Objective To study the expression of bone matrix protein （BMP） induced by bovine bone morphogenetic proteins （BMPs） in vitro. Methods Type 1 collagen, osteopontin （OPN）, osteonectin （ON）, osteocalcin （OC）, and bone sialoprotein （BSP） were detected by immunohistochemistry in C2C12 cultured from day 1 to day 28. Results The signaling of bone matrix protein expression became weaker except for type I collagen, OC and BSP after 5 days. fourteen days after culture, the positive signaling of type I collagen, OPN, ON, OC, and BSP was gradually declined, and could be detected significantly as compared with that of the negative control on day 28. BMP assay showed that the lkaline phosphatase （ALP） activity was higher in C2C12 culture than in the control during the 14-day culture. Also, total protein and DNA significantly increased during the 14-day culture. High levels of ALP were seen in preosteoblasts and osteoblsts in vivo and in differentiating osteoblasts in vitro. ALP was well recognized as a marker reflecting osteoblastic activity. Conclusion Native bovine BMP induces conversion of myoblasts into osteoblasts, produces type I collagen, and plays significantly role in osteoinduction and bone matrix mineralization of C2C 12 in vitro.

A continuous observation of organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC),and PM was conducted at an urban site of Beijing,China to investigate the characterization of carbonaceous aerosols during spring *** averaged and standard deviations of OC,EC,PM concentration, and OC/EC ratio were 13.5±7.0μg m,7.1±4.1 μg m,187.8±136.9 μg m,and 2.0±0.4 respectively. OC,EC,and total carbonaceous aerosols (TCA) in PM account for 9.3±5.7%,4.7±9.7%,and 19.6+11.6% *** OC-EC correlations (R=0.7) of PM in Beijing were observed in spring *** OC concentrations are 13.5μg m in both daytime and *** EC concentrations in daytime (7.4μg m) are higher than that in night time (6.8μg m).Both OC and EC concentrations reach peak value in morning time(07:30-10:30) due to motor vehicles during the traffic rush ***,OC,and EC concentration increase while PM concentration,OC/EC ratio, PM/PM,and TCA/PM ratio decrease in dust period in Beijing.A simple method based on OC/EC ratio was used to estimate the relative contribution of sources to carbonaceous aerosols in Beijing PM10 in spring ***,the motor vehicle and coal combustion accounted for 76% and 24%, respectively,for carbonaceous aerosols during the observation *** shows that the motor vehicle is also dominant emission for carbonaceous aerosols in Beijing PM during spring period.

Daily fine aerosol samples(PM) were collected at Tongyu,a semi-arid site in Northeast China from April to June in 2006,when Asian dust event frequently *** concentrations of 9 water-soluble ions were determined in the filter *** results showed that the mean mass level of PM at Tongyu station was 260.9μg/m,and the total mass concentration of 9 kinds of water-soluble ions occupied -17%of PN *** dust storm events(DS) were observed during the sampling period with mean concentration of 528.0μg/m for PM and 39.5μg/m for total *** during non-dust storm(NDS) period,they were 111.7 and 19.6μg/*** mass concentrations of most of water-soluble ions in the DS samples were much higher than those in the NDS *** ratios of ions to fe were stable in DS samples,while they are more scatter in NDS samples,suggesting that anthropogenic influence was significant on NDS samples collected at ***,the observed stable value of k.f.,Ca/fe,Na/fe,NO/fe,and SO/fe ratios during the DS events should link to the characteristics of ionic composition in soil dust northeastern *** balance calculations for the NDS samples suggest that those aerosol particles were alkaline while DS samples were strongly alkaline.A deficit of measured anions during DS implied the presence of carbonate, which can be used to evaluate the carbonate *** relationship between the calculated and detected carbonate concentration was observed,which demonstrate that ion balance supplies another method to estimate the carbonate content during DS.

This paper reports the first demonstration of super broadband infrared downshifting emission extending from1640 nm to 2200 nm with the full width at half maximum of ～ 417 nm in lanthanides(Er3+, ho3+, and Tm3+)-doped α-SiAlON ceramics upon 793 nm excitation. Using α-Si3N4ceramic as a precursor the lanthanides-dopedα-SiAlON ceramics were synthesized by the hot-press method. The lanthanides induced no significant secondary phases in the sintered α-SiAlON ceramics. Strong two-photon upconversion emission bands centered at 547,671 and 694 nm have also been observed upon 793 nm excitation. The time-resolved measurements of the upconversion emissions confirm that the efficient energy transfer among the Er3+, ho3+and Tm3+ions as well as the ground state absorption in Er3+and Tm3+are responsible for the observed spectroscopic properties.

Novel visualization methods and strategies are necessary to cope with the deluge of datasets present in any scientific field to make discoveries and find answers to previously unanswered *** methods and strategies should not only present scientific findings as images in a concise way but also need to be effective and expressive,which often remain ***,we present Versus,a tool to enable easy image quality assessment and image ranking,utilizing a two-alternative forced choice methodology(2AfC)and an efficient ranking algorithm based on a binary *** tool provides a systematic way of setting up evaluation experiments via the web without the necessity to install any additional software or require any programming ***,Versus can easily interface with crowdsourcing platforms,such as Amazon’s Mechanical Turk,or can be used as a stand-alone system to carry out evaluations with *** demonstrate the use of Versus by means of an image evaluation study,aiming to determine if hue,saturation,brightness,and texture are good indicators of uncertainty in three-dimensional protein *** from the power of crowdsourcing,we argue that there is demand and also great potential for this tool to become a standard for simple and fast image evaluations,with the aim to test the effectiveness and expressiveness of scientific visualizations.

EC is a collective term that encompasses all thermally altered carbonaceous material generated from fossil fuel combustion and biomass burning,and can be subdivided into two classes: soot and *** study on PM carbonaceous aerosols (Cao et al.,2007,***.,112, D22S11,doi:10.1029/2006JD008205,2007) measured with the thermal optical reflectance (TOR) method in fourteen Chinese cities are refined by subdividing total EC into char-EC and soot-EC. Average char-EC concentrations vary greatly among the fourteen cities and for winter and summer periods,with concentrations of 8.67 and 2.41 μg m in winter and summer,respectively;while spatial and seasonal soot-EC vary small,with average concentrations of 1.26 and 1.21 μg m in winter and summer,*** to EC,spatial distributions of char-EC are influenced by the fuel consumptions and the Asian monsoon *** small spatial and seasonal variation of soot-EC is consistent with its regional-to-global *** correlations between char-EC and total EC suggest that EC concentrations may be determined mainly by char-EC *** primary emission particles,char-EC and soot-EC ratio is good indicator of EC source profiles since it varies by different source ***-EC/soot-EC ratios show summer minima and winter maxima in all these cities,which are consistent with the fuel *** correlation between char-EC/soot-EC and OC/EC,as well as seasonal small variation of OC/EC,suggests that OC/EC may not be good indicator for EC source identification.
