Co-existence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease: a review article

Emerging data have highlighted the co-existence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) and inflammatory bowel disease; both of which are increasingly prevalent disorders with significant complications and impact on future health burden. Cross-section observational studies have shown widely variable prevalence rates of co-existing disease,largely due to differences in disease definition and diagnostic tools utilised in the studies. Age,obesity,insulin resistance and other metabolic conditions are common risk. factors in observational studies. However,other studies have also suggested a more dominant role of inflammatory bowel disease related factors such as disease activity,duration,steroid use and prior surgical intervention,in the development of NAFLD. This suggests a potentially more complex pathogenesis and relationship between the two diseases which may be contributed by factors including altered intestinal permeability,gut dysbiosis and chronic inflammatory response. Commonly used immunomodulation agents pose potential hepatic toxicity,however no definitive evidence exist link.ng them to the development of hepatic steatosis,nor are there any data on the impact of therapy and prognosis in patient with co-existent diseases. Further studies are required to assess the impact and establish appropriate screening and management strategies in order to allow early identification,intervention and improve patient outcomes.

This research provides a survey of literature that contextualizes the research＇s aim of examining factors impacting students＇ aspirations and wealth expectations in Lebanon. To highlight Lebanese higher education students＇ youth＇s expectations of their future wealth, one should understand the four main factors that affect youth＇s hopes and aspirations： social, financial, cultural, and educational. Questionnaires are used to identify and assess how young individuals perceive their future wealth expectations. The developed surveys provide useful and reliable data to analyze the effects of many factors on wealth expectations and outcomes for youth. The collected information is of particular importance for identifying and assessing how factors shape wealth expectations and outcomes for youth. The samples used in this research analysis are restricted to college students only. The research findings shed light on the most crucial variables/factors that should be studied and analyzed. Once these factors are pinpointed and explained, a clear idea about higher education students＇ wealth expectations is formed. Short- and long-term expectations are tak.n into consideration and evaluated to formulate a basic idea about Lebanese youth.

The role of endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)in the last two decades has shifted from a diagnostic tool to an important therapeutic tool treating mainly pancreatobiliary *** recent years,its applications for treating pancreatic diseases have broadened,including the implementation of radiofrequency ablation(RFA),which has been traditionally used for treating solid *** this critical indepth review,we summarized all the papers throughout the literature regarding EUS-RFA for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms,adenocarcinoma,and pancreatic cystic ***,for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms we identified 16 papers that reported 96 patients who underwent EUS-RFA,with acceptable adverse events that were rated mild to moderate and a high complete radiological resolution rate of 90%.For pancreatic adenocarcinoma,we identified 8 papers with 121 *** events occurred in 13%of patients,mostly rated ***,no clear survival benefit was *** pancreatic cystic lesions,we identified 4 papers with 38 *** adverse events were mostly mild and occurred in 9.1%of patients,and complete or partial radiological resolution of the cysts was reported in 36.8%.Notably,the procedure was technically feasible for most of the ***,a long road remains before this technique finds its definite place in guidelines due to several ***-RFA for pancreatic tumors seems to be safe and effective,especially for pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms,but multicenter prospective trials are needed to consider this treatment as a gold standard.

Back.round: Glycogenic hepatopathy(GH) is a disorder associated with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus,most commonly type 1, expressed as right upper quadrant abdominal pain, hepatomegaly and increased liver enzymes. The diagnosis may be difficult, because laboratory and imaging tests are not pathognomonic. although GH may be suggested based on clinical presentation and imaging studies, the gold standard for diagnosis is a liver biopsy, showing a significant accumulation of glycogen within the hepatocytes. GH may be diagnosed also after elevated liver enzymes in routine blood tests. GH usually regresses after tight glycemic control. Progression to end-stage liver disease has never been reported. This review aims to increase the awareness to this disease, to suggest a pathway for investigation that may reduce the use of unnecessary tests, especially invasive *** sources: A Pub Med database search(up to July 1, 2017) was done with the words "glycogenic hepatopathy", "hepatic glycogenosis", "liver glycogenosis" and "diabetes mellitus-associated glycogen storage hepatopathy". Articles in which diabetes mellitus-associated liver glycogen accumulation was described were included in this ***: A total of 47 articles were found, describing 126 patients with GH. Hepatocellular disturbance was more profound than cholestatic disturbance. No synthetic failure was ***: GH may be diagnosed conservatively, based on corroborating medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, imaging studies and response to treatment, even without liver biopsy. In case of doubt about the diagnosis or lack.of clinical response to treatment, a liver biopsy may be *** is no role for noninvasive tests lik. fibroscan or fibrotest for the diagnosis of GH or for differentiation of this situation from nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Faecal incontinence(FI)is a debilitating common end result of several diseases affecting the quality of life and leading to patient disability,morbidity,and increased societal *** the various causes of FI,it is important to assess and identify the underlying *** investigatory tools are available including high-resolution anorectal manometry,transrectal ultrasound,magnetic resonance imaging,and *** review article provides an overview on the causes and pathophysiology of FI and the author’s perspective of the stepwise investigation of patients with FI based on the available ***,high-resolution anorectal manometry should be the first investigatory tool for FI,followed by either transrectal ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging for anal internal sphincter and external anal sphincter injury,respectively.
