Field penetration index(FPI) is one of the representative key parameters to examine the tunnel boring machine(TBM) *** of accurate FPI prediction can be responsible for numerous disastrous incidents associated with rock mechanics and *** study aims to predict TBM performance(***) by an efficient and improved adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) *** was done using an evolutionary algorithm,*** bee colony(ABC) algorithm mixed with the ANFIS *** role of ABC algorithm in this system is to find the optimum membership functions(MFs) of ANFIS model to achieve a higher degree of *** procedure and modeling were conducted on a tunnelling database comprising of more than 150 data samples where brittleness index(BI),fracture spacing,α angle between the plane of weakness and the TBM driven direction,and field single cutter load were assigned as model inputs to approximate FPI *** to the results obtained by performance indices,the proposed ANFISABC model was able to receive the highest accuracy level in predicting FPI values compared with ANFIS *** terms of coefficient of determination(R^(2)),the values of 0.951 and 0.901 were obtained for training and testing stages of the proposed ANFISABC model,respectively,which confirm its power and capability in solving TBM performance *** proposed model can be used in the other areas of rock mechanics and underground space technologies with similar conditions.

We are concerned with a reaction-diffusion predator–prey model under homogeneous Neumann boundary condition incorporating prey refuge(proportion of both the species)and harvesting of prey species in this *** for asymptotic stability(local and global)and bifurcation of the subsequent temporal model system are thoroughly analyzed around the unique positive interior equilibrium *** partial differential equation(PDE),the conditions of diffusion-driven instability and the Turing bifurcation region in two-parameter space are *** results around the unique interior feasible equilibrium point specify that the effect of refuge and harvesting cooperation is an important part of the control of spatial pattern formation of the species.A series of computer simulations reveal that the typical dynamics of population density variation are the formation of isolated groups within the Turing space,that is,spots,stripe-spot mixtures,labyrinthine,holes,stripe-hole mixtures and stripes ***,we discuss spatiotemporal dynamics of the system for a number of different momentous parameters via numerical simulations.

Experiment of C-Band Wavelength Conversion in a Silicon Waveguide Pumped by Dispersed Femtosecond Laser Pulse

We experimentally demonstrate the C-band wavelength conversion using four-wave mixing in a 17-mm-long silicon-on-insulator waveguide pumped by a dispersed mode-locked femtosecond laser pulse. The idler can be observed with an incident average pump power lower than 4 dBm, and about 35 nm of conversion bandwidth from 1530nm to 1565nm is measured by using a 1550-nm pump wavelength. The pulse-pumped efficiency is demonstrated to be higher, by more than 22 dB, than the cw-pumped efficiency. The conversion efficiency variations with respect to the pump and signal powers are also investigated.

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers and“novel”brominated flame retardants in floor and elevated surface house dust from Iraq:Implications for human exposure assessment

Concentrations of polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs)and selected novel brominated flame retardants(NBFRs)were measured in indoor dust from the living areas of 18 homes in Basrah,*** is the first report of contamination of the Iraqi environment with these *** evaluate the implications for human exposure,samples were collected from both the floor and from elevated surfaces like tables,shelves and *** normalised for the organic carbon content of the dust sample,concentrations in elevated surface dust of BDE-99,BDE-209,pentabromoethylbenzene(PBEB),bis(2-ethylhexyl)3,4,5,6-tetrabromophthalate(BEH-TEBP),and decabromodiphenylethane(DBDPE)exceeded significantly(p<0.05)those in floor dust from the same *** suggests that previous studies that base estimates of adult exposure via dust ingestion on floor dust,may underestimate *** underestimation is less likely for toddlers who are far more likely to ingest floor *** of PBDEs and NBFRs in indoor dust from Basrah,Iraq are at the lower end of levels reported *** PBDE contamination pattern in our samples suggests that use in Iraq of the Deca-BDE formulation,exceeds substantially that of Penta-BDE,but that use of the Octa-BDE formulation has been higher in Iraq than in some other ***,our estimates of exposure to our target BFRs via dust ingestion for the Iraqi population fall well below the relevant health-based limit values.

