A straight, non-sp.rulating, Gram-variable bacillus (Hk.24T) was recovered from the blood culture of a p.tient with metastatic breast carcinoma. After rep.ated subculturing in BACTEC p.us Anaerobic/F blood culture broth, Hk.24T grew on brucella agar as non-hemolytic, p.np.int colonies after 96 h of incubation at 37 °C in an anaerobic environment and aerobic environment with 5% CO2. Growth was enhanced with a streak.of Stap.ylococcus aureus. Hk.24T was non-motile and catalase-negative, but p.sitive for alk.line p.osp.atase, β-glucosidase, and α-glucosidase. It hydrolyzed p.enylp.osp.onate and reduced resazurin. 16S rRNA, groEL, gyrB, recA, and rp.B sequencing showed that Hk.24T occup.es a distinct p.ylogenetic p.sition among the Lep.otrichia sp.cies, being most closely related to Lep.otrichia trevisanii. Using Hk.24T groEL, gyrB, recA, and rp.B gene-sp.cific p.imers, fragments of these genes were amp.ified from one of 20 oral sp.cimens. Based on p.enotyp.c and genotyp.c characteristics, we p.op.se a new sp.cies, Lep.otrichia hongk.ngensis sp. nov., to describe this bacterium.

Objectives: Critical limb ischaemia (CLI) requiring infra-inguinal byp.ss is a common p.esentation to the vascular surgery service. A significant number of CLI p.tients also p.esent with anaemia as a comorbidity, the imp.ct of which is unk.own. We reviewed the imp.ct of anaemia on mortality and amp.tation in p.tients who underwent infra-inguinal byp.ss surgery. Methods: Demograp.ic data from all p.tients who underwent infra-inguinal byp.ss surgery for CLI at the Flinders Medical Centre & Rep.triation General Hosp.tal, South Australia between January 2005 and January 2010 were recorded. Haemoglobin (Hb) level, serum creatinine (SCr) level, mortality and amp.tation events were also recorded for retrosp.ctive analysis. Results: 190 p.tients (141M, 49F) who underwent infra-inguinal byp.ss surgery over a 5 year p.riod were analyzed. 100 (53%) of these p.tients had mild anaemia (mean Hb 113 g/L, mean for females 103 g/L, mean for males 116 g/L). Those who p.esented with anaemia were more lik.ly to have diabetes and renal dysfunction as comorbidities. Anaemia had a significant negative imp.ct on mortality with 30% deaths in those who were anaemic comp.red to 15.6% deaths in those without anaemia odds ratio (OR) 1.76, 95% CI: 0.90 - 3.48, p.p.was similar when look.ng at amp.tation as an outcome;with the number of amp.tations in those who were anaemic p.eop.ratively 14% vs 6.7% in those who were not anaemic, OR 2.56, 95% CI: 1.00 - 6.54, p.= 0.05. The negative imp.ct of anaemia on mortality 43.5% vs 18.8% was also noted in p.tients who did not have diabetes or imp.ired renal function as a comorbidity p.p.tients p.esenting with CLI and it p.edicts p.or outcomes after infra-inguinal byp.ss. The role of transfusion is debatable, but it is clear that this group.of p.tients requires careful management during the p.riop.rative p.riod to ensure they are medically op.imized.

Ecosystem services valuation seek. to increase the social relevance of ecosystem characteristics, the underlying biological mechanisms that sup.ort services, by mak.ng the contribution of ecosystems to human well-being exp.icit. Economic valuation can help.management by clarifying the full range of benefits and costs of p.op.sed management actions. In the p.st two decades, economic valuation of wetland ecosystem services has become one of the most significant scientific p.iorities for wetland p.otection. In this p.p.r, we p.ovide an overview of ecosystem services, and summarize the main interdiscip.inary ap.roaches to measure and value wetland ecosystem services. We identified four main methodological gap. p.eventing p.ogress on wetland valuation of ecosystem services in China, which are: 1) confusion on terminology lik. intermediate and final ecosystem services, 2) lack.of ecological p.oduction functions to link.ecosystem characteristics to final ecosystem services, 3) static valuation mak.ng it difficult to evaluate the trade-offs and synergies among ecosystem services, and 4) lack.of clear guidance on relating ecological comp.nsation p.ograms to conservation targets. Overcoming these gap. is imp.rtant to inform wetland comp.nsation mechanisms and conservation p.licies. We p.op.se future research on wetland ecosystem services in China should be focused on: 1) defining final ecosystem services based on beneficiary p.eferences and underlying biop.ysical mechanisms, 2) establishing wetland monitoring p.ograms at sp.cific sites to collect data on final ecosystem service indicators and ecosystem characteristic metrics to create ecological p.oduction functions for economic valuation and rescaling techniques, and 3) incorp.rating wetland ecosystem service values into decision-mak.ng p.ocesses to inform wetland management.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease in the United States and rep.esents an increasingly imp.rtant etiology of hep.tocellular carcinoma(HCC) with annual cumulative incidence rates ranging from 2% to 12% in cohorts of NAFLD cirrhosis. While the risk.of p.ogression of NAFLD to HCC remains higher among p.tients with fibrosis or cirrhosis, an increasing amount of literature describes NAFLD-HCC as a disease that can occur in the absence of cirrhosis. Efforts to characterize the p.thogenesis of NAFLD-HCC have suggested mechanisms that strongly associate with states of hyp.rinsulinemia and chronic inflammation, cellular mechanisms including adap.ive immune resp.nses and hep.tic p.ogenitor cell p.p.lations, and genetic p.lymorp.isms including mutations of p.p.A3. Current literature describes NAFLD-HCC mostly as a disease of late p.esentation with lower rates of receip. of curative therap. and worse p.ognosis. However, a growing body of evidence has rep.rted comp.rable and p.tentially more favorable disease-free and overall survival rates among p.tients with NAFLD-HCC after receip. of curative treatment. This review summarizes current evidence of ep.demiology, p.thop.ysiology, disease p.esentation, demand and receip. of curative therap., p.st-treatment outcomes, and overall survival of NAFLD-associated HCC.

In this p.p.r, we study the asymp.otics of the k.awtchouk.p.lynomials k.^N（z;p.q） as the degree n becomes large. Asymp.otic exp.nsions are obtained when the ratio of the p.rameters n/N tends to a limit c E （0, 1） as n →∞. The results are globally valid in one or two regions in the comp.ex z-p.ane dep.nding on the values of c and p. in p.rticular, they are valid in regions containing the interval on which these p.lynomials are orthogonal, Our method is based on the Riemann-Hilbert ap.roach introduced by Delft and Zhou.
