Influence of Blade Outlet Angle on Inner Flow Field of Centrifugal Pump Transporting Salt Aqueous Solution

During transportation of salt aqueous solutions with centrifugal pump, crystallization phenomenon is frequently encountered. For this kind of two-phase flow, it is difficult to be accurately modeled since there are various medium properties and phase change characteristics. In view of experiment, several problems are hampering the implementation of precise measurement. Influences of blade outlet angle and medium temperature on crystallization rate were studied. Sodium sulfate solution was applied to simulate practical fluid in chemical industry. Particle image velocimetry（PIV） was employed to measure velocity distributions in rotating impeller. Crystallization processes in three impellers with different blade outlet angles were investigated. Relations among crystallization and flow parameters such as temperature and velocity were obtained. With the same blade wrap angle, when blade outlet angle is larger, diffusion of single flow passage gets stronger, relative velocity at blade outlet decreases and large scale vortex tends to appear near the blade working surface. For the impact of volume effect of particle phase on fluid viscosity, both liquid and solid phase velocities decrease with continual forming and growing of crystal particles. Velocity of solid phase is greater than that of liquid phase and its direction leans more closely to blade working surface. Solid particles tend to move towards blade working surface, as is more obvious in the impeller with large blade outlet angle. Therefore, collision between solid particles with stem part of blade working surface is more intensive in impeller with large blade outlet angle. Concerning transportation of salt aqueous solution, accurate PIV measurement is conducted in centrifugal impellers with different blade outlet angles. The results are useful and instructive in relevant engineering design and operation.

Urban natural gas is becoming the main sector driving China’s natural gas consumption growth in recent *** study explores the impacts of urban natural gas price,wage,socioeconomic determinants,and meteorological conditions on urban natural gas demand in China over ***,this study also analyzes the potential regional heterogeneity and asymmetry in the impacts of gas price and income on China’s urban gas *** results reveal that:(1)The increased gas price can significantly reduce the urban gas demand,and the average income level may effectively promote the gas demand,also,a strong switching effect exists between electricity and natural gas in urban China;(2)these impacts are heterogeneous in regions among China,urban natural gas demand is largely affected by the gas price in regions with high-gas-price and by income in regions with low-gas-price;and(3)the impact of gas price on urban gas consumption is consistent in regions with different urban natural gas consumption,while the impact of income is *** study further provides several policy implications for improving the urban natural gas industry in China.

Fabrication and Characterization of FeNiCr Matrix-TiC Composite for Polishing CVD Diamond Film

Dynamic friction polishing （DFP） is one of the most promising methods appropriate for polishing CVD diamond film with high efficiency and low cost. By this method CVD diamond film is polished through being simply pressed against a metal disc rotating at a high speed utilizing the thermochemical reaction occurring as a result of dynamic friction between them in the atmosphere. However, the relatively soft materials such as stainless steel, cast iron and nickel alloy widely used for polishing CVD diamond film are easy to wear and adhere to diamond film surface, which may further lead to low efficiency and poor polishing quality. In this paper, FeNiCr matrix-TiC composite used as grinding wheel for polishing CVD diamond film was obtained by combination of mechanical alloying （MA） and spark plasma sintering （SPS）. The process of ball milling, composition, density, hardness, high-temperature oxidation resistance and wear resistance of the sintered piece were analyzed. The results show that TiC was introduced in MA-SPS process and had good combination with FeNiCr matrix and even distribution in the matrix. The density of composite can be improved by mechanical alloying. The FeNiCr matrix-TiC composite obtained at 1273 K was found to be superior to at 1173 K sinterin8 in hardness, high-temperature oxidation resistance and wearability. These properties are more favorable than SUS304 for the preparation of high-performance grinding wheel for polishing CVD diamond film.

Science Letters:A synthetic Toll-like receptor 2 ligand decreases allergic immune responses in a mouse rhinitis model sensitized to mite allergen

It has been proposed that activation of Toll-like receptors （TLRs） plays crucial roles in the polarization of adaptive immune responses. A synthetic Toll-like receptor 2 （TLR2） ligand, Pam3CSK4, has been reported to modulate the balance of Th1/Th2 responses. We evaluated the modulation effect of Pam3CSK4 on allergic immune response in a mouse rhinitis model sensitized to house dust mite allergen （HDM）. Mice were sensitized and challenged with Dermatophagoidesfarinae allergen （Der f）, and then the allergic mice were treated by Pam3CSK4. Nasal allergic symptoms and eosinophils were scored. Der f-specific cytokine responses were examined in the splenocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid （BALF）. Serum level of total IgE was also detected. After establishing a mouse allergic rhinitis model with HDM, we have showed that Pam3CSK4 treatment not only ameliorated the nasal allergic symptoms remarkably but also decreased the eosinophils and total inflammation cells in BALF significantly. Analysis of cytokine profile found that IFN-7 released from either BALF or stimulated splenocytes increased markedly in Pam3CSK4-treated mice, while IL-13 decreased significantly. Moreover, serum level of total IgE was significantly lower in Pam3CSK4-treated mice than in the untreated. Thus, in an allergic rhinitis mouse model developed with HDM, Pam3CSK4 was shown to exhibit an antiallergic effect, indicating its potential application in allergic diseases.

