A prospective randomized trial of lafutidine vs rabeprazole on post-ESD gastric ulcers

AIM:To compare the effects of rabeprazole and lafutidine on post-endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) gastric ***:Patients with gastric tumors indicated for ESD were prospectively *** ESD,all patients were treated with intravenous omeprazole for the first 3 *** were then randomly assigned to oral lafutidine or *** size,ulcer size reduction rate,and ulcer stage were evaluated 4 wk *** of complication was monitored throughout the 4-wk ***:Sixty five patients were enrolled in the study,and 60 patients were subjected to the final *** the lafutidine group(30 lesions in 29 patients),initial and 4-wk post-ESD ulcer sizes were 33.3 ± 9.2 and 10.5 ± 4.8 mm,*** the rabeprazole group(34 lesions in 31 patients),the values were 34.7 ± 11.3 and 11.8 ± 6.7 mm,*** size reduction rates in lafutidine and rabeprazole groups were 32.3% and 33.5%,respectively(P=0.974).Ulcer stage 4 wk post-ESD did not differ significantly between the two groups(P=0.868).Two cases in the rabeprazole group and no cases in the lafutidine group developed ulcer bleeding during the oral dose period,although the difference of bleeding rate between the two groups was not statistically significant(P=0.157).CONCLUSION:Lafutidine and rabeprazole have equivalent therapeutic effects on post-ESD gastric ulcers.

In this Editorial review,we would like to focus on a very recent discovery showing the global autosomal gene regulation by Y-and inactivated X-chromosomal transcription factors,zinc finger gene on the Y chromosome(ZFY)and zinc finger protein X-linked(ZFX).ZFX and ZFY are both zinc-finger proteins that encode general transcription factors abundant in hematopoietic and embryonic stem *** both proteins are homologs,interestingly,the regulation of self-renewal by these transcriptional factors is almost exclusive to *** fact implies that there are some differential roles between ZFX and ZFY in regulating the maintenance of self-renewal activity in stem *** the maintenance of stemness,ZFX overexpression or mutations may be linked to certain *** cancers and stem cells are double-edged swords,there is no study showing the link between ZFX activity and the ***,stemness or cancers with ZFX may be linked to other molecules,such as Oct4,Sox2,Klf4,and *** on very recent studies and a few lines of evidence in the past decade,it appears that the ZFX is linked to the canonical Wnt signaling,which is one possible mechanism to explain the role of ZFX in the self-renewal of stem cells.

Impact of next-nearest leading vehicles on followers’ driving behaviours and traffic stability in mixed traffic

There has been an increase in the number of on-road vehicles of all types,especially in some developing *** rise of traffic heterogeneity causes larger mixed traffic conge *** study examines the impact of next-nearest leading vehicles on the driving of following drivers in mixed *** previous studies reported that traffic stability can be improved with the introduction of followers’anticipatory driving that refers to multiple leaders,the effect of anticipatory driving on mixed traffic has not yet been *** data collected from experiments conducted with groups of two and three vehicles,we found that operational delay,maximum acceleration and deceleration of the followers were affected by the presence of next-nearest *** addition,we developed regression models of the affected followers’behaviours with respect to the next-nearest leaders and identified the factors affecting these *** example,the followers’deceleration is directly affected by the height of the next-nearest leading ***,the model parameters for determining the deceleration of following vehicles should take the height of the next-nearest leading vehicle into ***,based on the regression models,we estimated values of parameters in the intelligent driver model when the type of the next-nearest leader was *** analysis based on these estimated parameters implied that a tall or short next-nearest leader with a large engine power would stabilise traffic when anticipatory driving of followers is possible.

Evolution of Dentary Diastema in Iguanodontian Dinosaurs

The dentary diastema of iguanodontians has been considered to be related to its unique jaw mechanism for herbivorous adaptation. The dentary and diastema lengths of iguanodontians were measured and compared to elucidate the evolution of iguanodontian diastema. A gap in ratios between most non-hadrosaurid iguanodontians and hadrosaurids was observed, suggesting that all non- hadrosaurid iguanodontians, expect for Ouranosaurus nigeriensis and Protohadros byrdi, lack a diastema or have a short diastema, although some other taxa have been considered to have a long diastema in previous studies. In non-hadrosaurid iguanodontians, some large-sized forms, such as Iguanodon bernissartensis, Shuangmiaosaurus gilmorei, and possibly Eolambia caroljonesa, had a short diastema through ontogeny, whereas Ouranosaurus nigeriensis and Protohadros byrdi developed a long diastema convergently. The development of a long diastema of hadrosaurine hadrosaurids may be different from that of lambeosaurine hadrosaurids. Some hadrosaurines （Edmontosaurus annectens, Edmontosaurus regalis, and Saurolophus angustirostris） may have developed a long diastema in the subadult stage and showed little elongation of dentary diastema through ontogeny. Lambeosaurines （Corythosaurus casuarius and Lambeosaurus lambei） tend to have a short diastema in the embryonic and subadult stages, and an elongated diastema from the subadult to adult stages.

