The past decade has witnessed a variety of members of the carbon family along with exposure of carbon dots due to their magnificent properties in sensing,bioimaging,catalytic applications,biomedical fields,and so ***,we report the simple hydrothermal method to fabricate photoluminescent doped carbon quantum dots for the detection of noxious lead(II)***(II)ion is very venomous for both the environment and human health for which its detection is demanded area in the research *** as-prepared carbon dots show excellent photostability,low toxicity and significant photoluminescence properties along with good water *** with these properties,carbon dots have a quantum yield of approximately 15%.In the practical field of application,these carbon dots have been used as sensing probes for the detection of lead(II)ions with a detection limit of 60 nmol·l^(–1).The fluorescence intensity of carbon dots was remarkably quenched in the presence of the lead(II)ion selectively among all the tested metal ***,we have studied the Stern–Volmer relationship for lead(II)quenching along with the explanation of the probable quenching *** of the doped carbon dots in heavy metal ions sensing in an environmental sample was demonstrated.

An attempt has been made to study the behavior of nailed vertical excavations in medium dense to dense cohesionless soil under seismic conditions using a pseudo-dynamic approach. The effect of several parameters such as angle of internal friction of soil （φ）, horizontal （kh） and vertical （kv） earthquake acceleration coefficients, amplification factor （fa）, length of nails （l）, angle of nail inclination （a） and vertical spacing of nails （S） on the stability of nailed vertical excavations has been explored. The limit equilibrium method along with a planar failure surface is used to derive the formulation involved with the pseudo-dynamic approach, considering axial pullout of the installed nails. A comparison of the pseudo-static and pseudo-dynamic approaches has been established in order to explore the effectiveness of the pseudo-dynamic approach over pseudo-static analysis, since most of the seismic stability studies on nailed vertical excavations are based on the latter. The results are expressed in terms of the global factor of safety （FOS）. Seismic stability, i.e., the FOS of nailed vertical excavations is found to decrease with increase in the horizontal and vertical earthquake forces. The present values of FOS are compared with those available in the literature.

Glioblastoma cyst fluid contains growth factors and extracellular matrix proteins which are known as neurotrophic and neurite-promoting agents. Therefore, we hypothesized that glioblastoma cyst fluid can promote the regeneration of injured peripheral nerves. To validate this hypothesis, we transected rat sciatic nerve, performed epineural anastomosis, and wrapped the injured sciatic nerve with glioblastoma cyst fluid- or saline-soaked gelatin sponges. Neurological function and histomorphological examinations showed that compared with the rats receiving local saline treatment, those receiving local glioblastoma cyst fluid treatment had better sciatic nerve function, fewer scars, greater axon area, counts and diameter as well as fiber diameter. These findings suggest that glioblastoma cyst fluid can promote the regeneration of injured sciatic nerve and has the potential for future clinical application in patients with peripheral nerve injury.

AIM: To determine the effect of legalon-SIl (lS) on hepatitis C virus (HCV) core and NS5A expression and on heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX-1) and its transcriptional regulators in human hepatoma cells expressing full length HCV genotype 1b. METHODS: CON1 cells were treated with 50 μmol/l or 200 μmol/l lS. Cells were harvested after 2, 6 and 24 h. HCV RNA and protein levels were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting, respectively. RESUlTS: HCV RNA (core and NS5A regions) wasdecreased after 6 h with lS 200 μmol/l (P l/l lS decreased HCV RNA levels [core region (by 55% and 88%, respectively) and NS5A region (by 62% and 87%, respectively) after 24 h compared with vehicle (dimethyl sulphoxide) control (P larly HCV core and NS5A protein were decreased (by 85%, P ly) by lS 200 μmol/l. Bach1 and HMOX-1 RNA were also downregulated by lS treatment (P le Nrf2 protein was increased (P lUSION: Our results demonstrate that treatment with lS downregulates HCV core and NS5A expression in CON1 cells which express full length HCV genotype 1b, and suggests that lS may prove to be a valuable alternative or adjunctive therapy for the treatment of HCV infection.
