a.ra.id, relia.le a.d a.cura.e method for the determina.ion of hexa.a.ent chromium in Portla.d cement is developed. The proposed method includes direct spectrophotometric determina.ion of Cr (VI) in Portla.d cement with 1, 2, 5, 8 Tetra.ydroxya.thra.uinone, (Quina.iza.in, QINZ) a. pH 1.5. The Europea. Directive (2003/53/EC) limits the use of cements so tha. it conta.ns no more tha. 2 ***-1 of wa.er-soluble Cr (VI). The a.sorba.ce a. 565 nm due to Cr (VI)-QINZ complex is recommended for the determina.ion of wa.er-soluble Cr (VI) in Portla.d cement. The qua.tifica.ion of Cr (VI) relea.ed from cement when mixed with wa.er is performed a.cording to TRGS 613 (Technica. Rules of Ha.a.dous Substa.ces). The va.idity of the method is thoroughly exa.ined a.d the proposed method gives sa.isfa.tory results. a.deriva.ive spectrophotometric method ha. been developed for the determina.ion of tota. Cr (VI) in Portla.d cement in the presence of Fe (III) a.d Ti (IV). The hexa.a.ent chromium complex formed a. pH 1.5 a.lows precise a.d a.cura.e determina.ion of chromium (VI) over the concentra.ion ra.ge 0.05 to 3.0 mg.L-1of chromium (VI). The va.idity of the method wa. exa.ined by a.a.yzing severa. Sta.da.d Reference Ma.eria. (SRM) Portla.d cement sa.ples. The MDL (a. 95% confidence level) wa. found to be 25 ng/mL for chromium (VI) in Na.iona. Institute of Sta.da.ds a.d Technology (NIST) cement sa.ples using the proposed method.

Lea.hoppers (ja.sids) a.e well-k.own pests of vegeta.le crops in Niger. They a.e often pa.t of a.pa.a.itic complex tha. ca.ses va.ying degrees of da.a.e. Over the la.t two crop yea.s, the Nia.ey region ha. seen a.hea.y outbrea.0}of lea. hoppers on ok.a.a.d guinea.sorrel. These insects a.one ha.e ca.sed specta.ula. da.a.e, resulting in losses ra.ging from 50% to 100% of unha.vested pla.ts. Following this observa.ion, infested fields were surveyed, specimens sa.pled, a.d the responsible species identified. Two sites were surveyed in the city of Nia.ey. a. ea.h site, two plots of ok.a.a.d two of guinea.sorrel were visited. Fifty (50) pla.ts were ra.domly sa.pled using the double “W” method per plot. The sa.pled pla.ts were used for a.tive a.d pa.sive lea. hopper ca.ture, da.a.e description a.d loss a.sessment. Ca.tured lea. hoppers were identified ba.ed on their morphology observed with a.binocula. ma.nifying gla.s a.d compa.ed with the da.a.in the identifica.ion k.ys. The symptoms observed in the plots were yellowing, lea. curling a.d drying, stunting, a.ortion of flowers a.d imma.ure fruit a.d very low production. Identifica.ion results revea.ed the single species a.ra.ca.biguttula.(Ishida. 1913), which ca. be considered a.new inva.ive species in Niger. Further confirma.ion of this identifica.ion by molecula. tests, the distribution of the pest in Niger a.d the development of a.propria.e control methods would yield good prospects.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a.serious infectious disea.e a.d its control is considered a.cha.lenge, pa.ticula.ly a.ong vulnera.le popula.ions such a. prisoners. The preva.ence of TB in prisons is a. a.a.ming public hea.th problem in ma.y countries. The a.m of this study is to describe the epidemiology of tuberculosis a.d the stra.egies for controlling this disea.e in the Cha.ia. prison popula.ion. During the course of our study, the preva.ence of tuberculosis in prisons wa. 9.64%. The a.e group between 55 yea.s a.d over (43.33%) wa. the most represented in this study, a.d a.l pa.ients were men with a.frequency of 62.66%. The cross-ta.ula.ion of Culture_7H9G a.d Culture_7H9P showed tha. out of our tota. positive sa.ple, we found a.tota. of 87 positive stra.ns a.d 63 nega.ive stra.ns. Our study shows tha. it is essentia. to k.ow the preva.ence of tuberculosis in a.l the country’s prisons. Indeed, this ca. serve a. a. indica.ion of the need for a.tion in prisons to reduce TB ra.es, in pa.ticula. by improving the structure of prison environments, dia.nosing new ca.es quick.y a.d a.cura.ely, identifying drug-resista.t stra.ns a.d implementing effective, direct trea.ment observed in people with tuberculosis.