We demonstrate a bottom-up approach to fabricating a visible light-driven titania photocatalyst device bearing an embeddedtwo-dimensional (2D) array of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as a near-field light-generating layer. The device is a layered structureprepared by depositing a 2D array of AuNPs on a transparent conductive substrate (10 nm indium tin oxide (ITO) layer on quartz),coating the 2D array of AuNPs with a monolayer of trimethoxyoctylsilane (TMOS), and depositing titania nanocrystals on the anchoringmolecule (TMOS) layer. The visible light activity of the device was tested using photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) byilluminating the device with visible light (700 nm light) and ultraviolet (UV) light (250–380 nm). The localized surface plasmonresonance peak of the 36 nm AuNP 2D array is around 700 nm with a full-width at half-maximum of 350 nm. In comparison with othercontrol samples, the device showed the highest photocatalytic activity with visible irradiation, which was 1.7 times higher than that oftitania with UV irradiation. The origin of the visible light activity was confirmed by both quadratic incident light power dependency andaction spectrum to be plasmon-induced (near-field enhancement by AuNPs) two-photon absorption.

Advanced integration of logistics systems has been promoted for competitiveness and *** of transport operations increases complexity at a network level,which reduces the predictability of the response of the system to ***,our understanding of the behavior of such systems is still *** particular,the topology of the network,which changes as the systems are integrated,is an important factor that affects the performance of the entire *** of such mechanisms would be useful in the design and evaluation of integrated ***,we developed a simple simulation framework for logistics networks that extracts the essence of the *** performed extensive numerical experiments for three scenarios that mimic changes in demand:(i)locally and temporally increased traffic demand,(ii)globally and temporally increased traffic demand,and(iii)permanent change in demand pattern,under various conditions on the type of route-finding algorithm,network structure,and transportation *** route-finding algorithms were more effective in square lattice and random networks,which contained many bypass routes,than in hub-andspoke ***,the square lattice and random networks were robust to the change in the *** suggest that such preferable properties are only present in networks with redundancy and that the bypass structure is an important criterion for designing network *** also performed a realistic case study that mimics interregional truck transport in Japan and confirmed that our conclusions are applicable to a practical problem.

A novel synthesis method for hexagonal （]3）ophase NaYF4：Er nano-crystals （NCs） which showed up-conversion （UC） from infrared to visible spectral region was developed. The NaYF4：Er NCs were synthesized in oleie acid （OA） and 1-0ctadeeene （ODE） with Y2（COa）3＇xH20, Er2（COa）3xH20, Na2CO3 and NH4F as precursors. This proposed method was simple and less toxic compared with generally used method so far. The XRD results showed that the molar ratio of OA/ODE and the temperature were key factors for phase control ofNaYF4：Er NCs. The UC emission spectra were obtained with the emission wavelength at about 980 nm （4111/2--4115/2）, 800 nm （41912--415/2）, 660 nm （4F912--4115/2） and 540 nm （453/2----4115/2） from Er3＋ ions, by excitation wavelength of 1550 nm. The slope values, n, in the pump-power dependence, showed that the emission at 980 and 800 um were generated by 2-step UC and at 660 nm and 540 um were 3-step UC. The optical process for the UC excitation was discussed.

A brief review of research in agricultural vehicle guidance technologies is *** authors propose the conceptual framework of an agricultural vehicle autonomous guidance system,and then analyze its device *** paper introduces navigation sensors,computational methods,navigation planners and steering *** include global positioning systems(GPS),machine vision,dead-reckoning sensors,laser-based sensors,inertial sensors and geomagnetic direction *** methods for sensor information are used to extract features and fuse *** generate movement information to supply control *** transform guidance information into changes in position and direction.A number of prototype guidance systems have been developed but have not yet proceeded to *** and machine vision fused together or one fused with another auxiliary technology is becoming the trend development for agricultural vehicle guidance *** of new popular robotic technologies will augment the realization of agricultural vehicle automation in the future.

This work presents a simulation model for unsignalized crosswalks which takes into account collisions between vehicles and pedestrians,thus allowing to assess the estimated yearly pedestrian *** particular,we focus on a method to calibrate such a model combining measurable crosswalk characteristics,such as maximum speed limit or drivers’compliance,with statistical data for past accidents obtained from local *** order to perform simulations under realistic conditions,we constructed a one-week scenario where pedestrian and vehicle traffic vary using specific patterns each hour of the *** constructed traffic profile is based on openly available data and the suitability for the scenario considered(a crosswalk in Milan,Italy)is investigated showing that cultural/lifestyle elements determine the variation of weekly *** using the constructed one-week scenario were used to obtain the only non-measurable parameter which account for pedestrians’and drivers’*** addition,we also focused on the presence of elderly pedestrians which have different physiological characteristics compared to adults or children and are becoming an important part of the population in several countries around the *** simulation model presented here and the method suggested for calibration may be employed in different contexts,thus allowing to build an important tool to be used not only for transportation efficiency/optimization but also for safety analysis.
