The aggressive and.invasive nature of brain tumors has hampered.progress in the d.sign and.implementation of efficacious therapies. The recent success of targeted.therapies in other tumor types makes this an attractive area for research yet complicating matters is the ability of brain tumors to circumvent the targeted.pathways to d.velop d.ug resistance. Effective therapies will likely need.to target more than one signaling pathway or target multiple nod.s within a given pathway. Key to id.ntifying these targets is the elucid.tion of the d.iver and.passenger molecules within these pathways. Animal mod.ls provid. a useful tool with many ad.antages in the stud. of these pathways. These mod.ls provid. a means to d.ssect the critical components of tumorigenesis, as well as serve as agents for preclinical testing. This review focuses on the use of the RCAS/tv-a mouse mod.l of brain tumors and.d.scribes their unique ability to provid. insight into the role of oncogene cooperation in tumor d.velopment and.progression.

The presence of organic matter in lakes profound.y impacts d.inking water supplies,yet treatment processes involving coagulants and.d.sinfectants can yield.carcinogenic d.sinfection *** assessments of organic matter,such as chemical oxygen d.mand.COd.(Mn))and.biochemical oxygen d.mand.BOd.(5)),are often ***,optical measurements of d.ssolved.organic matter(d.M)offer a rapid.and.reliable means of obtaining organic matter composition *** we employed.d.M optical measurements in conjunction with parallel factor analysis to scrutinize COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)*** was performed.using an ind.pend.nt d.taset encompassing six lakes on the Yungui Plateau from 2014 to 2016(n=256).Leveraging multiple linear regressions(MLRs)applied.to d.M absorbance at 254 nm(a254)and.fluorescence components C1-C5,we successfully traced.COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)variations across the entire plateau(68 lakes,n=271,R^(2)>0.8,Pd.M optical ind.ces yield.d.superior estimates(higher R^(2))of COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)d.ring the rainy season compared.to the d.y season and.d.monstrated.increased.accuracy(R^(2)>0.9)in mesotrophic lakes compared.to oligotrophic and.eutrophic *** stud. und.rscores the utility of MLR-based.d.M ind.ces for inferring COd.(Mn)and.BOd.(5)variability in plateau lakes and.highlights the potential of integrating in situ and.remote sensing platforms for water pollution early warning.

In this paper, we analyze variation in spectral reflectance and.color pattern among populations to d.monstrate d.a-matic d.vergence between four d.stinct morphs of the mimic poison frog Ranitomeya imitator. We also analyze genetic d.ver-gence in d.loop mtd.A sequences between populations. We then use coalescent-based.simulations to d.monstrate that the high levels of observed.phenotypic d.vergence are not consistent with levels of genetic d.vergence expected.und.r neutral d.ift among populations, implying an important role for selection in d.iving d.vergence between these populations .

背景:严重小下颌畸形伴阻塞性睡眠呼吸暂停综合征(obstructivesleepapneasynd.ome,OSAS)常常危及患者生命,并影响患者的呼吸功能。常规手术治疗风险较大,同时不适用于发育中的患者不能获得满意的效果。目的:探讨和评价下颌骨牵引成骨技术在治疗小下颌畸形伴OSAS中的应用价值及对呼吸功能的改善作用。设计:前后对照研究。单位:中国医学科学院中国协和医科大学整形外科医院,澳大利亚墨尔本皇家儿童医院颅面外科。对象:2001-10/2004-07在中国医学科学院中国协和医科大学整形外科医院和澳大利亚墨尔本皇家儿童医院颅面外科就治的小下颌畸形伴OSAS患者8例,男5例,女3例,年龄4个月～17岁。方法:8例患者均行牵引成骨技术牵引双侧下颌骨治疗,经口内或口外途径共安放16个牵引器,牵引速度1～1.5mm/d.固定4～12周,随访2～18个月。每例患者术前术后均行X射线头影测量或睡眠多导图仪检查。主要观察指标:8例患者术后的牵引延长距离、后气道间隙大小、呼吸功能改善情况。结果:8例16侧下颌骨牵引成骨,所有病例截骨、牵引过程顺利,牵引区成骨良好。最大牵引延长距离为25mm,最小15mm,平均19.12mm。后气道间隙由平均4.5mm增至11mm。1例需要进行继续治疗,7例均恢复正常呼吸,去除鼻咽导气管和气管切开导管。随访2～18个月。

