Acute cholangitis with Achromobacter xylosoxidans bacteremia after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in hilar cholangiocarcinoma:A case report

BACkGROUND Achromobacter xylosoxidans is a Gram-negative opportunistic aerobe,usually causing nosocomial infections in immunocompromised patients with manifestations including bacteremia,pneumonia,and catheter-related ***,*** have not yet been reported to cause biliary system *** SUMMARY A 72-year-old woman presented to the outpatient department of our hospital with a chief complaint of *** tomography of her abdomen revealed the presence of a mass of approximately 2.4 cm in the hilar portion of the common hepatic duct,consistent with hilar *** performed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)to decompress the obstructed left and right intrahepatic ducts(IHDs)and placed 10 cm and 11 cm biliary stents in the left and right IHDs,***,the day after the procedure,the patient developed post-ERCP cholangitis as the length of the right IHD stent was insufficient for proper bile *** blood culture of the patient tested positive for *** measures included the replacement of the right IHD stent(11 cm)with a longer one(12 cm)and administering culturedirected antibiotic therapy,solving the cholangitis-related *** the cholangitis had resolved,the patient underwent surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma and survived for 912 d without *** ***-induced biliary system infections are extremely *** awareness of physicians and endoscopists is required as this rare pathogen might cause infection after endoscopic procedures.

Detrital zircon geochronology and Hf isotope analysis can be used for inferring provenance characteristics,and to evaluate the tectonic evolution of sedimentary basins and their link with regional *** Paleozoic sequences of the Okcheon Belt consist of the Lower Paleozoic Joseon and the Upper Paleozoic Pyeongan supergroups with Middle Paleozoic hiatus locally on top of the Neoproterozoic bimodal volcanic rocks,reflecting an intracontinental rift setting between the two basements(*** and Yeongnam massifs)at southern part of the korean *** detrital zircon U-Pb ages and Lu-Hf isotope results show that all these Paleozoic strata commonly have Paleoproterozoic and Paleozoic zircon ages with rare Meso-to Neoproterozoic *** individual zircon populations display following features,allowing estimation of their sedimentary provenances:(i)The Paleoproterozoic zircons(ca.1.85 Ga and 2.50 Ga)with similar ranges ofεHf(t)values are most common in the basement rocks of the korean Peninsula,and were sourced from both the Gyeonggi and Yeongnam massifs.(ii)The Meso-to Neoproterozoic zircons,preserved only in the Middle to Late Cambrian clastic sedimentary rocks within the carbonate sequences probably reflect proximal provenance.(iii)The youngest Paleozoic zircons of each formation,almost coincident with their deposition ages,suggest presence of syndepositional magmatism,indicating proximal magmatic sources during their deposition.(iv)The Cambrian-Ordovician zircons,from the Lower Paleozoic sequences,but rare in the successive Upper Paleozoic sequences,suggest a provenance change after the hiatus between the two sedimentary successions.(v)The Permian zircons showing differentεHf(t)values indicate that detrital sources were varied at that *** integrated results in our study suggest provenance variability linked to diverse tectonic environments,reflecting prolonged subduction-related crustal evolution of the proto-korean Peninsula during the Paleozo

Influence of recycled polyethylene terephthalate fibres on plastic shrinkage and mechanical properties of concrete

Polyethylene terephthalate bottles production has drastically increased year after year due to high versatility of polyethylene terephthalate plastics and considerable consumption of *** tandem with that increase,the major concern of society has been the improper disposal of this non-biodegradable material to the *** deal with this concern,recycled polyethylene terephthalate bottles were incorporated in concrete as fibre reinforcements in this *** objective of this research is to evaluate the mechanical properties of recycled polyethylene terephthalate fibre reinforced concrete(RPFRC)in comparison with control concrete without *** terephthalate fibres with three different diameters(0.45,0.65,and 1.0 mm)and two lengths(20 and 30 mm)were added at various proportions(0.5%,1.0%,1.5%and 2.0%)by volume of concrete in order to determine the effect of fibres initially on compressive,flexural and splitting tensile strengths of *** results revealed that none of the fibres have detrimental effects up to 1%volume fraction,however further addition caused slight reductions on mechanical properties in some *** shrinkage resistance and impact resistance tests were also performed according to related *** terephthalate fibres were observed to have marked improvements on those *** a good performance could be attributed primarily to the bridging effect of fibres.

