The alpha-case formation reactions between Ti and investment molds （Al-2O-3,ZrSiO-4,ZrO-2,CaO stabilized ZrO-2） were evaluated in a plasma arc melting *** of thermodynamic approaches,there were distinct alpha-case *** reaction products were characterized by electron probe micro-analysis and transmission electron ***α-case generation between Ti and Al-2O-3 mold was not able to be explained by the conventionalα-case formation mechanism,which is known to be formed by the interstitials,especially oxygen dissolved from mold ***,from our experimental results and thermodynamic calculations,it was confirmed that theα-case is formed not only by an interstitial element but also by substitutional metallic elements dissolved from mold *** newly establishedα-case formation mechanism will surely lead to a variety of significant applications of theα-case controlled Ti casting.

The direct current-direct current (DC-DC) converter is designed for 1 T static random access memory (SRAM) used in display driver integrated circuits (ICs), which consists of positive word-line voltage (VPWL), negative word-line voltage (VNWL) and half-VDD voltage (VHDD) generator. To generate a process voltage temperature (PVT)-insensitive VPWL and VNWL, a set of circuits were proposed to generate reference voltages using bandgap reference current generators for respective voltage level detectors. Also, a VPWL regulator and a VNWL charge pump were proposed for a small-area and low-power design. The proposed VPWL regulator can provide a large driving current with a small area since it regulates an input voltage (VCI) from 2.5 to 3.3 V. The VNWL charge pump can be implemented as a high-efficiency circuit with a small area and low power since it can transfer pumped charges to VNWL node entirely. The DC-DC converter for 1 T SRAM were designed with 0.11 μm mixed signal process and operated well with satisfactory measurement results.

Dear Editor,We would like to introduce a simple technique for the efficient rescue and refixation of a subluxated retropupillary iris claw intraocular lens(RPICIOL;Artisan■Aphakia model 205,Ophtec BV,Groningen,the Netherlands).The RPICIOL is a suture-less,posterior iris-fixated,polyinethyl methacrylate intraocular lens(IOL)that has gained widespread recognition and expanding use because of its efficiency in management of aphakia,combined with long-term intraocular safety and excellent sustained visual outcomes11 Postoperative dislocation/disenclavation of the RPICIOL may occur spontaneously or following trauma,with a rate reportedly between 0 to 10%[4-6].

The demand for defect diagnoses is gradually gaining ground owing to the growing necessity to implement safe inspection methods to ensure the durability and quality of ***,conventional manpower-based inspection methods not only incur considerable cost and time,but also cause frequent disputes regarding defects owing to poor ***,the demand for an effective and efficient defect-diagnosis model for concrete structures is imminent,as the reduction in maintenance costs is significant from a long-term ***,this paper proposes a deep learning-based image objectidentification method to detect the defects of paint peeling,leakage peeling,and leakage traces that mostly occur in underground parking lots made of concrete *** deep learning-based object-detection method can replace conventional visual inspection methods.A faster region-based convolutional neural network(R-CNN)model was used with a training dataset of 6,281 images that utilized a region proposal network to objectively localize the regions of interest and detect the surface *** defects were classified according to their type,and the learning of each exclusive model was ensured through test sets obtained from real underground parking *** a result,average precision scores of 37.76%,36.42%,and 61.29%were obtained for paint peeling,leakage peeling,and leakage trace defects,***,this study verified the performance of the faster RCNN-based defect-detection algorithm along with its applicability to underground parking lots.

