Influences of diel and tidal cycles on fish assemblage in eelgrass(Zostera marina) bed of southern Korea during autumn

Short-term tidal and diel variations of autumn fish assemblage in a Zostera marina bed were investigated using 3 h interval samplings for 24 h in both spring and neap tide using a small beam trawl.A total of 1 346 fishes belonging to 19 species were collected at spring tide,whereas 1 115 fishes belonging to 17 species were at neap *** common fish species were Nuchequula nuchalis,Acanthogobius flavimanus,Takifugu niphobles,Acentrogobius pflaumii,and Pholis nebulosa with the former three species dominating at spring tide,while the latter two species being abundant at neap *** variation in abundance was significant with higher abundance at night than day,but there were no significant differences between spring and neap tides,and between ebb and flood tides（three-way ANOVAs）.Diel variation in the abundance of fishes may be influenced by tidal range and cycle,and day-night differences of food availability and behaviors of fishes ***-metric multidimensional scaling（n MDS） ordination and analysis of similarity（ANOSIM） results revealed significant differences in species compositions both between day and night,and between spring and neap *** beds are highly productive marine ecosystem,and thus,our results will contribute to conservation of seagrass ecosystem in the study area.

Small-scale analysis of brittle-to-ductile transition behavior in pure tungsten

Tungsten as a material exhibits broad and increasingly important applications;however,the characterization of its ductile-to-brittle transition(BDT)is currently limited to large-scale scenarios and destructive *** this study,we overcome this challenge by implementing small-scale techniques to provide a comprehensive understanding of the BDT behavior of pure *** order to predict the failure mode at various temperature ranges,the practical fracture analysis diagram has been proposed to describe the resistance to shear flow and cracking behavior with *** temperature nano-indentation tests have provided the inherent mechanical responses corresponding to the maximum shear stress at various temperatures,which is required for dislocation activities in an atomic scaled activation *** one hand,atomistic simulations have provided the temperature dependence of brittle fracture stress,where the atomic bonds break due to intergranular or intragranular *** considered four tungsten specimens having various microstructures prepared using different processing conditions of cold-rolling and post-annealing,and their BDT ranges were inferred using the obtained fracture analysis diagram with the statistical data *** fracture analysis diagram of each specimen obtained were compared with the direct observation of fracture responses in macroscopic mechanical tests,which conclusively indicated that the small-scale inherent mechanical properties are greatly relevant to the macroscopic BDT behavior in pure *** on the BDT estimations by small-scale characterization,we provided further insights into the factors affecting the BDT behavior of tungsten,focusing on the contributions of different types of dislocations.

Task Offloading Based on Vehicular Edge Computing for Autonomous Platooning

Autonomous platooning technology is regarded as one of the promising technologies for the future and the research is conducted *** autonomous platooning task generally requires highly complex computations so it is difficult to process only with the vehicle’s processing *** solve this problem,there are many studies on task offloading technique which transfers complex tasks to their neighboring vehicles or computation ***,the existing task offloading techniques which mainly use learning-based algorithms are difficult to respond to the real-time changing road environment due to their *** are also challenging to process computation tasks within 100 ms which is the time limit for driving *** this paper,we propose a novel offloading scheme that can support autonomous platooning tasks being processed within the limit and ensure driving *** proposed scheme can handle computation tasks by considering the communication bandwidth,delay,and amount of *** also conduct simulations in the highway environment to evaluate the existing scheme and the proposed *** result shows that our proposed scheme improves the utilization of nearby computing nodes,and the offloading tasks can be processed within the time for driving safety.

Virtual Mold Technique in Thermal Stress Analysis during Casting Process

It is important to analyse the casting product and the mold at the same time considering thermal contraction of the casting and thermal expansion of the mold. The analysis considering contact of the casting and the mold induces the precise prediction of stress distribution and the defect such as hot tearing. But it is difficult to generate FEM mesh for the interface of the casting and the mold. Moreover the mesh for the mold domain spends lots of computational time and memory for the analysis due to a number of meshes. Consequently we proposed the virtual mold technique which only uses mesh of the casting part for thermal stress analysis in casting process. The spring bar element in virtual mold technique is used to consider the contact of the casting and the mold. In general, a volume of the mold is much bigger than that of casting part, so the proposed technique decreases the number of mesh and saves the computational memory and time greatly. In this study, the proposed technique was verified by the comparison with the traditional contact technique on a specimen. And the proposed technique gave satisfactory results.

On extensions of matrix rings with skew Hochschild 2-cocycles

We study structures of endomorphisms and introduce a skew Hochschild 2-cocycles related to Hochschild 2-cocycle. We moreover define skew Hochschild extensions equipped with skew Hochschild 2-cocycles, and then we examine uniquely clean, Abelian, directly finite, symmetric, and reversible ring properties of skew Hochschild extensions and related ring systems. The results obtained here provide various kinds of examples of such rings. Especially, we give an answer negatively to the question of H. Lin and C. Xi for the corresponding Hochschild extensions of reversible （or semicommutative） rings. Finally, we establish three kinds of Hochschild extensions with Hochschild 2-cocycles and skew Hochschild 2-cocycles.

