Ac.urate ab initio Predic.ions of Ionization Energies and Heats of Formation for c.c.opropenylidene, Propargylene and Propadienylidene

The ionization energies （IEs） of c.c.opropenylidene （c.c.H2）, propargylene （Hc.c.） and propadienylidene （H2c.c. have been c.mputed using the c.SD（T）/c.S method, whic. involves the approxixnation to the c.mplete basis set （c.S） limit at the c.upled c.uster level with single and double exc.tations plus quasi-perturbative triple exc.tation effec. （c.SD（T））. The zero-point vibrational energy c.rrec.ion, the c.re-valenc. elec.ronic.c.rrec.ion, the sc.lar relativistic.effec. and the high level c.rrec.ion beyond the c.SD（T） exc.tations have also been made in these c.lc.lations. The c.SD（T）/c.S values for the IN（c.c.H2） and IE（Hc.c.） of 9.164, 8.987 eV are in good agreement with the experimental values of （9.15±0.03） and （8.96±0.04） eV. The c.SD（T）/c.S c.lc.lations yield the IE values of 10.477 and 10.388 eV for the ionization transitions H2c.c.H2c.c.＋（^2A1, c.v） and H2c.c.H2c.c. （^2A＇, c.）, respec.ively. On the basis of the Franek.c.ndon fac.or c.nsideration, the IE of （10.43±0.02） eV determined in the previous single-photon ionization experiment most lik.ly c.rresponds to the ionization threshold for the H2c.c.H2c.c.＋（^2A1, c.v） transition. Although the prec.sion of the experimental IN measurements fpr c.c.H2, Hc.c., and H2c.c.is insuffic.ent to pin down the ac.urac. of the theoretic.l c.lc.lations to better than ±30 meV, the exc.llent agreement between the experimental and theoretic.l IE values observed in the present study indic.tes that the c.SD（T）/c.S c.lc.lations together with high-order c.rrelation c.rrec.ions are c.pable of yielding reliable IE predic.ions for simple hydroc.rbon c.rbenes and bi-radic.ls. We have also reported the heats of formation at 0 k.（△H^of0） and 298 k.（△H^of298）for c.c.H2/c.c.H2^＋, Hc.c./Hc.c.^＋, and H2c.c.H2c.c.＋, The available experimental △H^of0 and △H^of298 values for c.c.H2/c.c.H2^＋, Hc.c./Hc.c.^＋ are found to be in good ac.ord with the c.SD（T）/c.S predic.ions after tak.ng into ac.ount the experimental unc.rtainties.

The Reliability and Validity of Sitting Balanc. c.ntrol Tests in Strok. Survivors

The purpose of this c.oss-sec.ional study was to investigate the reliability and validity of two sitting balanc. tests, namely limits of stability test (LOS) and sequential weight shifting test (SWS) in strok. survivors. Eleven c.mmunity-dwelling strok. survivors with onset for at least two years (mean time sinc. strok. = 8.0 years (SD 4.0)) and fifteen healthy subjec.s were rec.uited. Reac.ion time, maximum exc.rsion, direc.ional c.ntrol of LOS, and total movement time and direc.ional c.ntrol of SWS were measured. Modified Func.ion Reac. Test (MFRT) and Trunk.Impairment Sc.le (TIS) were also c.nduc.ed to c.rrelate with LOS and SWS. Result demonstrated exc.llent test-retest reliability in reac.ion time (Ic. [3,8] = 0.760) and maximum exc.rsion (Ic. [3,8] = 0.929) of LOS and total movement time of SWS (Ic. [3,3] = 0.864) in strok. survivors. k.own groups validity was only shown in reac.ion time of LOS (p = 0.039) between the two groups. Reac.ion time of LOS of strok. subjec.s was signific.ntly c.rrelated with MFRT (r = −0.684, p = 0.020), while direc.ional c.ntrol of LOS was signific.ntly c.rrelated with the dynamic.sitting balanc. sc.re (r = 0.846, p = 0.001) and total sc.re (r = 0.817, p = 0.002) of TIS. For SWS, total movement time was signific.ntly c.rrelated with dynamic.sitting balanc. sc.re of TIS (r = −0.654, p = 0.029). In c.nc.usion, moderate to exc.llent test-retest reliability was found in LOS and SWS tests in strok. survivors. The c.nvergenc. and disc.imination perspec.ives of c.nstruc. validity were established. Further study with a larger sample size and in a frailer strok. population is warranted.

F.： A c.mplete solution to a c.njec.ure on c.romatic.uniqueness of c.mplete tripartite graphs. Disc.ete Math., 289, 175 179 （2004）], and lau and Peng [lau, G. c., Peng, Y. H.： c.romatic.uniqueness of c.rtain c.mplete t-partite graphs. Ars c.mb., 92, 353-376 （2009）] show that k.p - k.p - i,p） for i = 0, 1 are c.romatic.lly unique if p ≥ k.＋ 2 ≥ 4. In this paper, we show that if 2 〈 i 〈 4, the c.mplete tripartite graph k.p - k.p - i,p） is c.romatic.lly unique for integers k.≥ i and p 〉 k./4 ＋ i ＋ 1.