Simulation of foamed concrete compressive strength prediction using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system optimized by nature-inspired algorithms

Concrete compressive strength prediction is an essential process for material design and *** study investigates several novel hybrid adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)evolutionary models,i.e.,ANFIS-particle swarm optimization(PSO),ANFIS-ant colony,ANFIS-differential evolution(DE),and ANFIS-genetic algorithm to predict the foamed concrete compressive *** concrete properties,including cement content(C),oven dry density(O),water-to-binder ratio(W),and foamed volume(F)are used as input variables.A relevant data set is obtained from open-access published experimental investigations and used to build predictive *** performance of the proposed predictive models is evaluated based on the mean performance(MP),which is the mean value of several statistical error *** optimize each predictive model and its input variables,univariate(C,O,W,and F),bivariate(C-O,C-W,C-F,O-W,O-F,and W-F),trivariate(C-O-W,C-W-F,O-W-F),and four-variate(C-O-W-F)combinations of input variables are constructed for each *** results indicate that the best predictions obtained using the univariate,bivariate,trivariate,and four-variate models are ANFIS-DE-(O)(MP=0.96),ANFIS-PSO-(C-O)(MP=0.88),ANFIS-DE-(O-W-F)(MP=0.94),and ANFIS-PSO-(C-O-W-F)(MP=0.89),***-PSO-(C-O)yielded the best accurate prediction of compressive strength with an MP value of 0.96.

Background: Post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF) is a leading cause of postoperative mortality after liver surgery. Due to its significant impact, it is imperative to understand the risk stratification and preventative strategies for PHLF. The main objective of this review is to highlight the role of these strategies in a timeline centered way around curative resection. Data sources: This review includes studies on both humans and animals, where they addressed PHLF. A literature search was conducted across the Cochrane Library, Embase, MEDLINE/Pub Med, and Web of Knowledge electronic databases for English language studies published between July 1997 and June 2020. Studies presented in other languages were equally considered. The quality of included publications was assessed using Downs and Black’s checklist. The results were presented in qualitative summaries owing to the lack of studies qualifying for quantitative analysis. Results: This systematic review with 245 studies, provides insight into the current prediction, prevention, diagnosis, and management options for PHLF. This review highlighted that liver volume manipulation is the most frequently studied preventive measure against PHLF in clinical practice, with modest improvement in the treatment strategies over the past decade. Conclusions: Remnant liver volume manipulation is the most consistent preventive measure against PHLF.

Risk factors for fever and sepsis after percutaneous nephrolithotomy

Objective:Percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL)is commonly used in the management of large renal *** infections are one of the most common complications of this *** present study is to determine and assess the factors that may increase the risk to develop fever and urinary sepsis after ***:A total of 60 patients(38 males and 22 females)with a mean age of 40.25 years enrolled in this study in Sulaimania Teaching *** had renal stone disease need operation with different socioeconomic status,body mass index and different type and size of stones were included in this *** with preoperative positive urine culture and sensitivity were *** investigations done for all *** Patients received prophylactic antibiotic gentamicin intravenously at the induction of *** pelvis urine sample were taken from all patients after puncturing the pelvicalyceal system and send for culture and *** were monitored closely in the postoperative period for the development of fever and ***:Mean duration of the operations was 77.08 min ranged 40e120 *** patients had postoperative nephrostomy ***(28.33%)patients developed post PCNL fever and the statistically significant factors for post PCNL fever were diabetes mellitus(DM)(p Z 0.001),stone burden(p Z 0.001),number of the stones(p<0.001),degree of hydronephrosis(p Z 0.001),duration of the operation(p<0.001),residual stones(p Z 0.001)and number of tracts(p Z 0.038).Three(5.00%)patients developed post PCNL sepsis,and the statistically significant risk factors for post PCNL sepsis were duration of the operation(p Z 0.013)and intraoperative blood loss,postoperative drop in haemoglobin(HB)level(p Z 0.046).Conclusion:DM,staghorn stones,degree of hydronephrosis,duration of the operation and number of tracts are risk factors for post PCNL fever,while number of stones,intraoperative blood loss,duration of the operation

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)comprises low power devices that are randomly distributed in a geographically isolated *** energy consumption of nodes is an essential factor to be ***,an improved energy management technique is designed in this investigation to reduce its consumption and to enhance the network’s *** can be attained by balancing energy clusters using a meta-heuristic Firefly algorithm model for network *** improved technique is based on the cluster head selection technique with measurement of the tour length of *** Division Multiple Access(TDMA)scheduler is also improved with the characteristics/behavior of fireflies and also *** last,the development approach shows the progression of the network lifetime,the total number of selected Cluster Heads(CH),the energy consumed by nodes,and the number of packets *** approach is compared with Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector(AODV),Dynamic Source Routing(DSR)and Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEAH)*** is performed in MATLAB with the numerical outcomes showing the efficiency of the proposed *** energy consumption of sensor nodes is reduced by about 50%and increases the lifetime of nodes by 78%more than AODV,DSR and LEACH *** parameters such as cluster formation,end to end delay,percentage of nodes alive and packet delivery ratio,are also evaluated...The anticipated method shows better trade-off in contrast to existing techniques.