We study the structure of rings which satisfy the von Neumann regularity of commutators,and call a ring R C-regularif ab-ba ∈(ab-ba)R(ab-ba)for all a,b in *** a C-regular ring R,we prove J(R[X])=N^(*)(R[X])=N^(*)(R)[X]=W(R)[X]■Z(R[X]),where J(A),N^(*)(A),W(A),Z(A)are the Jacobson radical,upper nilradical,Wedderburn radical,and center of a given ring A,respectively,and A[X]denotes the polynomial ring with a set X of commuting indeterminates over A;we also prove that R is semiprime if and only if the right(left)singular ideal of R is *** provide methods to construct C-regular rings which are neither commutative nor von Neumann regular,from any given ***,for a C-regular ring R,the following are proved to be equivalent:(i)R is Abelian;(ii)every prime factor ring of R is a duo domain;(ii)R is quasi-duo;and(iv)R/W(R)is reduced.

BRI1-Associated Receptor Kinase 1 Regulates Guard Cell ABA Signaling Mediated by Open Stomata 1 in Arabidopsis

Stomatal movements are critical in regulating gas exchange for photosynthesis and water balance between plant tissues and the atmosphere. The plant hormone abscisic acid （ABA） plays key roles in regulating stomatal closure under various abiotic stresses. In this study, we revealed a novel role of BAKI in guard cell ABA signaling. We found that the brassinosteroid （BR） signaling mutant bakl lost more water than wild- type plants and showed ABA insensitivity in stomatal closure. ABA-induced OST1 expression and reactive oxygen species （ROS） production were also impaired in bakl. Unlike direct treatment with H202, overex-pression of OST1 did not completely rescue the insensitivity of bakl to ABA. We demonstrated that BAK1 forms a complex with OST1 near the plasma membrane and that the BAKI/OST1 complex is increased in response to ABA in planta. Brassinolide, the most active BR, exerted a negative effect on ABA-induced formation of the BAK1/OST1 complex and OST1 expression. Moreover, we found that BAK1 and ABI1 oppositely regulate OST1 phosphorylation in vitro, and that ABI1 interacts with BAK1 and inhibits the interaction of BAK1 and OST1. Taken together, our results suggest that BAK1 regulates ABA-induced stomatal closure in guard cells.

Effects of displacement boundary conditions on thermal deformation in thermal stress problems

Most computational structural engineers are paying more attention to applying loads rather than to DBCs （Displacement Boundary Conditions） because most static stable mechanical structures are working under already prescribed displacement boundary conditions. In all of the computational analysis of solving a system of algebraic equations, such as FEM （Finite Element Method）, three translational and three rotational degrees of freedom （DOF） should be constrained （by applying DBCs） before solving the system of algebraic equation in order to prevent rigid body motions of the analysis results （singular problem）. However, it is very difficult for an inexperienced engineer or designer to apply proper DBCs in the case of thermal stress analysis where no prescribed DBCs or constraints exist, for example in water quenching for heat treatment. Moreover, improper DBCs cause incorrect solutions in thermal stress analysis, such as stress concentration or unreasonable deformation phases. To avoid these problems, we studied a technique which performs the thermal stress analysis without any DBCs; and then removes rigid body motions from the deformation results in a post process step as the need arises. The proposed technique makes it easy to apply DBCs and prevent the error caused by improper DBCs. We proved it was mathematically possible to solve a system of algebraic equations without a step of applying DBCs. We also compared the analysis results with those of a traditional procedure for real castings.

Study on Vitalizing Port Operation at Ulsan Port： Focused on Main Port of Ulsan

Ulsan port is the hugest industry-oriented port in South Korea. It has the third highest traffic volume of cargo, and also it has the most liquid bulk in Korea. However, on account of thoughtless development, there are other cases like Ulsan port that liquid cargo and general cargo are simultaneously handled. The demurrage ratio takes up to 12.5% of probability on average. In 2010, it has less room at berths for liquid bulk than general cargo and it totally has 107% of processing ratio （throughput）. This indicates that Ulsan port concentrates on liquid cargo more than general cargo depending on the characteristics of the port. This research suggests the effects as alternatives for efficiency and effectivity at both ports, Ulsan port and Pohang port in the case that the general cargo handled in Ulsan port is relocated to Pohang port in terms of the characteristics of products which Pohang port and its hinterland the most focused on. namely, we estimate volume of relocated volume suitable for relocation in assumption that volume handled in Ulsan port is relocated to Pohang port scenario by scenario, analyze the effects of relocated volume, and suggest alternatives for vitalizing Ulsan port.