ROP11 GTPase is a Negative Regulator of Multiple ABA Responses in Arabidopsis

The phytohormone abscisic acid （ABA） plays crucial roles in plant development and plant responses to environmental stresses. Although ABA receptors and a minimal set of core molecular components have recently been discovered, understanding of the ABA signaling pathway is still far from complete. In this work, we characterized the function of ROP11, a member of the plant-specific ROP small GTPases family, in the ABA signaling process. ROP11 is preferentially expressed in guard cells in all plant organs with stomata. Expression of a constitutively active ROP11 （CA-ROP11） suppresses ABA-mediated responses, whereas reduced expression of ROP11 or expression of its dominant-negative form （DN-ROP11） causes the opposite phenotypes. The affected ABA-mediated responses by ROP11 include seed germination, seedling growth, stomatal closure, induction of ABA-responsive genes, as well as plant response to drought stress. Furthermore, we showed that ROP11 and its closest-related family member, ROP10, act in parallel in mediating these responses. ABA treatment does not affect ROP11 transcription and protein abundance; however, it causes the accumulation of CA-ROP11 in the nucleus. These results demonstrated that ROP11 is a negative regulator of multiple ABA responses in Arabidopsis.

Experimental investigation of aerodynamics of turbine blade trailing edge cooling

This paper presented an experimental investigation the effects of the trailing edge cooling on the aerodynamic performance. The experiments were conducted on the low-speed linear cascade tunnel at Northwestern Polytechnical University. The external aerodynamic characteristics in the 40 percent chord downstream of exit plane were measured using five-hole probe with the different ejection rates. The results showed that the total pressure loss coefficient at the middle spanwise plane increased at first and then it has a decreasing tendency with the increase of ejection ratio. The trailing edge cooling would influence the structure of the turbine cascade outlet flow field. When the ejection rate was 3%,the loss area near the blade endwall would become stronger,but it would become weaker with the 6% ejection ratio. On the whole,the trailing edge cooling had more influence on the profile loss than on the secondary loss.

Objective: To investigate whether Suxiao Jiuxin Pills(SJP), a Chinese herbal remedy, is an anti-ventricular fibrillation(VF) agent. Methods: VF was induced by isoproterenolol(ISO) intraperitoneal injection followed by electrical pacing in mice and rabbits. The effects of SJP on the L-type calcium channel current(CaV1.2), voltage-dependent sodium channel current(INa), rapid and slow delayed rectifier potassium channel current(IKr and IKs, respectively) were studied by whole-cell patch-clamp method. Computer simulation was implemented to incorporate the experimental data of SJP effects on the CaV1.2 current into the action potential(AP) and pseudo-electrocardiography(pseudo-ECG) models. Results: SJP prevented VF induction and reduced VF durations significantly in mice and rabbits. Patch-clamp experiments revealed that SJP decreased the peak amplitude of the CaV1.2 current with a half maximal concentration(IC50) value of 16.9 mg/L(SJP-30 mg/L, –32.8±6.1 pA;Verapamil, –16.2±1.8 pA;vs. control, –234.5±16.7 pA, P0.05). Computer simulation showed that SJP-reduced CaV1.2 current shortened the AP duration,transiting VF into sinus rhythm in pseudo-ECG. Conclusion: SJP reduced VF via inhibiting the CaV1.2 current with in vivo, in vitro, and in silico studies, which provide experimental basis for SJP anti-VF clinical application.

A review of China's energy consumption structure and outlook based on a long-range energy alternatives modeling tool

China＇s energy consumption experienced rapid growth over the past three decades, raising great concerns for the future adjustment of China＇s energy consumption structure. This paper first presents the historical evidence on China＇s energy consumption by the fuel types and sectors. Then, by establishing a bottom-up accounting framework and using long-range energy alternatives plan- ning energy modeling tool, the future of China＇s energy consumption structure under three scenarios is forecast. According to the estimates, China＇s total energy con- sumption will increase from 3014 million tonnes oil equivalent （Mtoe） in 2015 to 4470 Mtoe in 2040 under the current policies scenario, 4040 Mtoe in 2040 under the moderate policies scenario and 3320 Mtoe in 2040 under the strong policies scenario, respectively, lower than those of the IEA＇s estimations. In addition, the clean fuels （gas, nuclear and renewables） could be an effective alternative to the conventional fossil fuels （coal and oil） and offer much more potential. Furthermore, the industry sector has much strong reduction potentials than the other sectors. Finally, this paper suggests that the Chinese government should incorporate consideration of adjustment of the energy consumption structure into existing energy policies and measures in the future.

Selecting China＇s strategic petroleum reserve sites by multi-objective programming model

An important decision for policy makers is selecting strategic petroleum reserve sites. However, policy makers may not choose the most suitable and efficient locations for strategic petroleum reserve（SPR） due to the complexity in the choice of sites. This paper proposes a multi-objective programming model to determine the optimal locations for China＇s SPR storage sites. This model considers not only the minimum response time but also the minimum transportation cost based on a series of reasonable assumptions and constraint conditions. The factors influencing SPR sites are identified to determine potential demand points and candidate storage sites. Estimation and suggestions are made for the selection of China＇s future SPR storage sites based on the results of this model. When the number of petroleum storage sites is less than or equals 25 and the maximum capacity of storage sites is restricted to 10 million tonnes, the model＇s result best fit for the current layout scheme selected thirteen storage sites in four scenarios. Considering the current status of SPR in China,Tianjin, Qingdao, Dalian, Daqing and Zhanjiang, Chengdu,Xi＇an, and Yueyang are suggested to be the candidate locations for the third phase of the construction plan. The locations of petroleum storage sites suggested in this work could be used as a reference for decision makers.
