Composite hollow shafts are used in power transmission applications due to their high specific stiffness and high specific *** dynamic characteristics of these shafts are important for transmission *** modelling of these shafts is generally carried out using Equivalent Modulus Beam Theory(EMBT)and Layerwise Beam Theory(LBT)*** EMBT formulation is modified by considering stacking sequence,shear normal coupling,bending twisting coupling and bending stretching *** is observed that modified EMBT formulation is underestimating the shafts stiffness at lower length/mean diameter(l/dm)*** the present work,a new formulation is developed by adding shear deformation along the thickness direction to the existing modified EMBT *** variation of shear deformation along the thickness direction is found using different shear deformation theories,i.e.,first-order shear deformation theory(FSDBT),parabolic shear deformation theory(PSDBT),trigonometric shear deformation theory(TSDBT),and hyperbolic shear deformation theory(HSDBT).The analysis is performed at l/d_(m) ratios of 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,and 40 for carbon/epoxy composites,E-glass/epoxy composites,and boron/epoxy composite *** results show that new formulation has improved the bending natural frequency of the composite shafts for l/d_(m)<15 in comparison with modified *** effect of new formulation is more significant for the second and third bending modes of natural frequencies.

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer(SWIPT)is recently emerging as one of the vital solutions to prolong the lifetime of energy constrained wireless sensor ***,current works on SWIPT considered only the immediate past-hop node’s RF signal as a source of energy harvesting in multi-hop Internet of things(IoT)*** case of weak radio frequency(RF)signal,the amount of harvested energy does not support for continuous ***,in this paper a new energy harvesting mechanism is proposed which considers multiple sources(MS)such as(1)sink broadcasting energy,(2)co-channel interference,(3)neighbor nodes’RF signal,and(4)immediate past-hop node’s RF signal for energy *** such prospect,a new SWIPT architecture is proposed called hybrid SWIPT(H-SWIPT)by integrating time switching(TS)and power splitting(PS)***,an efficient route selection mechanism is introduced to minimize the total energy consumption of the path based on an energy cost *** validate the proposed mechanism,simulation experiments are conducted and obtained the superiority of H-SWIPT compared with existing methods in terms of average harvested ***,the effectiveness of proposed method performance is investigated through energy cost at different node density and barrier rates.

Prediction of the residual strength of clay using functional networks

Landslides are common natural hazards occurring in most parts of the world and have considerable adverse economic effects. Residual shear strength of clay is one of the most important factors in the determination of stability of slopes or landslides. This effect is more pronounced in sensitive clays which show large changes in shear strength from peak to residual states. This study analyses the prediction of the residual strength of clay based on a new prediction model, functional networks（FN） using data available in the literature. The performance of FN was compared with support vector machine（SVM） and artificial neural network（ANN） based on statistical parameters like correlation coefficient（R）, Nash–Sutcliff coefficient of efficiency（E）, absolute average error（AAE）, maximum average error（MAE） and root mean square error（RMSE）. Based on R and E parameters, FN is found to be a better prediction tool than ANN for the given data. However, the R and E values for FN are less than SVM. A prediction equation is presented that can be used by practicing geotechnical engineers. A sensitivity analysis is carried out to ascertain the importance of various inputs in the prediction of the output.

In large-scale networks such as the Internet of Things(IoT),devices seek multihop communication for longdistance communications,which considerably impacts their power ***,this study proposes an energy harvesting-enabled,relay-based communication in multihop clustered IoT networks in a bid to conserve the battery power in multihop IoT ***,this study proposes an efficient,hierarchical clustering mechanism in which entire IoT devices are clustered into two types:the closest cluster(CC)and remote clusters(RCs).Additionally,Euclidean distance is employed for the CC and fuzzy c-means for the ***,for cluster head(CH)selection,this study models a fitness function based on two metrics,namely residual energy and distance(device-to-device distance and device-to-sink distance).After CH selection,the entire clustered network is partitioned into several layers,after which a relay selection mechanism is *** every CH of the upper layer,we assign a few lower-layer CHs to function as *** relay selection mechanism is applied only for the devices in the RCs,while for devices in the CC,the CH functions as a ***,several simulation experiments are conducted to validate the proposed method’s *** results show the method’s superiority in terms of energy efficiency and optimal number of relays in comparison with the state-of-the-art methods.

