Many underutilized fruit plants are still obscure,in spite of possessing high medicinal and nutritional ***,we reviewed one of the underutilized fruits tree(Choerospondias axillaris)and explored its occurrence,distribution,nutritional properties,phytochemicals,and medicinal value,along with associated challenges and *** mining using scientific and common name of this plant species,yielded 77 articles,indicating limited availability of *** parts of the species including fruits,seeds and bark have the potential to be used in different daily needs and therapeutic *** core problem to underutilized fruit tree sustainability includes indiscrimination,lesser accessibility and acceptability,insufficient information on their growth and *** challenges for the production and marketing of *** fruits along with the opportunities of having a high source of income and health benefits from these plants have been discussed.A scheme for the enhancement of utility of this underutilized fruit plants has been suggested in this review.A collective effort of botanists,food scientists,government and international shareholders are needed for promoting its domestication and *** fruits have been found to be a very promising resource in the areas of food and health industries,and possess great opportunity to flourish in the international market.

Cereals and millets have been known as poor man’s crops for a long time,and have good potential in the mercenary system of food and in research and development but these coarse grains have been leftover and underutilised since a long *** addition to nutritional properties,various elements of cereal grains contain phenolic compounds as well as various anti-nutritional *** improve the nutritional quality and availability of these grains,they are processed in several *** review discusses the effect of pre-processing techniques such as germination with a combination of probiotic fermentation on various components of underutilised coarse cereals and millets and advantages it brings into the final *** food mixture usually contains a significantly higher amount of thiamine,lysine and niacin *** combination of cereals with other methods results in better nutrient profile and an enhanced amino acid *** is said to be the most crucial and popular process which considerably lowers the antinutrients present in coarse cereals such as trypsin inhibitor,phytic acid and tannins and hence,enhance the overall nutritive value of coarse cereals and other food ***,germinated cereal-based food products have higher cell count and better growth of beneficial bacteria,thus,germination of cereals facilitates the probiotic fermentation of cereals.

Zinc oxide （ZnO） thin films were grown on silicon substrate by RF （radio frequency） magnetron *** topography of these films exhibited a nanostructured granular appearance with the size of individual grains between 50 to 100 *** cross-sectional electron micrographs revealed columnar grains in the form of aggregated nanorods/wires with length of about 500 nm,similar to the thickness of these thin films of ZnO nucleated and grown vertically on the silicon *** resolution lattice scale imaging using high resolution transmission electron microscope （HRTEM） elucidated the single crystalline 1010 planes of hexagonal-ZnO constituting the columnar grains with the individual nanorod diameter between 3 and 4 *** photoluminescence measurements showed the prominent emission peak at around 460 nm for the blue band,normally attributed to intrinsic defects in particular interstitial zinc （Zn）.These films were further characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）,Raman spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance （EPR） to evaluate various aspects on preferred growth orientations,band structures and vibrational modes originated in such fascinating nano-grained thin films of *** present investigations inferred that these films are advantageous in various potential applications for fabricating nano-scaled devices.

Ecosystem stays far from thermodynamic equilibrium. Through the interactions among biotic and abiotic components, and encompassing physical environments, ecosystem forms a dissipative struc- ture that allows it to dissipate energy continuously and thereby remains functional over time. Biotic regulation of energy and material fluxes in and out of the ecosystem allows it to maintain a homeostatic state which corresponds to a self-organized state emerged in a non-equilibrium thermodynamic system. While the associated self-organizational processes approach to homeostatic state, entropy （a measure of irre- versibility） degrades and dissipation of energy increases. We propose here that at a homeostatic state of ecosystem, biodiversity which includes both phenotypic and functional diversity, attains optimal values. As long as biodiversity remains within its optimal range, the corresponding homeostatic state is maintained. However, while embedded environmental conditions fluctuate along the gradient of accelerating changes, phenotypic diversity and functional diversity contribute inversely to the associated self-organizing proc- esses. Furthermore, an increase or decrease in biodiversity outside of its optimal range makes the eco- system vulnerable to transition into a different state.

Development of a set of SSR markers for genetic polymorphism detection and interspecific hybrid jute breeding

Corchorus capsularis(white jute) and C. olitorius(dark jute) are the two principal cultivated spedes of jute that produce natural bast fiber of commercial importance. We have identified 4509 simple sequence repeat(SSR) loci from 34,163 unigene sequences of C. capsularis to develop a non-redundant set of 2079 flanking primer pairs. Among the SSRs, trinudeotide repeats were most frequent(60%) followed by dinucleotide repeats(37.6%). Annotation of the SSR-containing unigenes revealed their putative functions in various biological and molecular processes, including responses to biotic and abiotic signals. Eighteen expressed gene-derived SSR(eSSR) markers were successfully mapped to the existing single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) linkage map of jute,providing additional anchor points. Amplification of 72% of the 74 randomly selected primer pairs was successful in a panel of 24 jute accessions, comprising five and twelve accessions of *** and C. olitorius, respectively, and seven wild jute spedes. Forty-three primer pairs produced an average of 2.7 alleles and 58.1% polymorphism in a panel of 24 jute accessions. The mean PIC value was 0.34 but some markers showed PIC values higher than 0.5, suggesting that these markers can efficiently measure genetic diversity and serve for mapping of quantitative trait loci(QTLs) in jute. A primer polymorphism survey with parents of a wide-hybridized population between a cultivated jute and its wild relative revealed their efficacy for interspecific hybrid identificatioii. For ready accessibility of jute eSSR primers, we compiled all information in a user-friendly web database, JuteMarkerdb(http://***/) for the first time in *** eSSR resource in jute is expected to be of use in characterization of germplasm, interspecific hybrid and variety identification, and marker-assisted breeding of superior-quality jute.

The present paper has disseminated the design approach, project implementation, and economics of a nano-grid system. The deployment of the system is envisioned to acculturate the renewable technology into Indian society by field-on-laboratory demonstration (FOLD) and ''bridge the gaps between research, develop-ment, and *** system consists of a solar photovoltaic (PV)(2.4 kWp), a wind turbine (3.2 kWp), and a battery bank (400 Ah). Initially, a prefeasibility study is conducted using the well-established HOMER (hybrid optimization model for electric renewable) software developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), USA. The feasibility study indicates that the optimal capacity for the nano-grid system consists of a 2.16 kWp solar PV, a 3 kWp wind turbine, a 1.44 kW inverter, and a 24 kWh battery bank. The total net present cost (TNPC) and cost of energy (COE) of the system are US$20789.85 and US$0.673/kWh,respectively. However, the hybrid system consisting of a 2.4 kWp of solar PV,a 3.2 kWp of wind turbine, a 3 kVA of inverter, and a 400 Ah of battery bank has been installed due to unavailability of system components of desired values and to enhance the reliability of the *** TNPC and COE of the system installed are found to be US$20073.63 and US$0,635/kWh, respectively and both costs are largely influenced by battery cost. Besides, this paper has illustrated the installation details of each component as well as of the system. Moreover, it has discussed the detailed cost breakup of the system. Furthermore, the performance of the system has been investigated and validated with the simulation results. It is observed that the power generated from the PV system is quite significant and is almost uniform over the year. Contrary to this, a trivial wind velocity prevails over the year apart from the month of April,May,and June,so does the power yield.