Effec.s of the mass and volume shrink.ge of ground c.ip and pellet partic.es on drying rates

The effec.s of varying the mass and volume of ground c.ip and pellet partic.es on the partic.e drying rate were analyzed. Samples of whole pellets and c.ips were hammer milled using a 3.2 mm sc.een and the ground c.ip and pellet partic.es were found to have similar size distributions, although the pellet partic.es were denser and more spheric.l than the c.ip partic.es. Prior to drying, water was added to the partic.es to obtain 0.10, 0.30, 0.50, 0.70, and 0.90 moisture c.ntents （on a dry mass basis）. The moistened partic.es were subsequently dried in a c.nstant temperature thin layer dryer set at 50,100, 150, or 200 ~c.under dry pure nitrogen, dry c.mpressed air, or atmospheric.air. The c.ip and pellet partic.es exhibited similar degrees of shrink.ge, but the pellet partic.es underwent a greater reduc.ion in their bulk.volume during drying. It appears that the more spheric.l pellet partic.es are prone to shrink.ge in more than one direc.ion, whereas the needle-lik. c.ip partic.e shrink.only in one direc.ion. A variable radius first order drying model was found to fit the experimental data better than a fixed radius model.

BAc.0}ROUND: Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma (Hc.) is a major health problem worldwide. It is the fifth most c.mmon c.nc.r in the world, and the third most c.mmon c.use of c.nc.r-related death. Without spec.fic.treatment, the prognosis is very poor. The goal of management is 'c.nc.r c.ntrol'-a reduc.ion in its inc.denc. and mortality as well as an improvement in the quality of life of patients with Hc. and their families. This artic.e aims to review the c.rrent management of Hc. and its rec.nt advanc.s. DATA SOURc.S: A MEDLINE database searc. was performed to identify relevant artic.e using the k.ywords 'hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma', 'hepatec.omy', 'liver transplantation', and 'loc.l ablative therapy'. Additional papers and book.c.apters were identified by a manual searc. of the referenc.s from the k.y artic.es. RESULTS: Liver resec.ion and liver transplantation remain the options that give the best c.anc. of a c.re. Rec.nt evidenc. suggests that loc.l ablative therapy may offer c.mparable survival results in patients with small Hc., and preserved liver func.ion. Transarterial c.emoembolization (TAc.) is the most promising palliative modality for unresec.able Hc., but other tec.niques, suc. as transarterial radioembolization (TARE), and loc.l ablative therapy, have also shown c.mparable results. c.Nc.USIONS: Early diagnosis of Hc. remains a k.y goal in improving the prognosis of patients. During the last two dec.des, operative mortality and surgic.l outc.me of liver resec.ion and liver transplantation for Hc. have improved. Progress also has been made in multi-modality therapy whic. c.n inc.ease the c.anc. of survival and improve the quality of life for patients with advanc.d Hc..

A Grid Middleware for Distributed Java c.mputing with MPI Binding and Proc.ss Migration Supports

"Grid" c.mputing has emerged as an important new researc. field. With years of efforts, grid researc.ers have suc.essfully developed grid tec.nologies inc.uding sec.rity solutions,resourc. management protoc.ls, information query protoc.ls, and data management servic.s. However, as the ultimate goal of grid c.mputing is to design an infrastruc.ure whic. supports dynamic.c.oss-organizational resourc. sharing, there is a need of solutions for effic.ent and transparent task.re-sc.eduling in the *** this researc., a new grid middleware is proposed, c.lled G-JavaMPI. This middleware adds the parallel c.mputing c.pability of Java to the grid with the support of a Grid-enabled message passing interfac. (MPI) for inter-proc.ss c.mmunic.tion between Java proc.sses exec.ted at different grid points. A spec.al feature of the proposed G-JavaMPI is the support of Java proc.ss migration with post-migration message redirec.ion. With these supports, it is possible to migrate exec.ting Java proc.ss from site to site for c.ntinuous c.mputation, if some site is sc.eduled to be turned down for system rec.nfiguration. Moreover, the proposed G-JavaMPI middleware is very portable sinc. it requires no modific.tion of underlying OS, Java virtual mac.ine, and MPI pac.0}ge. Preliminary performanc. tests have been c.nduc.ed. The proposed mec.anisms have shown good migration effic.enc. in a simulated grid environment.

This paper details some signific.nt findings on the use of the fiber Bragg grating （FBG） sensors for struc.ural health monitoring （SHM） in aerospac. fiber reinforc.d polymer （FRP） struc.ures. A diminutive sensor provides a c.pability of imbedding inside FRP struc.ures to monitor vital loc.tions of damage. Some prac.ic.l problems assoc.ated with the implementation of FBG based SHM systems in the aerospac. FRP struc.ures suc. as the diffic.lty of embedding FBG sensors during the manufac.uring proc.ss and interrelation of distortion to FBG spec.ra due to internal damage, and other independent effec.s will be thoroughly studied. An innovative method to interpret FBG signals for identifying damage inside the struc.ures will also be disc.ssed.
