Semisupervised Deep State-Space Model for Plant Growth Modeling

The optimal control of sugar content and its associated technology is important for producing high-quality crops more stably and ***-based reinforcement learning(RL)indicates a desirable action depending on the type of situation based on trialand-error calculations conducted by an environmental *** this paper,we address plant growth modeling as an environmental model for the optimal control of sugar *** the growth process,fruiting plants generate sugar depending on their state and evolve via various external stimuli;however,sugar content data are sparse because appropriate remote sensing technology is yet to be developed,and thus,sugar content is measured *** propose a semisupervised deep state-space model(SDSSM)where semisupervised learning is introduced into a sequential deep generative *** achieves a high generalization performance by optimizing the parameters while inferring unobserved data and using training data efficiently,even if some categories of training data are *** designed an appropriate model combined with model-based RL for the optimal control of sugar content using SDSSM for plant growth *** evaluated the performance of SDSSM using tomato greenhouse cultivation data and applied cross-validation to the comparative evaluation *** SDSSM was trained using approximately 500 sugar content data of appropriately inferred plant states and reduced the mean absolute error by approximately 38%compared with other supervised learning *** results demonstrate that SDSSM has good potential to estimate time-series sugar content variation and validate uncertainty for the optimal control of high-quality fruit cultivation using model-based RL.

Standardization of New Sliver Probe for Cooling Power Test of Polymer Quenchant

Technical committee for Japanese industrial standard of heat treating oils has studied on the new method for testing cooling power of aqueous quenchants. This method employed the cooling curve test of a new sliver rod probe, which has a metal-sheathed thermocouple at its geometrical center. The experimental study has clarified that this probe has the higher sensitivity and excellent durability. In order to standardize this probe for cooling power test of aqueous quenchants, the repeatability and reproducibility of test results etc. have been studied. D.O.P. (Di-2-ethylthexyl Phthalate) was used as reference quenching fluid for initial calibration and for periodic calibration verification of the probe and system. In addition, 10% brine was used to check the response capability of the probe and system to the sudden change of temperature. These procedures are established according to the experimental investigation. This new test method is going to be built in the revised version of JIS K 2242 "Heat treating oils" as the cooling power test method for aqueous quenchants.

Numerical and Experimental Investigation on Heat PropagationThrough Composite Sinter Bed With Non-Uniform Voidage:Part Ⅱ Prediction of Process Efficiency

The results of numerical simulation of the mosaic embedding iron ore sintering （MEBIOS） process according to the model presented in the first part of the study are introduced. The main objective of the second part is the elucidation of key factors influencing the process efficiency, particularly the sintering completeness, velocity of the heat wave propagation and maximum temperature achievable in the pellet during the wave propagation. Numerical results reveal that the mass fraction of coal, diameter of coal particles and air inlet velocity are of prime importance in determining efficiency of the MEBIOS sintering process.

Activation of Trifluoromethylthio Moiety by Appending Iodonium Ylide under Copper Catalysis for Electrophilic Trifluoromethylation Reaction

A novel iodonium-ylide compound 2 that appends a trifluoromethylthio （SCF3） group is disclosed as a new, shelf-stable electrophilic trifluoromethylation reagent. Unlike known shelf-stable electrophilic trifluoromethylation reagents, 2 has a stable SCF3 group which is activated by appending iodonium ylide under copper catalysis via sul- fonium ylide to generate a cationic trifluoromethyl （CF3） species. Reagent 2 was found to be an efficient electro- philic trifluoromethylation reagent for a wide range of silyl enol ethers 3 under copper catalysis. Cyclic and acyclic a-trifiuoromethyl ketones 4 were obtained by reagent 2 in moderate to good yields. On the other hand, a difluoro- methylthio analogue 5 did not affect intermolecular transfer difluoromethylation to substrates. Instead, intramolecu- lar 1,4-migration proceeded similar to the Stevens rearrangement to provide 6 in 21% yield, independent of the presence of nucleophiles 3.

Effect of transition metaldoping under reducing calcination atmosphere on photocatalytic property of TiO_2 immobilized on SiO_2 beads

TiO2 immobilized on SiO2 （TiO2 /SiO2 ） have been prepared by sol-gel method and various ions of transition metals （Cr3＋ , Co2＋ , Ni2＋ , Cu2＋ , and Zn2＋）weredoped on the photocatalyst usingwet impregnation method under reducing calcination atmosphere. The photocatalytic activity of metaldoped TiO2 /SiO2 towards phenoldegradation under black light irradiationwere investigated and comparedwith undoped TiO2 /SiO2 . The results showed that the photoresponse of Cu2＋ and Zn2＋doped TiO2 /SiO2were larger than undoped TiO2 /SiO2 , indicating that the photogenerated carrierswere separated more efficiently in Cu2＋ and Zn2＋doped TiO2 /SiO2 . The reactivitywas in the order of Cu2＋〉 Zn2＋〉 Ni2＋〉 Cr3＋〉 Co2＋ . Thedifferent photoreactivitywas ascribed to combine effect of thedifferent ionic radii and photocorrison tendency of thedopants. The samplewas also characterized by surface analytical methods such as X-raydiffraction, scanning electron micrograph/electrondispersive X-ray analyzer and UV-Vis absorption spectrum.

