Two decades of fire activity over the PEEX domain:a look from space,with contribution from models and ground-based measurements

It has been suggested that forest fires will become more frequent/intense with changing climate,which would increase aerosol/gas emissions into the atmosphere.A better under-standing of the relations between meteorological conditions,fires,and fire emissions will help estimate the climate response via forest *** this study,we use erA5 meteor-ological products,including temperature,precipitation,and soil moisture,to explain the frequency of forest fires and the amount of radiant energy released per time unit by burning vegetation(fire radiative power,FRP).We explore the relation-ships between satellite-retrieved fire products and aerosol properties(aerosol optical depth,AOD),carbon monoxide(CO),formaldehyde(hchO),and nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))con-centrations over the PEEX domain,which covers different vegetation zones(***/grasslands,forest,arctic tun-dra)of Pan-Eurasia and *** analyse the concentrations of black carbon and absorbing organic carbon using groundbased Aerosol RObotic *** analysis covers the months of may to August from 2002 to *** show posi-tive temperature trends in the Northern zone(>65°N)in June and August(1.56°C and 0.64°C,respectively);all statistically significant trends for precipitation and soil moisture are *** can explain increased fire activity in Siberia over the recent years(2019-2022).Over the whole PEEX domain,FC and FRP trends remain insignificant or negative;a decrease in AOD may address those negative *** show that intrasummer variations exist for cropland/grassland fires,which occur most often in may and August,while Siberian forest fires occur more often in July and *** show that CO concentration has been gradually decreasing in the last two decades in may and *** trends are negative in may,June,and over summer for all regions,in July in Europe,china,the Southern zone(he PEEX *** trends are not significant in all ***_(2)trends are positive in may and

Cumulative Air Quality Impacts from Twenty-Two major Power Plants

Cumulative assessment is a tool for the project developer to try and take into consideration not only their contribution to cumulative impacts but also other projects and external factors that may place their developments at *** study assessed the cumulative impacts of air emissions from 22 major power plants in southeast Bangladesh planned to generate 21,550 mW of *** also includes anticipated growth in small to medium size industries,brickfields,highway traffic,inland water transport,transhippers,jetty,and vessel transports used for transporting fuel resources for these power plants.A 50 km by 50 km airshed is considered for air quality *** analysis indicates that predicted mGLCs(maximum Ground Level Concentrations)of NO2 and CO are complying with both Bangladesh NAAQS(National Ambient Air Quality Standards)and WBG(World Bank Group)*** daily average mGLC of Pm_(2.5)(62.45µg/m^(3))from all sources complies with NAAQS,however,exceeds the WBG *** Pm_(2.5) concentration(15.45µg/m^(3))exceeds NAAQS and WBG *** Pm10 concentration complies with the NAAQS for both 24-hour and annual averaging *** average concentration(23.12µg/m^(3))exceeds WBG *** average SO2 concentration(102.49µg/m^(3))complies with the NAAQS however,it exceeds the WBG guideline *** concentrations of Pm_(2.5) and SO2 are due to the contribution of transboundary emissions and secondary pollutants in the *** dispersion modeling outcome can be used by the policymakers for the pollution reduction strategy.

Effect of cold-working on corrosion induced damage in lug joints

Lug joints are preferred joineries for transferring heavy loads to parent components in aerospace *** experience corrosion due to environmental conditions,improper surface finishes and rubbing displacement between the pin and *** causes damage of different sizes and shapes near the *** degradation due to corrosion-induced damage is modelled as a through-pit at one of the identified critical locations through stress *** effect of this pit on fatigue crack initiation life is ***-hole is pre-stressed by cold-working and the benefits of inducing plastic wake on the intended performance of the lug joint during the damages due to corrosion are brought out and compared with non-cold-worked *** analysis is performed on this lug joint with *** results obtained highlight the benefits of cold-working and the methodology can be extended to damage growth and analyse the effect of surface treatments for better structural integrity of components of aerospace vehicles.