Severe blood loss due to traumatic injuries remains one of the leading causes of death in emergency *** continues to be the candidate material for hemostatic applications due to its inherent hemostatic ***,available chitosan-based dressings have been reported to have an acidic odor at the wound site due to the incorporation of acid based solvents for their fabrication and deformation under compression owing to low mechanical strength limiting its *** the present study semi-IPN cryogel was fabricated via Schiff's base cross-linking between the polyaldehyde groups of oxidized dextran and thiolated chitosan in presence of locust bean gum(LBG)known for its *** at12C yielded macroporous semi-IPN cryogels with an average pore size of 124.57±20.31 mm and 85.46%*** hydrophobicity index of LBG reinforced semi-IPN cryogel was reduced 2.42 times whereas the swelling ratio was increased by 156.08%compare to control *** increased hydrophilicity and swelling ratio inflated the compressive modulus from 28.1 kPa to 33.85 for LBG reinforced semi-IPN *** structural stability and constant degradation medium pH were also recorded over a period of 12 *** cryogels demonstrated lower adsorption affinity towards *** cytotoxicity assays(direct,indirect)with 3T3-L1 fibroblast cells confirmed the cytocompatibility of the *** hemolysis assay showed<5%hemolysis confirming blood compatibility of the fabricated cryogel,while whole blood clotting and platelet adhesion assays confirmed the hemostatic potential of semi-IPN cryogel.

Transfer RNA-derived small RNAs(tsRNAs)have been shown to be involved in early embryo development and repression of endogenous retroelements in embryos and stem ***,it is unknown whether tsRNAs also regulate embryo *** this study,we mined the sequencing data of a previous experiment in which we demonstrated that the microRNA(miRNA)cargo of preimplantation embryonic extracellular vesicles(EVs)influences embryo *** thus profiled the tsRNA cargo of EVs secreted by blastocysts and *** majority of tsRNAs was identified as tRNA halves originating from the 5'ends of *** the 148 differentially expressed tsRNAs,the 19 nt tRNA fragment(tRF)tDR-14:32-Glu-CTC-1 was found to be significantly up-regulated in EVs derived from ***-qPCR assays confirmed its significant up-regulation in non-blastocyst embryos and their conditioned medium compared to the blastocyst group(P<0.05).Inhibition of tDR-14:32-Glu-CTC-1 by supplementing antagomirs to the conditioned medium improved embryo hatching(P<0.05).Transcriptomic analysis of embryos treated with tDR-14:32-Glu-CTC-1 antagomirs further showed differential expression of genes that are associated with embryo hatching and *** summary,tDR-14:32-Glu-CTC-1 is up-regulated in non-blastocyst embryos and their secretions,and inhibition of tDR-14:32-Glu-CTC-1 promotes embryo hatching,while influencing embryo implantation-related genes and *** results indicate that embryonic EVs containing specific tRFs may regulate preimplantation embryo development.

An ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid （EDTA） precursor-based chemical method is reported for prepar- ing single-phase nickel ferrite （NiFe204） nanopowder. The synthesized powder was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, particle size analysis and scanning electron microscopy. DC electrical resistivity and magnetic property of the synthesized NiFe204 were measured by using a two-probe method and a vibrating sample magnetometer respectively. The DC resistivity behaviour of the NiFe204 nanopowder was correlated with the change of microstructure, during sintering. This EDTA precursor-based method is capable of producing nanos- tructured single-phase NiFe204 powder at a comparatively low calcination temperature and offers the potential of a simple and cost-effective route, including the preparation of other ferrite nanoparticles.

A stability-indicating RP-HPLC method was developed and validated lbr the determination of Rufinamide in tablet dosage forms using C 18 column （250 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 μm） wilh mobile phase consisting of water acetonitrile （40：60, v/v） with a [low rate of 0.8 mL/min （UV detection 215 nm）. Linearity was observed over the concentration range 1.0 200 μg/mL （R2=0.9997） with regression equation y-113190 x＋63053. Rufinamide was subjected to stress conditions including acidic, alkaline, oxidation, photolysis and thermal degradation. Rufinaraide is more sensitive towards acidic degradation. The method was validated as per ICH guidelines.
