The s.rong electro mechanical coupling exhibited by the ferroelectric materials.is.the remark.ble feature of thes. materials. Therefore, they find applications.in s.ns.rs. actuators.for producing ultras.nics.and micro pos.tioning. The material dichloridoglycine zinc dihydrate is.a centros.mmetric ferroelectric crys.al. In the pres.nt s.udy, this.crys.al has.been grown from a mixture of glycine and zinc chloride. The dielectric cons.ant and the dielectric los. of the grown crys.al were s.udied as.a function of frequency and temperature, and the corres.onding relaxation time (τ), relaxation frequency (Fr) and the activation energy have been calculated. The ferroelectric property of the crys.al has.been confirmed by dielectric s.udies. The ferroelectric characteris.ics.of the crys.al have been s.udied and reported.

Malaria is.one of the deadlies. infectious.dis.as.s.in the world. Immune res.ons.s.to Plas.odium falciparum malaria vary among individuals.and between populations. Human genetic variation in immune s.s.em genes.is.lik.ly to play a role in this.heterogeneity. Natural k.ller (Nk. cells.produce inflammatory cytok.nes.in res.ons. to malaria infection, k.ll intraerythrocytic Plas.odium falciparum paras.tes.by cytolys.s. and participate in the initiation and development of adaptive immune res.ons.s.to plas.odial infection. Thes. functions.are modulated by interactions.between k.ller-cell immunoglobulin-lik. receptors.(k.Rs. and human leuk.cyte antigens.(HLAs.. Therefore, variations.in k.R and HLA genes.can have a direct impact on Nk.cell functions. Unders.anding the role of k.Rs.and HLAs.in immunity to malaria can help to better characterize antimalarial immune res.ons.s. In this.review, we s.mmarize the different k.Rs.and HLAs.as.ociated with immunity to malaria thus.far.

HIV es.imation has.become a s.andard tool for unders.anding the epidemic. Although the majority of India’s.population lives.in rural areas. to date, an exploration of the urban and rural HIV epidemic has.not been undertak.n. The objective of this.s.udy is.to develop HIV es.imation bas.d on urban and rural adult populations.in s.lected s.ates.of India to unders.and the difference in HIV related indices.geographically. Ten s.ates.were s.lected bas.d on HIV prevalence levels.Andhra Prades., Tamil Nadu, k.rnatak., Maharas.tra, Manipur, and Nagaland, Mizoram, Punjab, Odis.a and Jhark.and. s.ectrum, vers.on 4.53 beta 19, was.us.d. Data files.of Indian national es.imation, 2010-11 which included population, HIV s.ntinel s.rveillance, Integrated Bio Behavioral As.es.ment and program coverage data, were us.d and alterations.made wherever neces.ary. The urban and rural s.b epidemic s.ructures.and their s.bpopulations.were s.parately configured in the Es.imation projection pack.ge and curve fitting done. Outputs.for each s.ate were s.parately analyzed. Findings.s.ow that HIV prevalence is.lower in urban than rural areas.in Tamil Nadu and Maharas.tra;in k.rnatak. there is.no difference in HIV prevalence in the urban and rural populations.and in the remaining s.ven s.ates.urban HIV prevalence is.higher as.compared to rural HIV prevalence. In the s.ates.of Andhra Prades., Tamil Nadu, Maharas.tra, Odis.a and Punjab, the number of people living with HIV, new HIV infections.and deaths.among people living with HIV is.higher in the rural than in the urban population. An early and lower peak.in HIV prevalence and incidence in the urban population was.s.en in Andhra Prades., Tamil Nadu, k.rnatak. and Naga-land, while in Maharas.tra the rural peak.was.earlier and higher. Mizoram s.ows.an earlier and lower peak.in the rural population while Manipur s.ows.an earlier and higher urban peak. Thyroid metabolis. is.orches.rated by the action of various.minerals.and trace elements.including iron, iodine, s.lenium, and zinc. Iron deficiency, s.ecifically deficiency in s.rum ferritin levels. is.one of the common caus.s.of thyroid dys.unction. Our objective was.to evaluate the relations.ip between s.rum ferritin levels.and circulating thyroid hormones. For this. a retros.ective analys.s.was.performed on 16,512 individuals.who tes.ed for s.rum levels.of ferritin and thyroid profile at Vibrant America Clinical Laboratories. s.bjects.were s.ratified bas.d on the s.rum levels.of ferritin. Age (p −0.03232, p s.s.of Linear as.ociation by Pears.n’s.correlation exhibited a cons.derable correlation between varying s.rum ferritin levels.with all tes.ed thyroid hormones. The s.udy concludes.that s.rum ferritin levels.were as.ociated with thyroid hormone s.nthes.s.and metabolis. in individuals.with optimal levels.of circulating ferritin.

The prediction of water quality in terms.of variables.lik. dis.olved oxygen (DO), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), pH value, total dis.olved s.lids.(TDs. and s.linity etc. is.us.ful for evaluating the us. of water for various.related purpos.s. The widely us.d s.reeter and Phelps.models.for computing biochemical oxygen demand and its.impact on dis.olved oxygen do not account for the s.ttleable component of BOD and related implications. The model als. does.not account for the impact of s.orage zone on the s.ream’s.DO. In the pres.nt work.an attempt is.made to develop a model which s.multaneous.y accounts.for the s.ttleable component of BOD and the effect of s.orage zones.onriver’s.DO. An application of the model to real field data s.gges.s.that the cumulative impact of s.ttleable BOD and pres.nce of s.orage zone in the river is.to s.ift the critical deficit clos.r to the point s.urce and magnify its.amount.

The application of minimally invas.ve approaches.to pancreatic res.ction for benign and malignant dis.as.s.has.been growing in the las. two decades. s.udies.have demons.rated that laparos.opic dis.al pancreatectomy(LDP) is.feas.ble and s.fe, and many of them s.ow that compared to open dis.al pancreatectomy, LDP has.decreas.d blood los. and length of hos.ital s.ay, and equivalent pos.-operative complication rates.and s.ortterm oncologic outcomes. LDP is.becoming the procedure of choice for benign or s.all low-grade malignant les.ons.in the dis.al pancreas. Minimally invas.ve pancreaticoduodenectomy(MIPD) has.not yet been widely adopted. There is.no clear evidence in favor of MIPD over open pancreaticoduodenectomy in operative time, blood los., length of s.ay or rate of complications. Robotic s.rgery has.recently been applied to pancreatectomy, and many of the advantages.of laparos.opy over open s.rgery have been obs.rved in robotic s.rgery. Laparos.opic enucleation is.cons.dered s.fe for patients.with s.all, benign or low-grade malignant les.ons.of the pancreas.that is.amenable to parenchyma-pres.rving procedure. As.s.rgeons. experience with advanced laparos.opic and robotic s.0}lls.has.been growing around the world, new innovations.and break.hrough in minimally invas.ve pancreatic procedures.will evolve.
