Most thin-film photovoltaic modules are constructed on soda-lime glass(SlG)substrates containing alkali oxides,such as Na_(2)*** may diffuse from SlG into a module's active layers through P1 lines,an area between a module's constituent cells where the substrate-side charge transport layer(CTl)is in direct contact with *** diffusion from SlG is known to cause several important effects inⅡ-Ⅵand chalcogenide solar modules,but it has not been studied in perovskite solar modules(PSMs).In this work,we use complementary microscopy and spectroscopy techniques to show that Na diffusion occurs in the fabrication process of *** diffuses vertically inside P1 lines and then laterally from P1 lines into the active area for up to 360 *** propose that this process is driven by the high temperatures the devices are exposed to during CTl and perovskite *** diffused Na preferentially binds with Br,forming Br-poor,l-rich perovskite and a species rich in Na and Br(Na-Br)close to P1 ***-Br passivates defect sites,reducing non-radiative recombination in the perovskite and boosting its luminescence by up to 5×.Na-Br is observed to be stable after 12 weeks of device storage,suggesting long-lasting effects of Na *** results not only point to a potential avenue to increase PSM performance but also highlight the possibility of unabated Na diffusion throughout a module's lifetime,especially if accelerated by the electric field and elevated temperatures achievable during device operation.

Effects of improved amino acid balance diet on lysine mammary utilization, whole body protein turnover and muscle protein breakdown on lactating sows

Background The study objective was to test the hypothesis that low crude protein(CP) diet with crystalline amino acids(CAA) supplementation improves lys utilization efficiency for milk production and reduces protein turnover and muscle protein breakdown. Eighteen lactating multiparous Yorkshire sows were allotted to 1 of 2 isocaloric diets(10.80 MJ/kg net energy): control(CON; 19.24% CP) and reduced CP with “optimal” AA profile(OPT; 14.00% CP). Sow body weight and backfat were recorded on d 1 and 21 of lactation and piglets were weighed on d 1, 14, 18, and 21 of lactation. Between d 14 and 18, a subset of 9 sows(CON = 4, OPT = 5) was infused with a mixed solution of 3-[methyl-2H3]histidine(bolus injection) and [13C]bicarbonate(priming dose) first, then a constant 2-h [13C]bicarbonate infusion followed by a 6-h primed constant [1-13C]lysine infusion. Serial blood and milk sampling were performed to determine plasma and milk lys enrichment, lys oxidation rate, whole body protein turnover, and muscle protein *** Over the 21-d lactation period, compared to CON, sows fed OPT had greater litter growth rate(P lys(P lys mammary flux(P le-body protein turnover efficiency(P lower whole body protein breakdown rate(P = 0.069). Muscle protein breakdown rate did not differ between OPT and CON(P = 0.197).Conclusion Feeding an improved AA balance diet increased efficiency of lys and reduced whole-body protein turnover and protein breakdown. These results imply that the lower maternal N retention observed in lactating sows fed improved AA balance diets in previous studies may be a result of greater partitioning of AA towards milk rather than greater body protein breakdown.

Does the scent of a potential mate prevent the resorption of oocytes by apoptosis in Nauphoeta cinerea？

We expect organisms to have evolved mechanisms to gather and use the information available within their environments, to steer resource investment decisions toward the traits that will give the greatest fitness returns. Pheromones are social signals, a common purpose of which is to act as indicators of mate presence. Consequently, pheromones have the potential to act as signals to increase or maintain reproductive investment over that of competing life-history traits. In the cockroach, Nauphoeta cinerea （Oliver）, females pay costs of maintaining investment in reproduction when there are no males, and males produce pheromones that are known to effect female reproductive outcomes. Whether the pheromones have an influence on resource physiology is unknown. We subjected newly eclosed females to either a synthetic blend of male pheromones or control. We dissected females at 7, 12, 17 or 22 days. We measured apoptosis levels and size of all oocytes within the vitellerium, and measured dry fat body mass. Synthetic male pheromone blend did not have an effect on any measure of female reproductive or somatic resource physiology. Although negative results are always problematic, the success of the synthetic pheromone method in the past suggests that females may be insensitive to male pheromones in the pre-oviposition period, and may rely on mating stimulus rather than pheromone as the cue for oocyte maintenance and growth. Previous studies reporting effects of male pheromones on female reproduction suggest that the period of pheromone sensitivity may be between mating and birth.

Evaluation of effects of 1,3-dinitrobenzene on sperm motility of hamster using computer assisted semen analysis (CASA)

Aim: To evaluate the effects of 1,3-dinitrobenznene (mDNB) on sperm motility of hamster and to correlate the re-sults with the fertility. Methods: Adult male hamsters were gavaged with one of the 3 dose regimes of mDNB(1.5 mg daily for 4 weeks ,1.5 mg one day a week for 4 weeks and 1.0 mg 3 days a week for 4 weeks). Computerassisted semen analysis (CASA) was used to analyse the sperm motility parameters, curvilinear velocity (VCl) andstraight line velocity (VSl) of sperm in distal corpus epididymides and distal cauda epididymides. In vitro fertilisationwas carried out only for 1.5 mg mDNB daily group to determine the sperm fertilising capacity. Results: There wasa significant reduction in sperm velocity parameters at weeks 3 and 4 after treatment, which was correlated with a de-cline in sperm fertility. Conclusion; Sperm velocity parameters may be used to determine the effect of a toxic insulton the sperm function.