Rice E3 Ligase-Like Protein OsPIAL1 Positively Regulated the Drought Stress Response but Negatively Regulated the Salt Stress Response

Small ubiquitin-like modifier(SUMO)E3 ligases that facilitate the conjugation of SUMO proteins to target substrates contain an SP-RING domain which is like the RING domain found in ubiquitin E3 *** this study,we isolated and characterized the Oryza sativa protein inhibitor of activated STAT like1(OsPIAL1)containing SP-RING domains,as the rice homolog of Arabidopsis ***1 interacts with OsSUMO proteins but does not interact with rice SUMO-conjugating enzymes(OsSCEs).An analysis of transgenic rice plant shows that OsPIAL1 is involved in SUMO conjugation to SCEs but not in SUMO conjugation to *** addition,this OsPIAL1 activity requires drought stress *** profiles show that the OsPIAL1 gene is induced by only drought stress in the leaves,whereas it is repressed by ABA and abiotic stresses in the *** stress leads to the fastest decrease in OsPIAL1 transcripts in the ***,the stress experiments indicate that the transgenic rice plants overexpressing OsPIAL1 exhibit a drought stress-tolerant phenotype but a salt stress hypersensitive *** results and those from Arabidopsis pial mutants suggest that PIALs act as a positive regulator in the drought stress response but as a negative regulator in the salt stress response.

Cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs for cancer-targeted therapy:Recent advances and progress for clinical translation

The cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs are promising strategies to reduce the serious adverse effects of anticancer drugs by improving the cancer selectivity that can be specifically activated by overexpressed cathepsin B in targeted cancer ***,clinical translation of such therapeutic approaches has been restricted by low antitumor efficacy that is mainly attributable to undesirable pharmacokinetic profiles and inefficient tumor-targeting of cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs,due to their small-molecule *** recent decades,many researchers have widely investigated the drug delivery system(DDS)to improve the in vivo pharmacokinetic profiles and tumor-targeting efficiency of cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs via the application of polymers,dendrimers,antibodies,lipids,and inorganic nanoparticles as drug *** addition,the potential therapeutic efficacy of DDS for cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs is demonstrated in multiple studies and combinatorial treatment with typical therapeutic modalities can effectively overcome the challenges of tumor heterogeneity and multidrug *** this review,recent advances and progress of new DDS for cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs are outlined,and their clinical trials are ***,potential challenges and the outlooks for clinical translation of cathepsin B-responsive prodrugs are highlighted.

ARMA–GARCH model with fractional generalized hyperbolic innovations

In this study,a multivariate ARMA–GARCH model with fractional generalized hyperbolic innovations exhibiting fat-tail,volatility clustering,and long-range dependence properties is *** define the fractional generalized hyperbolic process,the non-fractional variant is derived by subordinating time-changed Brownian motion to the generalized inverse Gaussian process,and thereafter,the fractional generalized hyperbolic process is obtained using the Volterra *** on the ARMA–GARCH model with standard normal innovations,the parameters are estimated for the high-frequency returns of six ***,the residuals extracted from the estimated ARMA–GARCH parameters are fitted to the fractional and non-fractional generalized hyperbolic *** results show that the fractional generalized hyperbolic process performs better in describing the behavior of the residual process of high-frequency returns than the non-fractional processes considered in this study.

In this paper,since the Avalanche Photo Diode(APD)for Light-to-Voltage LTV conversion uses a high voltage in the operating range unlike other Photo Diodes(PD),the quenching resistor must be connected in series to prevent overcurrent when using the Transimpedance Amplifier(TIA).In such a case,quenching resistance may affect the transfer function of the TIA circuit,resulting in serious ***,in this paper,by analyzing the effect of APD quenching resistance on the voltage and current loop transfer function of TIA,we proposed a loop analysis and a method for determining the quenching resistance value to improve stability.A TIA circuit with quenching resistance was designed by the proposed method and its operational stability was verified through simulation and chip fabrication.

Nanoscale visualization of hot carrier generation and transfer at non-noble metal and oxide interface

The conversion efficiency of energy-harvesting devices can be increased by utilizing hot-carriers(HCs).However,due to ultrafast carrier-carrier scattering and the lack of carrier injection dynamics,HC-based devices have low *** the present work,we report the effective utilization of HCs at the nanoscale and their transfer dynamics from a non-noble metal to a metal oxide interface by means of real-space photocurrent mapping by using local probe techniques and conducting femtosecond transient absorption(TA)*** photocurrent maps obtained under white light unambiguously show that the HCs are injected into the metal oxide layer from the TiN layer,as also confirmed by conductive atomic force *** addition,the increased photocurrent in the bilayer structure indicates the injection of HCs from both layers due to the broadband absorption efficiency of TiN layer,passivation of the surface states by the top TiN layer,and smaller barrier height of the ***,electrostatic force microscopy and kelvin probe force microscopy provide direct evidence of charge injection from TiN to the MoO_(x)film at the *** TA absorption spectra show a strong photo-bleaching signal over wide spectral range and ultrafast decaying behavior at the picosecond time scale,which indicate efficient electron transfer from TiN to MoO_(x).Thus,our simple and effective approach can facilitate HC collection under white light,thereby achieving high conversion efficiency for optoelectronic devices.
