Aims:The aim was to analyze the homicide pattern in South kerala from autopsies conducted between 2002 and ***:Exploring the age and gender distribution of death due to homicide,the type and distribution of injuries according to the region of the body,and trends of *** also tried to study the pattern of defense wounds in homicidal cases and characteristics in dyadic deaths(homicide-suicide).Materials and Methods:It was a retrospective descriptive *** setting was the Department of Forensic Medicine,State Medico-Legal Institute,Government Medical College(GMC),*** cases of autopsies with an alleged history of homicide,between 2002 and 2016,done at Mortuary of GMC,Thiruvananthapuram,were included in the *** of all cases of an alleged history of homicide from January 1,2002 to December 31,2016 were ***:957 cases were *** annual incidence of homicide is declining after *** adult males(31T0 years)are the most common group involved(24.97%).Head injury was the most common cause of death(43.68%).The head was the most common area to be affected in fatal blunt force injuries(49%)while the chest was involved commonly in fatal sharp force injuries(36%).Females were more often the homicide victims in ***-wife and fatherchild combination was the most common pairs in dyadic ***:The characteristics which were associated with the homicides were generally in agreement with the existing forensic *** findings encourage examining the motives of homicide and potential sociocultural factors affecting the victims and possibly the *** also found that the murder-suicide cases differed from the homicides requiring a separate domain of understanding and subsequent investigations.

Continuous revision of the histologic and stage-wise classification of lung cancer by the World Health Organization (WHO) provides the foundation for therapeutic advances by promoting molecular targeted and immunotherapies and ensuring accurate diagnosis. Cancer epidemiologic data provide helpful information for cancer prevention, diagnosis, and management, supporting health-care interventions. Global cancer mortality projections from 2016 to 2060 show that cancer will overtake ischemic heart diseases (IHD) as the leading cause of death (18.9 million) immediately after 2030, surpassing non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which accounts for 85 percent of lung cancers. The clinical stage at the diagnosis is the main prognostic factor in NSCLC therapies. Advanced early diagnostic methods are essential as the initial stages of cancer show reduced mortality compared to the advanced stages. Sophisticated approaches to proper histological classification and NSCLC management have improved clinical efficiency. Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and targeted molecular therapies have refined the therapeutic management of late-stage NSCLC, the specificity and sensitivity of cancer biomarkers should be improved by focusing on prospective studies, followed by their use as therapeutic tools. The liquid biopsy candidates such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating cell-free tumor DNA (cfDNA), tumor educated platelets (TEP), and extracellular vesicles (EVs) possess cancer-derived biomolecules and aid in tracing: driver mutations leading to cancer, acquired resistance caused by various generations of therapeutic agents, refractory disease, prognosis, and surveillance.

Post-Endoscopy Self-Limited Unspecified Fever: Rare or Common Adverse Event after Endoscopy?—An Observational, Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Although post-endoscopy fever (PEF) without colon perforation or haemorrhage is believed to be rare, incidence, risk factors and causes in the adult population have not been fully investigated. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the incidence of PEF and identify the risk factors associated with the development of PEF and its outcomes. Material and Methods: Over a three-month period, 1054 non-hospitalised patients who had an endoscopic procedure at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi received a post-procedure phone call within the first 24 hours. After identifying patients with fever and obtaining verbal consent, patients were enrolled in the study using a standardised telephone interview. Results: Thirty-four patients with PEF were identified. The highest temperature measured was 39.8 degrees Celsius. Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy, as a single procedure, was the most commonly performed (41.2%). Logistic regression revealed that no significant group differences across procedure types existed in terms of adjusted odds of fever. However, results also indicated that age has a significant negative relationship with fever—higher age is associated with lower odds of fever (b = -0.033, p = 0.024). Conclusion: PEF is an unpleasant side effect and it is associated with patient discomfort, dissatisfaction and fear during post-endoscopy recovery. Although our findings do not fully explain the possible mechanisms underlying post-endoscopy fever, this study data should increase awareness about PEF as a common side effect related to endoscopy.
