Effect of organic component(tartrate) addition on cerium nitrate's ability to inhibit corrosion of mild steel in NaCl solution

Cerium tartrate（CeTar）,produced in this study by precipitating cerium nitrate with potassium sodium tartrate（KNaTar）,was examined as a corrosion *** loss tests show inhibition efficiency of 71.7% with Ce（NO3）3and 88.7% with CeTar inhibitor for one-month exposure to mild steel in 7 g/L NaCl *** inhibition efficiency drops to 28.6% with the fo rmer and remains around 8 7% with the latter inhibitor after six months of *** results from electrochemical testing indicate that the inhibition efficiency decreases by adding cerium ***,the cerium tartrate inhibitor demonstrates a nearly constant inhibition efficiency for up to 30 d,i.e.,≈90%.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS） performed in these cases shows the following results:（ⅰ） with cerium nitrate,a film of iron and cerium oxide,which on prolonged exposure diminishes,and（ⅱ） with cerium tartrate,the formation of a bimetallic film（Fe-tartrate-Ce） and a mixture of cerium hydroxide and iro n oxide that protects steel for a longer *** inferences are based on the analyses of scanning electron microscopy/energydispersive X-ray analysis（SEM/EDAX）,X-ray diffraction（XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）,X-ray photoelectron（XPS）,and Raman spectroscopy results.

Chemical leaching of coals would be required to produce cleaner coals for some special applications where physical benefi-ciation may not be effective *** would also help in recovering Li and rare earth metals besides in the sequestration of CO_(2).About 20 Indian coals having complexly distributed moderate to high ash contents were sequentially treated with various alkali–acid such as NaOH-HCl,HF,HCl,HCl-HF,and NaOH-HCl-HF *** aimed to establish and design the best stepwise sequential process for the highest degree of demineralisation through a chemical leaching *** and process intensification studies were carried *** than 80%demineralisation of Madhaipur and Neemcha coals was observed using the best sequential treatment designed *** repeated stepwise treatment of the alkali and the acid was also studied,which was found to significantly enhance the degree of demineralisation of *** integrated process of alkali–acid leaching followed by solvent extraction(Organo-refining)and vice versa of the treated coal was also studied for producing cleaner coals.

Drilling vibrations significantly impact drilling operations with high costs due to early downhole equipment failure and loss of productive ***-slip vibrations,a severe form of torsional vibrations,is known to be present up to 50%of total drilling time,making it a topic of immense concern and *** ongoing discussion in the industry is regarding the reliability of surface measurements for early detection of severe downhole bit ***,most surface measurements are sampled at lower frequency rates closer to 1 ***,the implementation of advanced data acquisition modules in downhole subs has greatly improved our understanding of drilling vibrations through high resolution data,sampled up to 10 ***,with a wide range of sampling frequency to choose from different available tools,a critical question remains *** is an optimal and adequate sampling frequency for early detection of downhole vibrations using both surface and downhole measurements?The paper addresses the question with a focus on stick-slip vibrations through an experimental *** slip tests are repeated for different sampling frequencies of surface and downhole measurements and the stick slip index for each case is *** stick-slip index varies for different sampling frequency even though the vibration tests remain completely *** was inferred that sampling frequency of measurements greatly impact the detection of downhole *** though stick-slip vibrations are characteristically low frequency vibrations(2Hz),a minimum of 10Hz sampling frequency is recommended for detection of stick-slip ***,all characteristics of stick-slip vibrations including bit sticking,bit RPM peaks and negative bit RPMs are clearly observed at a minimum of 100Hz sampling rate.

