With the expansion of urban, industry, and agriculture after World War II, eutrophication firstly emerged as a major water quality threat in small water bodies [1]. As the increasing magnitudes and scales of nutrient pollution and habitat alteration, many of the world's large lakes exhibit symptoms of eutrophication, e.g., toxic cyanobacterial blooms, deoxygenation, and habitat loss.

人类活动和气候变化造成到达地表太阳辐射降低(即辐射变暗)和水体透明度下降,两者共同作用深刻影响到水生生态系统水下光环境.全国116个太阳辐射观测站和839个日照时数观测站长期观测数据显示,2000年之后年均地表太阳辐射和日照时数比20世纪60年代分别下降了5.8%和7.9%,呈现显著下降趋势.与此同时,20世纪80年代和2006~2010年两次全国湖泊调查和历史文献数据分析发现,170个湖泊透明度平均值由1995年之前的1.80±2.19 m下降到2005年之后的1.28±1.82 m,遥感反演发现641个面积大于10 km2的湖泊透明度平均值由1985~1990年的1.26±0.62 m降低到2005~2010年的1.14±0.66 m.辐射变暗和透明度降低共同造成全国湖泊平均真光层深度范围内可利用的光合有效辐射量降低10%左右,并且透明度降低对湖泊水下光合有效辐射降低的贡献超过80%.文献综合分析进一步显示,全球湖库、海湾和近海水体均普遍存在透明度下降,水下变暗甚至变黑的事实,其势必深刻影响到水生生态系统各种物理、化学和生物过程以及生物多样性、生态系统服务功能和服务价值.

With climate change,the spotted-wing drosophila(SWd,drosophila suzukii)invades a great number of fruit production regions worldwide.A plethora of insecticides are being applied for management of this *** expected,SWd develops resistance against some potent insecticides or is rather insensitive to some ***,there is an urgent need to identify and characterize alternative insecticides to control SWd ***,we have studied the effects of the orally applied inhibitor of the fatty acid synthesis pathway spirotetramat on SWd fitness with respect to fecundity and surface barrier function at different *** our experiments,we applied spirotetramat mixed with baker's yeast and showed that females and males were not repelled by effective concentrations of this *** found that spirotetramat,by trend,lowers egg numbers laid by fed *** eggs rapidly desiccate,and only a few larvae *** is lethal to larvae and reduces survival of adult flies under low-humidity *** together,based on our data,we propose to use yeast supplemented with spirotetramat and additional SWd-specific attractants in traps in non-crop areas in order to eradicate SWd populations before they infest crop production sites.

HACEK organisms represent a rare but important group of causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, modern laboratory techniques have made this less common. In this case, we present a 74-year-old man who presented with acute onset altered mentation, fever, and sepsis. He was ultimately found to have Haemophilus influenzae meningitis, cerebral empyema, aortic valve endocarditis, psoas myositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteomyelitis. Although HACEK organisms are commonly found in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in humans, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. H. influenzae is responsible for approximately 0.16% of all cases of bacterial endocarditis, representing a very limited subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case demonstrates the unusual extent of infection from a HACEK organism, H. influenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute meningitis.

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide used for managing the Asian citrus psyllid,diaphorina citri Kuwayama,which serves as vector of phytopathogens causing citrus ***,development of resistance to neonicotinoids among populations of *** has coincided with occasional control failures in the *** objectives of this research were to(1)survey current levels of imidacloprid resistance in Florida citrus;(2)compare feeding behavior between imidacloprid-resistant and susceptible *** using electrical penetration graph recordings,and(3)investigate the possible amplification of insecticide hormoligosis associated with *** surveys confirmed that the susceptibility of *** populations to imidacloprid has decreased in commercial Florida citrus groves compared with a laboratory-susceptible *** 12 generations of selection,resistance to imidacloprid increased by 438 fold compared with the susceptible ***-susceptible *** feeding on citrus exhibited significantly more bouts associated with intercellular pathway(C),phloem penetration(d),phloem salivation(E1),and nonprobing(Np)activities than imidacloprid-resistant ***,there were no differences observed in the frequency or duration of phloem ingestion or xylem feeding between susceptible and resistant *** was no statistical difference in fecundity between resistant and susceptible ***,the fecundity of imidacloprid-susceptible female *** treated with a sublethal concentration of imidacloprid(LC_(25))increased significantly compared with controls,while such hormoligosis was less pronounced among imidacloprid-resistant *** results suggest that imidacloprid-resistant psyllids may cease feeding sooner than susceptible counterparts following sublethal exposure to this insecticide,indicative of a behavioral resistance mechanism.

The capital of Guinea, Conakry, faces a notable difficulty due to a water shortage, which is worsened by the rapid increase in population and urban development. The Guinean Water Company (SEG) faces challenges in supplying water to the entire city due to its limited area of approximately 420 km2 and a population of 2 million. Moreover, the population growth rate is anticipated to increase dramatically, exacerbating the difficulty of fulfilling future water requirements. As a result, this study employs data from the Knoema website and the Institute of National Statistics of Guinea (INS) to examine the water production and distribution process by the SEG. The study examines the challenges related to water scarcity in Conakry and suggests strategies to assist the city in managing the present circumstances and planning for the future. The primary objective is to get a long-lasting water supply and uphold water quality to advance public health.

Toxicity is the totality of adverse effects, which can be functional and morphological lesions in a living organism, caused by a substance introduced in relatively high single doses or in small, repeated doses. The aim of this study was to assess the OECd-recommended acute oral toxicity and anti-inflammatory activity of ethanolic extract of Ficus umbellata leaves. Animals were given a single oral dose of 1000, 3000 and 5000 mg/Kg body weight (BW) of the extract. For the anti-inflammatory activity test, rats were given the ethanolic extract of F. umbellata leaves at doses of 100, 300 and 500 mg/Kg or aspirin® at a concentration of 100 mg/Kg PC orally, one hour before injection of 0.05 ml of 1% formalin under the plantar fascia of the rat’s right hind paw. Paw volume measurements were taken one, two and three hours after formalin injection, using an electronic caliper. After 14 days of observation, no deaths were observed in treated rats. The Ld50 of ethanolic extract of Ficus umbellata leaf powder is greater than 5000 mg/Kg body weight. This extract has no significant effects on hematological parameters and on the main markers of nephrotoxicity and hepatotoxicity for a single dose of less than 5000 mg/Kg PC. It reduces formalin-induced edema. Evaluation of the percentage inhibition showed that the extract had greater anti-inflammatory activity at 3 hours after the start of the experiment. However, better inhibition of inflammatory oedema of the paw of rats treated with 500 mg/Kg was observed at 5 hours after the start of the experiment, with a percentage inhibition of 69.23 ± 1.02, compared with the reference group treated with aspirin® 100 mg/Kg, which showed an inhibition of 63.50 ± 0.98. These results show that F. umbellata leaves possess anti-inflammatory activity, which would justify their use in traditional African medicine to prevent or treat inflammation.
