Stress enhances expression of calcium-binding proteins and NmDAR subunit genes in the rat hippocampus

Backgrounds:Oxidative stress impairs the function of calcium-binding proteins and deregulates calcium signaling in living *** have previously explored the overexpression of calcium-binding protein genes in a reactive oxygen and nitrogen species-induced in vitro cell model of stress that leads to ***,in in vivo models,low levels of stress leads to depressive-like ***,we aimed to analyze gene expression of major calcium-binding proteins(calcineurin,calmodulin,calsyntenin,synaptotagmin,and calreticulin)and N-methyl-D-aspartic acid(NmDA)receptor subunits(glutamate receptor ionotropic[GluN]GluN1,GluN2A,and GluN2B)in the hippocampus of stress-induced ***:Six-week-old male Wistar rats were assigned to two stress induction groups and a control group without stress(n=6).Stress was induced by using H_(2)O_(2)(3%in water)or by immobilization(using a sticky mat)over a period of 30 *** of calcium-binding protein genes in the hippocampus,antioxidant assays,structural alterations in hippocampal neurons,and depressive-like behavior were ***:Expression of genes encoding calcium-binding proteins calcineurin,calsyntenin,synaptotagmin and NmDA receptor subunit GluN1 was enhanced in both chemical and physical stress-induced rats compared with control rats(4.25±0.05 vs.1.03±0.02,pmpus were fewer and appeared disorganized compared with control ***,stressinduced rats showed decreased mobility and lower sucrose preference in behavioral studies compared with control ***:Lower levels of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species(RONS)can also lead to stress in rats by affecting their calcium signaling,buffering capacity in the neurons leading to depressive symptoms.

Effect of Tributyltin on Escherichia coli:Role of modifying Factors

The effects of inorganic and organic tin compounds and various factors affecting the toxicity of the latter to Escherichia coli were *** comparison to stannous chloride,tributyltin chloride(TBTC)was more inhibitory to the growth of the test organism;this may be due to its greater liposolubility and ready absorption through the bacterial *** toxicity of TBTC to *** was modulated by various factors,such as pH,sulfate and chloride ions,and the presence of glucose,succinate,and reducing agents like cysteine and dithiothreitol(DTT). TBTC was more toxic to cells in minimal than in complex ***,this compound was more inhibitory to the growth of *** at acid pH than at basic *** in contrast to glucose,when used as a carbon source,made the bacterium more sensitive to *** and DTT(both at a final concentration of 0.5 mm)partially protected the cells against the inhibitory effect of this agent.1989 Academic Press,Inc.

After a prolonged debate and discussion,the World Health Organization(WHO)relisted'snakebite'under Category'A'of'Neglected Tropical Diseases'(NTDs)in June 2017 hoping to diminish its burden on ***,in march 2009,WHO added snakebite to its official list of NTDs but later downgraded to'Other Neglected Conditions',a list reduced in importance[1,2].Obviously,the recent inclusion of snakebite in NTDs was due to the estimation of huge toll of deaths due to snake envenomation in tropical countries as supported by the multiple *** inclusion will expedite the process of developing better management protocols and infusing funds for such affected countries.

Higher frequency of Yq microdeletions in sperm DNA as compared to DNA isolated from blood

Aim： To determine if Yq microdeletion frequency and loci of deletion are similar in two tissues （blood and sperm） of different embryological origin. methods： The present study included 52 infertile oligozoospermic cases. In each case, DNA was isolated from blood and sperms and polymerase chain reaction （PCR） microdeletion analysis was done from genomic DNA isolated from both the tissues. The PCR products were analyzed on a 1.8% agarose gel. PCR amplifications found to be negative were repeated at least three times to confirm the deletion of a given marker. Results： Only 1 case harbored microdeletion in blood DNA, whereas 4 cases harbored microdeletion in sperm DNA. Conclusion： The frequency of Yq microdeletions is higher in germ cells as compared to blood. As the majority of infertile couples opt for assisted reproduction procreation techniques （ART）, Yq microdeletion screening from germ cells is important to understand the genetic basis of infertility, to provide comprehensive counseling and most adapted therapeutics to the infertile couple.