This study evaluates the effectiveness of phase change materials(PCMs) inside a storage tank of warm water for solar water heating(SWH) system through the theoretical simulation based on the experimental model of *** et *** model is explained by five fundamental equations for the calculation of various parameters like the effectiveness of PCMs,the mass of hot water,total heat content,and duration of *** study simulated eleven PCMs to analyze their effectiveness like Sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate(SHPD),OM 37,N-Eicosane(NE),Lauric acid(LA),Paraffin wax(PW),OM 48,Paraffin wax C_(20-33)(PW-C20-33),Sodium acetate trihydrate(SAT),Palmitic acid(PA),Myristic acid(MA),and Stearic acid(SA).Among all PCMs,the SHPD has found the highest value of effectiveness factor of ***,it is the most recommended PCM for the storage tank of the SWH *** study also includes the melt fraction analysis of all enumerated PCMs corresponding to container materials of stainless steel,glass,aluminum mixed,tin,aluminum,and *** melt fraction analysis is performed by making a coding program in the FORTRAN programming *** the analysis,copper container material is found to have high melting rate for all PCMs so it is superior to other container materials.

This research explores the integration of large language models (LLMs) into scientific data assimilation, focusing on combustion science as a case study. Leveraging foundational models integrated with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) framework, the study introduces an approach to process diverse combustion research data, spanning experimental studies, simulations, and literature. The multifaceted nature of combustion research emphasizes the critical role of knowledge processing in navigating and extracting valuable information from a vast and diverse pool of sources. The developed approach minimizes computational and economic expenses while optimizing data privacy and accuracy. It incorporates prompt engineering and offline open-source LLMs, offering user autonomy in selecting base models. The study provides a thorough examination of text segmentation strategies, conducts comparative studies between LLMs, and explores various optimized prompts to demonstrate the effectiveness of the framework. By incorporating an external vector database, the framework outperforms a conventional LLM in generating accurate responses and constructing robust arguments. Additionally, the study delves into the investigation of optimized prompt templates for the purpose of efficient extraction of scientific literature. Furthermore, we present a targeted scaling study to quantify the algorithmic performance of the framework as the number of prompt tokens increases. The research addresses concerns related to hallucinations and false research articles by introducing a custom workflow developed with a detection algorithm to filter out inaccuracies. Despite identified areas for improvement, the framework consistently delivers accurate domain-specific responses with minimal human oversight. Two-phase pipe flow occurs frequently in oil & gas industry, nuclear power plants, and CCUS. Reliable calculations of gas void fraction(or liquid holdup) play a central role in two-phase pipe flow models. In this paper we apply the fractional flow theory to multiphase flow in pipes and present a unified modeling framework for predicting the fluid phase volume fractions over a broad range of pipe flow conditions. Compared to existing methods and correlations, this new framework provides a simple,approximate, and efficient way to estimate the phase volume fraction in two-phase pipe flow without invoking flow patterns. Notably, existing correlations for estimating phase volume fraction can be transformed and expressed under this modeling framework. Different fractional flow models are applicable to different flow conditions, and they demonstrate good agreement against experimental data within 5% errors when compared with an experimental database comprising of 2754 data groups from 14literature sources, covering various pipe geometries, flow patterns, fluid properties and flow *** gas void fraction predicted by the framework developed in this work can be used as inputs to reliably model the hydraulic and thermal behaviors of two-phase pipe flows.

This work aims to present and explore thermal management techniques for the wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)of IN718 *** heat can be mitigated via air or water *** this study,the material was deposited under four different heat-input conditions with air or water *** air cooling,the layer is deposited in a normal atmospheric air environment,whereas with water cooling,the material is deposited inside a water tank by varying the water *** validate the air and water cooling thermal management techniques,IN718 single-pass and multilayer linear walls were deposited using the bidirectional gas metal arc welding based WAAM setup under four different heat input *** the deposition of single layers,the temperature profiles were recorded,and the geometric and microstructural features were *** multilayer wall structures,the mechanical properties(hardness,tensile strength,and elongation)were determined and assessed using the corresponding microstructural features explored through scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)*** microstructure observed through SEM analysis in the building direction was found to be nonhomogenous compared with that in the deposition ***,water cooling was found to govern bead characteristics,such as wall width and *** grain size and anisotropy of the mechanical properties also decreased in the water-cooled ***,water cooling is an economical and efficient method to mitigate excessive heat accumulation in WAAM-deposited IN718.