Nanometer-Order Contouring Control in a Feed Drive System Using Linear Ball Guides by Applying a Combination of Modified Disturbance Observer and Repetitive Control

This paper proposes a quadrant glitch compensation method to achieve nanometer-level accuracy of contouring control for a feed drive system using linear ball *** proposed method is a combination of a modified disturbance observer(“disturbance suppressor”)and an improved repetitive control *** motion tests with 1 mm amplitude and 0.1 Hz driving frequency were conducted using a single-axis feed drive system to verify the quadrant glitch compensation ability of this ***,the repeatability of the quadrant glitches in the experimental system was verified,which is the most important characteristic required for compensation via repetitive ***,by applying the combination of disturbance suppressor and conventional repetitive control,the amplitudes of the quadrant glitches were decreased to less than 1 nm;in other words,the ratio of the magnitude of the quadrant glitch to the amplitude of the position reference was less than 1/1,000,***,for both compensation schemes mentioned before,vibrations were generated when the feed speed ***,the amplitudes increased with the number of *** reason for the vibrations was identified as the repetitive control *** suppress these vibrations,the repetitive control was applied only to narrowed regimes near the quadrant ***,the maximum contouring error was decreased to 2 *** addition,the nonlinear spring behavior of the linear ball guides was confirmed to affect the stability of the control systems.

Single-phase bcc-ferrite in an interstitial free(IF)steel was deformed to different strains in a wide range from low to high strains(ε=1–7)by torsion under different Zener-Hollomon(Z)*** specimens were rapidly quenched after the torsion to preserve microstructures formed under different deformation *** results showed that during high-Z(low-temperature)deformation,grains were subdivided by geometrically necessary boundaries(GNBs)via the grain subdivision *** to high strains(ε>5)led to the ultrafine lamellar structures(with grain sizes1μm)were realized with decreasing *** significance of the grain subdivision and the thermally activated phenomena on the formation of various microstructures under different deformation conditions is discussed.

Increased gut permeability facilitates the uptake of food allergens into the bloodstream and triggers allergenic *** present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Lactobacillus pentosus S-PT84(S-PT84)and Rubus suavissimus leaf extract(RSLE)against egg ovomucoid(OVM)-uptake in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced increased gut-permeability mice model of food ***-eight weeks old,female C57BL6 mice were continuously fed with LPS(300μg/kg BW),for 3 months to increase gut *** in the expression of sealing claudin-4,increase in the expression of pore-forming claudin-2,and increase in D-mannitol absorption into the blood plasma in the LPS treated groups suggested the increase in gut permeability after LPS *** oral administration of major egg allergen,OVM,after LPS intervention,significantly increased the plasma mast cell protease-1 and OVMspecific IgE compared to the negative control *** results indicated that continuous LPS intervention developed OVM-induced food ***,both the treatment of S-PT84 and RSLE suppressed the claudin-2 expression and the gut permeability induced by ***,S-PT84 and RSLE treatment also reduced the plasma mast cell protease-1 and OVM-specific IgE,indicating the potential beneficial effect against LPS intervention developed OVM-induced food *** findings suggest that S-PT84 and RSLE ameliorated LPS induced gut permeability and food allergic reactions.

Pneumococcal infection transmission between family members with congenital asplenia: A case report

BACKGROUND Asplenia,the lack of a spleen,can be congenital and increases susceptibility to severe infections caused by encapsulated bacteria,such as Streptococcus pneumoniae(***).We report two cases of severe pneumococcal infection in two asplenic family members living in the same *** SUMMARY Patient 1,a 38-year-old man with a history of congenital hepatitis B infection and hypospadias,was brought to our emergency department with complaints of cyanosis,cough,and edema of his *** was clinically diagnosed as hyposplenic with overwhelming pneumococcal *** was admitted to the intensive care unit and was administered antibiotics and catecholaminergic therapy but died 2 h after *** 2,a 63-year-old woman with a history of type 2 diabetes,was brought to our emergency department one month after admission of Patient *** was diagnosed as asplenic with overwhelming pneumococcal ***-taking revealed that she was the mother of Patient 1 and the two had lived in the same *** was admitted to the intensive care unit and was rapidly provided antibiotics and catecholaminergic intervention but died one day after *** Pneumococcal bacteremia caused by virulent *** may be transmitted within *** residents of households where individuals with pneumococcal bacteremia are living should be educated about the risk of *** members of patients with congenital asplenia/hyposplenia,all family members should be examined to assess their splenic function.

Data-driven derivation of partial differential equations using neural network model

It has become critical to develop explanatory models using partial differential equations(PDEs)for big data from interesting scientific phenomena,e.g.,fluids,atmosphere,and cosmic *** data are often measured at discrete spatiotemporal *** this paper,we assume a PDE and consider a set of the PDE solution data at multiple discrete points as pseudo-measurement *** a data-driven PDE derivation,it is assumed that the PDE is a linear regression model comprising partial temporal and spatial differential terms,where the coefficients are estimated using regression analysis techniques,and the PDE derivation accuracy is defined as the difference(i.e.,error)between the exact and estimated coefficients.A spatiotemporal model is required to calculate the partial temporal and spatial differential terms;thus,we employ a spatiotemporal model based on a neural network(NN)obtained from big *** develop the data-driven PDE derivation technique,we employ PDEs with exact solutions such that we can calculate the differential terms by differentiating them analytically at multiple discrete *** we assume an activation function in the NN model,the partial differential term can be derived using a chain *** NN model accuracy is measured by the loss function and error between the exact and estimated partial differential *** addition,we clarify a requirement for an NN structure that can maximize the PDE derivation and NN model accuracy by varying the NN meta-parameters,i.e.,the numbers of NN layers and neurons.