Reproductive cycle of the oyster Crassostrea(magallana)saidii(Wong and Sigwart,2021)from Southeast Asia

Crassostrea(magallana)saidii has been commercially ranched in malaysia and consumed for more than 160 years,but it was only recently identified as a new species to *** study was conducted to evaluate the reproductive phenology of C.(m.)*** of 30 individual oysters were taken monthly for 15 months from the sole population at Sungai muar estuary in Johor,*** sex ratio was 1:1.64(male:female)for all examined specimens,with female numbers significantly *** was detected in 1.56%of all *** peaks in April(2019)and November(2018 and 2019),and were positively associated with the increased rainfall *** occurred throughout the research period with temporal *** highest values of maturity index(mI)were recorded in march,August and October 2019,when most oysters were in matured and maturing *** index(ci)ranged from 31.90±1.25(April 2019)to 70.03±3.23(October 2019),exhibiting two peaks(march and October 2019)and subsequently reduced in ci indicating spawning consistency with histological *** stressors such as heavy sedimentation and inland development are threatening the survival of this *** understanding of their reproductive biology is essential to ensure the survival and sustainability of C.(m.)saidii fishery.

This paper theoretically studies the impurity states and the effects of impurity concentration and configuration on the optical,electrical,and statistical properties of CdSe nanoplatelets(NPLs).An image charge-based model of electron-impurity interaction is *** charge-carrier energy spectra and corresponding wave functions depending on the impurity number and configuration are *** electron binding energies are calculated for different NPL *** is shown that the image charge-based interaction potential that arises due to the dielectric constants mismatch is much stronger than the interaction potential that does not take such a mismatch into ***,it is demonstrated that the binding energies are increasing with the number of *** calculate the canonical partition function using the energy levels of the electron,which in turn is used to obtain the mean energy,heat capacity,and entropy of the non-interacting electron *** thermodynamic properties of the non-interacting electron gas that depend on the geometric parameters of the NPL,impurity number,configuration,and temperature are studied.

The prevalence of obesity has increased and is a health concern *** to the concerns regarding synthetic anti-obesity treatments,nowadays natural products become a *** studies proved that there is a potential to use marine algae as anti-obesity ***,in this study,the lipid inhibitory effect of crude polysaccharide of amyloglucosidase-assisted hydrolysate from Sargassum thunbergii(STAC)and its fucoidan fractions(STAFs)on 3T3-L1 cells and high-fat diet(hFD)-induced obese mice were *** to the results,the STAF3,showed the highest xylose content and exhibited significant inhibitory effects on lipid accumulation by downregulating adipogenic and lipogenic proteins in 3T3-L1 ***,oral supplementation with STAC significantly declined gain in body weight and fat weight,and serum lipid contents in an hFD-induced obesity mouse *** and chemical characterizations demonstrated that puritied STAF3 has consistent surface morphology and small particle size,with similar structural characteristics as commercial ***,these results indicate that STAC and purified STAF3 from Sargassum thunbergia is a potent source to develop as ananti-obesity agents or functional food products to counter obesity.

Thyroid hormones play essential roles in spermatogenesis,but their effects on infertile males remain poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the impact of combining carbimazole(CBZ)with vitamin E(VE)on testicular injury induced by experimental hyperthyroidism in adult albino rats,focusing on oxidative,inflammatory,and apoptotic *** this experimental study,64 adult male albino Wistar rats were divided into eight groups:Group I(control-untreated),Group II(CBZ-control),Group III(VE-control),Group IV(CBZ+VE-control),Group V(levothyroxine-induced testicular injury),Group VI(levothyroxine+CBZ-treated),Group VII(levothyroxine+VE-treated),and Group VIII(levothyroxine+CBZ+VE-treated).The study was conducted in the Faculty of medicine,Suez Canal University(Ismailia,Egypt).After cervical decapitation,both testes and epididymis were examined histopathologically and *** differences were observed among groups concerning malondialdehyde(mDA),glutathione(GSh),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and catalase(CAT;all Pmerase chain reaction analysis showed significant differences in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-10(IL-10),Bcl-2-associated X protein(BAX),B-cell lymphoma 2 protein(Bcl2),p53,Caspase-3,Caspase-8,Caspase-9,and nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)mRNA levels(all Phyperthyroid group treated with CBZ alone(Group VI)exhibited testicular side effects,affecting seminiferous tubules and ***,the Group VIII showed improved spermatogenesis and a decrease in testicular side *** addition of VE to the treatment of hyperthyroid rats with CBZ reduced testicular side effects and seminiferous tubular affection when potentially improving *** research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms fully.