AIM To evaluate the clinical advantages of single-port laparoscopic hepatectomy(SPLH) compare to multiport laparoscopic hepatectomy(MPLH).METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 246 patients who underwent laparoscopic liver resection between January 2008 and December 2015 at our hospital. We divided the surgical technique into two groups; SPLH and MPLH. We performed laparoscopic liver resection for both benign and malignant disease. Major hepatectomy such as right and left hepatectomy was also done with sufficient disease-free margin. The operative time, the volume of blood loss, transfusion rate, and the conversion rate to MPLH or open surgery was evaluated. The post-operative parameters included the meal start date after operation, the number of postoperative days spent in the hospital, and surgical complications was also *** Of the 246 patients, 155 patients underwent SPLH and 91 patients underwent MPLH. Conversion rate was 22.6% in SPLH and 19.8% in MPLH(P = 0.358). We performed major hepatectomy, which was defined as resection of more than 2 sections, in 13.5% of patients in the SPLH group and in 13.3% of patients in the MPLH group(P = 0.962). Mean operative timewas 136.9 ± 89.2 min in the SPLH group and 231.2 ± 149.7 min in the MPLH group(P < 0.001). The amount of blood loss was 385.1 ± 409.3 m L in the SPLH group and 559.9 ± 624.9 m L in the MPLH group(P = 0.016). The safety resection margin did not show a significant difference(0.84 ± 0.84 cm in SPLH vs 1.04 ± 1.22 cm in MPLH, P = 0.704). Enteral feeding was started earlier in the SPLH group(1.06 ± 0.27 d after operation) than in the MPLH group(1.63 ± 1.27 d)(P < 0.001). The mean hospital stay after operation was non-significantly shorter in the SPLH group than in the MPLH group(7.82 ± 2.79 d vs 7.97 ± 3.69 d, P = 0.744). The complication rate was not significantly different(P = 0.397) and there was no major perioperative complication or mortality case in both groups. CONCLUS

AIM:To investigate the risk factors for Clostridiumdifficile-associated diarrhea(CDAD)recurrence,and its relationship with proton pump inhibitors(PPIs). METHODS:Retrospective data of 125 consecutive hospitalized patients diagnosed with CDAD between January 2006 and December 2007 were collected by medical chart *** data included patient characteristics at baseline,underlying medical disease, antibiotic history before receiving a diagnosis of CDAD, duration of hospital stay,severity of CDAD,concurrenttreatment with PPIs,laboratory parameters,response to CDAD therapy,and recurrence of disease within 90 d of successful *** clinical and laboratory parameters were compared in patients in whom CDAD did or did not recur. RESULTS:Of the 125 patients(mean age,67.6± 13.9 years)that developed CDAD,98(78.4%)did not experience recurrence(non-recurrent group)and 27 (21.6%)experienced one or more recurrences(recurrent group).Prior to the development of CDAD,96% of the 125 patients were prescribed antibiotics,and 56(44.8%)of the patients received *** older than 65 years(P=0.021),feeding via nasogastric tube(NGT)(P=0.045),low serum albumin level(P =0.025),and concurrent use of PPIs(P=0.014) were found to be risk factors for CDAD recurrence by univariate ***,sex,length of hospital stay,duration and type of antibiotics used,severity of disease,leukocyte count and C-reactive protein(CRP) were not associated with risk of CDAD *** multivariate analysis,the important risk factors were advanced age(>65 years,adjusted OR:1.32,95% CI:1.12-3.87,P=0.031),low serum albumin level(< 2.5 g/dL,adjusted OR:1.85,95%CI:1.35-4.91,P= 0.028),and concurrent use of PPIs(adjusted OR:3.48, 95%CI:1.64-7.69,P=0.016). CONCLUSION:Advanced age,serum albumin level< 2.5 g/dL,and concomitant use of PPIs were found to be significant risk factors for CDAD recurrence.

Multiphoton microscopy, relying on the simultaneous absorption of two or more photons by a fluorophore, has come to occupy a prominent place in modern biomedical research with its ability to allow real-time observation of a single cell and molecules in intact tissues. Multiphoton microscopy exhibits nonlinear optical contrast properties, which can make it possible to provide an exceptionally large depth penetration with less phototoxicity. This system becomes more and more an inspiring tool for a non-invasive imaging system to realize "optical biopsy" and to examine the functions of living cells. In this review, we briefly present the physical principles and properties of multiphoton microscopy as well as the current applications in biological fields. In addition, we address what we see as the future potential of multiphoton microscopy for gastroenterologic research.