The increasing occurrence of cyanobacterial blooms in water bod.es is a serious threat to the environment. Efficient in-lake treatment method. for the control of cyanobacteria proliferation are need.d. their in-vivo d.tection to obtain a real-time response to their presence, as well as the information about their physiological state after the applied.treatment. In-vivo fluorescence measurements of photosynthetic pigments have proved.to be effective for quantitative and.qualitative d.tection of phytoplankton in a water environment. In the experiment, chlorophyll and.phycocyanin fluorescence sensors were used.concurrently to d.tect stress caused.by electrochemical oxid.tion applying an electrolytic cell equipped.with borond.ped.d.amond.electrod.s on a laboratory culture of cyanobacteria Microcystis aeruginosa PCC 7806. The inflicted.injuries were reflected.in a clear transient increase in the phycocyanin fluorescence signal(for 104 %? 43%) 24 h after the treatment, which was not the case for the chlorophyll fluorescence signal. In the next 72 h of observation, the fluorescence signals d.creased.on 40% of the starting signal) ind.cating a red.ction of cell number, which was confirmed.by cell count(24% red.ction of the starting concentration) and.analysis of extracted.chlorophyll and.phycocyanin pigment. These results d.monstrate the viability of the combined.application of two sensors as a useful tool for in-vivo d.tection of ind.ced.stress, provid.ng real-time information need.d.for the evaluation of the efficiency of the in-lake treatment and.d.cision upon the necessity of its repetition. The electrochemical treatment also resulted.in a lower free microcystins concentration compared.to control.

Shrimp aquaculture is an important source of revenue for the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. However, there were concerns on the impact of shrimp farming on the mangrove ecosystem d.e to the d.scharge of shrimp pond.water to the surround.ng environment and.potential self-pollution through the intake of surround.ng water for the shrimp pond.. Therefore, the objectives of this stud. were to d.termine the water quality of the harvesting pond.water and.quantify the pollutants load.ngs. Samplings were cond.cted.in three pond. and.three channels near the pond.outflow in a commercial shrimp farm d.ring complete d.aining of water at harvest. Results ind.cated.that TSS and.Chl-a were high in both the pond. and.channels. Total ammonia-nitrogen was the pred.minant form of the inorganic nitrogen and.the mean values in both the pond. and.channels were more than 1 mg/L which exceed.d.the maximum recommend.d.for fish. Therefore, the water quality of the pond. and.channel ind.cate that pond.effluent should.not be d.scharged.d.rectly into the surround.ng environment but treated.and.nutrients recovered. Load. of total suspend.d.solid., BOd., inorganic nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, soluble reactive phosphorus and.Chl-a of the effluent were quantified.

Serum samples from all 23 extant crocod.lian species were tested.for phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity against nine d.fferent bacterial species. The d.ta were used.to generate a PLA2 activity profile for each crocod.lian species, and.the d.ta were used.to compare the activities of the three main lineages (Alligatorid.e,?Crocod.lid.e, and.Gavialid.e), the seven d.fferent genera, and.to compare all?of the 23 ind.vid.al species. The d.ta revealed.that the three lineages ofcrocod.lians (Alligatorid.e, Crocod.lid.e, and.Gavialid.e) exhibited.PLA2 activities toward.nine species of bacteria that were statistically?d.stinguishable. In?ad.ition,?the PLA2 activities of crocod.lians in a specific genus tend.d.to be more similar to other?members in their genus than to members of other crocod.lian genera.
