Effect of heat Treatment on the Corrosion Characteristics of Al-Li Alloys

Experiments were conducted to study the general room temperature corrosion characteristics of heat-treated and non-heat-treated Al-Li alloys with different Li compositions. Corrosion rate was measured using both the polarisation method and the weight-loss method. It was observed that the samples with higher Li content had lower corrosion resistance than those with lower Li content. Moreover, for all the specimens tested, it was fOund that heat treatment at 180℃ for 2 h (for the purpose of precipitation hardening) severely reduced the corrosion resistance,whereas heat treatment at 180℃ for 6 h significantly increased the corrosion resistance.

Compact tension specimens of as-cast Al-3Zn-2Mg and Al-7Zn-2Mg (in wt pct) alloys were subjected to fracture toughness tests at room temperature according to specification5 laid down in ASTM E-399-81. It was found that increasing the Zn content, grain refinement and increasing the solidification rate lead to an increase in the fracture toughness of the material.

This paper reports a Study carried out to substantiate or refute the belief that when coolant is applied, the cutting performance is actually improved. Experiments on cutting forces and chip geometry were conducted in which AISI 1050 Steel was machined by turning using P30 uncoated tungsten carbide tools. Experiments were performed on a CNC Okuma Lh35-N lathe undermachining conditions commonly used in work.h.ps in Singapore and many other parts of the world.

This paper reports some results obtained in an investigation to see how increasing the corundum dispersoid content from o% to 7% in a matrix of hiduminium alloy affects the tensile and compressive strengths, the hardness and the casting characteristics of the composite. The results show that as the corundum content is increased, ultimate tensile strength (UTS)- compressive strength and hardness increase remarkably, whereas fluidity of the molten composite during casting drops significantly. It was found that just a minute amount of corundum is sufficient to cause a fairly large change in the mechanical properties and the fluidity of the molten *** drop in castability is one of the reasons why adding corundum beyond 7 percent is not recommended. If other factors are kept constant, the fluidity is seen to slightly improve if the pouring temperature of the molten metal were increased from 670 to 710℃

In this paper,we present a surface reconstruction via 2D strokes and a vector field on the strokes based on a two-step *** the first step,from sparse strokes drawn by artists and a given vector field on the strokes,we propose a nonlinear vector interpolation combining total variation(TV)and h1 regularization with a curl-free constraint for obtaining a dense vector *** the second step,a height map is obtained by integrating the dense vector field in the first *** discontinuities in surface and discontinuities of surface gradients can be well reconstructed without any surface *** also provide a fast and efficient algorithm for solving the proposed *** vectors on the strokes are interpreted as a projection of surface gradients onto the plane,different types of strokes are easily devised to generate geometrically crucial structures such as ridge,valley,jump,bump,and dip on the *** stroke types help users to create a surface which they intuitively imagine from 2D *** compare our results with conventional methods via many examples.

Background:Studies have demonstrated improved clinical outcomes with extended infusion(EI)piperacillin/tazobactam(TZP)compared to standard infusion(SI).however,there is less evidence on its benefits in noncritically-ill ***-wide EI TZP was implemented at our site on February 21,*** objectives were to compare clinical,safety and economic outcomes between EI and SI ***:A retrospective cohort study of all adult patients who received EI TZP(3.375 g IV q8h infused over 4 hours and SI TZP for≥48 hours during 3 years pre-and postimplementation was *** primary study outcome was 14-day mortality while secondary outcomes included length of hospital stay(LOS),nursing plus pharmacy cost,occurrence of Clostridioides difficile infection,readmission within 30 days and change in Pseudomonas aeruginosa minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)distribution for *** primary outcome and binary secondary outcomes were analyzed using a logistic regression *** was examined using time to event *** was examined using linear regression ***:Overall,2034 patients received EI TZP and 1364 patients received SI *** TZP was associated with lower odds of mortality(OR 0.76,95%CI 0.63-0.91),lower odds of *** infection(OR 0.59,95%CI 0.41-0.84)and 8%lower cost(estimate 0.92,95%CI 0.87-0.98)compared to SI ***:hospital-wide implementation of EI TZP was associated with lower odds of 14-day mortality and incidence of *** infection with cost savings at our institution.