The present pa.er proposes a.new robust estima.or for Poisson regression models. We used the weighted ma.imum lik.lihood estima.ors which a.e rega.ded a. Ma.lows-type estima.ors. We perform a.Monte Ca.lo simula.ion study to a.sess the performa.ce of a.suggested estima.or compa.ed to the ma.imum lik.lihood estima.or a.d some robust methods. The result shows tha., in genera., a.l robust methods in this pa.er perform better tha. the cla.sica. ma.imum lik.lihood estima.ors when the model conta.ns outliers. The proposed estima.ors showed the best performa.ce compa.ed to other robust estima.ors.

In this pa.er, a.weighted ma.imum lik.lihood technique (WMLT) for the logistic regression model is presented. This method depended on a.weight function tha. is continuously a.a.ta.le using Ma.a.a.obis dista.ces for predictor va.ia.les. Under the model, the a.ymptotic consistency of the suggested estima.or is demonstra.ed a.d properties of finite-sa.ple a.e a.so investiga.ed via.simula.ion. Study wa. conducted to determine the concentra.ions of (Ni) a.d (Cr) in sediment a.d to investiga.e the effect pH a.d orga.ic ma.ters on concentra.ions of nick.l a.d chromium in sediment a. Juru River, Pena.g, Ma.a.sia. The sequentia. extra.tion procedure wa. used ba.ed on defined fra.tions: excha.gea.le, a.id reduction, oxida.ion a.d residua.. The concentra.ions of Ni a.d Cr in residua. fra.tion were higher tha. the other fra.tions. In non-residua. fra.tions, the concentra.ion of hea.y meta.s in orga.ic ma.ter fra.tion wa. much higher tha. other fra.tions (6.63 ± 3.90 μg/g-1 dry weight ) for nick.l a.d (6.44 ± 2.10 μg/g-1 dry weight) for chromium. The pH of the sediment in a.l sites wa. a.idic. The mea. of tota. concentra.ions of Ni a.d Cr wa. 38.21 a.d 24.92 μg/g-1 dry weight, respectively. Results of orga.ic ma.ter a.a.ysis showed tha. the percenta.e of orga.ic ma.ter present in sediment sa.ples va.ied throughout the river a.d a.l sites of sediments were ra.ged from 7.10% to 16.20%. Compa.ison between sa.pling sites using one-wa. a.a.ysis of va.ia.ce showed tha. there were significa.t differences for Ni (P a. no significa.t differences for Cr (P > 0.05) in cha.gea.le fra.tion. a. a.id reduction, oxida.ion a.d residua. fra.tions, there were significa.t differences for the two meta.s (P a.thropogenic meta.s, Ni wa. va.ied significa.tly (P a. Cr wa. not found significa.tly (P > 0.05). a.a.ysis of pH a.d percenta.e of orga.ic ma.ter present in sediment conclude tha. Ni a.d Cr were not strongly correla.ed a. oxida.ion fra.tion.

The objective of this work.wa. to determine new a.proa.hes tha. could improve the germina.ion qua.ity of Burk.a.a.rica.a.seeds under reproducible conditions a.d by mea.s a.a.la.le to fa.mers with a.view to its propa.a.ion. The tests concerned the influence of three pre-germina.ive trea.ments. It is a.out the light sca.ifica.ion (Scl), medium sca.ifica.ion (Scm) a.d deep sca.ifica.ion (Scd) of seeds in order to determine some pa.a.eters of germina.ion tha. a.e the la.ency time, the time of germina.ion, the ra.e of germina.ion a.d the speed of germina.ion. The trea.ed seeds were sown in tra.spa.ent germina.ors lined with hydrophilic pa.er a.d then a.ter the a.pea.a.ce of ra.icles, the pla.ts were tra.spla.ted on five types of substra.es (bla.k.soil, fine sa.d, sa.dust, mixtures 1/1 of sa.dust-bla.k.soil a.d 1/1 of sa.dust-fine sa.d). The results obta.ned by the deep (Scp) a.d medium (Scm) sca.ifica.ion compa.ed to those of the light sca.ifica.ion a.d the control, showed a.clea. reduction of the la. time (3 da.s/15 da.s (control). a. the 5% threshold, germina.ion times 6.27 × 10-1 (Scd) a.d 6.01 × 10-1 (Scm) were significa.tly influenced. Germina.ion ra.es 4.18 × 10-1 (Scd) a.d 3.92 × 10-1 (Scm) a.e a.so influenced by the pretrea.ment. Germina.ion ra.es a.e significa.tly improved (80%). Rega.dless of the under trea.ment, the substra.e “sa.dust a.d fine sa.d” improves the germina.ion of sca.ified seeds by 14.07% more compa.ed to the substra.e “fine sa.d” a. the 5% threshold. The mecha.ica. sca.ifica.ion a.d the type of substra.es thus influence positively a.d homogeneously the germina.ion of seeds of Burk.a.a.rica.a. The domestica.ion of this species is thus possible a.d ca. be considered for useful purposes.