Transmitter-Receiver Path Selection for Cell Range Extension Using multi-Hop D2D

Conventional approach of dealing with more users per coverage area in cellular networks implies densifying the amount of(Access Point)AP which will eventually result in a larger carbon *** this paper,we propose a base station off-loading and cell range extension(CRE)scheme based on multi-hop device-to-device(mHD2D)path selection between transmitter and receiver *** paper also provides derivations of upper and lower bounds for energy efficiency,capacity,and transmit *** proposed path selection scheme is inspired by the foraging behavior of honey *** present the algorithm as a modified variant of the artificial bee colony algorithm(mVABC).The proposed optimization problem is modeled as a minimization problem where we optimize the Energy Efficiency(EE).The proposed path selection mVABC is compared with the Genetic Algorithm(GA)and also with classical artificial bee colony(ABC)through simulations and statistical *** student’s t-test,p-value,and standard error of means(SEm)clearly show that mVABC based path selection out-performs the GA and classical ABC *** based approach is 66%more efficient when compared with classic ABC and about 62%efficient when compared with GA based scheme.

Homicide in southern India—A five-year retrospective study

Homicide has become a common practice reflecting anger in southern India. The purpose of this study was to identify the potential risk factors and susceptible victims. This retrospective study analyses the data of 590 cases. Our study revealed that the victims were mostly males of 21 - 30 years, married (63.56%), illiterates (44.07%), low socioeconomic status and belong to rural areas. The laborers and farmers were almost equally affected in males and housewives in females. Outdoor incidents were more (61.86%). majority of victims were innocent (82.20%) with no previous history of cognizable offence. Blood alcohol was found positive in 30.23% of victims. Sharp cutting weapons were mostly used, with hemorrhage and shock being the most common cause of death. Previous enmity and familial disharmony were the two common causes behind such heinous crime. most victims had injuries over multiple body parts. Some potential risk factors and their preventive measures pointed at the end.

OBJECTIVES:A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station for irrigated crops at Thasara,Anand Agricultural University,Anand,to study the dissipation and risk assessment ofβ-cyfluthrin and imidacloprid as combination product in/on *** AND mETHODS:Solomon 300 OD comprising 9 per centβ-cyfluthrin and 21 per cent imidacloprid was foliar sprayed at the doses of 18+42g ***−1(standard dose)and 36+84g ***−1(double dose).Totally three sprays were made at an interval of 1 week starting from fruiting *** AND DISCUSSIONS:The residues ofβ-cyfluthrin estimated using gas chromatograph with electron capture detector(GC-ECD)showed an initial deposit of 0.16 and 0.27μg g−1 in standard and double doses,*** residues for corresponding doses persisted till 7th and 10th day after application and reached below determination level of 0.01μg g−1 on the 10th and 15th day,*** was estimated using high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and showed initial deposits of 1.22 and 2.7μg g−1 in standard and double doses,*** levels reached below the determination level(0.01μg g−1)on the 15th day in green *** analysis of dissipation kinetics showed thatβ-cyfluthrin followed zero-order kinetics in standard dose with half-life of 7.27 *** double dose,the dissipation kinetics followed first-order kinetics with half-life of 9 *** followed first-order kinetics in both the doses with half-life of 6.7 and 7.7 ***:A pre-harvest interval(PHI)of 15 days is *** risk assessment calculated as hazard quotient was less than 1,rendering the use of combination product as safe-provided proper PHI is followed.

Immuolocalization of nestin in pancreatic tissue of mice at different ages

AIm： To localize nestin positive cells （NPC） in pancreatic tissue of mice of different ages. mETHODS： Paraffin sections of 6-8 um of fixed pancreatic samples were mounted on poly-L-lysine coated slides and used for Immunolocalization using appropriate primary antibodies （Nestin, Insulin, Glucagon）, followed by addition of a fluorescently labeled secondary antibody. The antigen-antibody localization was captured using a confocal microscope （Leica SP 5 series）. RESULTS： In 3-6 d pups, the NPC were localized towards the periphery of the endocrine portion, as evident from immunolocalization of insulin and glucagon, while NPC were absent in the acinar portion. At 2 wk, NPC were localized in both the exocrine and endocrine portions. Interestingly, in 4-wk-old mice NPC were seen only in the endocrine portion, towards the periphery, and were colocalised with the glucagon positive cells. In the pancreas of 8- wk-old mice, the NPC were predominantly localized in the central region of the islet clusters, where immunostaining for insulin was at a maximum. CONCLUSION： We report for the first time the immunolocalization of NPC in the pancreas of mice of different ages （3 d to 8 wk） with reference to insulin and glucagon positive cells. The heterogeneous localization of the NPC observed may be of functional and developmental significance and suggest（s） that mice pancreatic tissue can be a potential source of progenitor cells. NPC from the pancreas can be isolated, proliferated and programmed to differentiate into insulin secreting cells under the appropriate microenvironment.
