electrochemical reaction *** work could make a contribution to the study of the enhancement of diffusion kinetics of Mg2+and the reaction mechanism of RMBs.
