Molecular characterization of secaloindoline genes in introduced CIMMYT primary hexaploid triticale

In order to widen gene germplasm for kernel hardness in triticale, 60 synthetic hexaploid triticales were tested by the single kernel characterization system(SKCS) and secaloindoline alleles were identified by sequencing. Phenot^ing showed that frequencies of soft, mixed and hard genotypes were 43.3%, 48.3%, and 8.4%, respectively. Genotyping identified three known secaloindoline-a alleles and four known secaloindoline-b alleles. Three new Sina-Rl alleles were designated Sina-Rld, Sina-Rle and Sina-Rlf. Compared to Sina-Dlc, Sina-Rld showed four point mutations causing changes in four amino acids, Sina-Rle had one point mutation causing an alanine to glycine substitution, and Sina-Rlf possessed five point mutations but produced the same amino add sequence as Sina-Rld. Two new Sinb-Rl alleles were discovered and designated Sinb-Rle and Sinb-Rl/. Compared to Sinb-Rla, Sinb-Rle possessed a triplet-code insertion and four point mutations causing a cysteine insertion and two amino acid substitutions, and Sinb-Rl/possessed three point mutations causing a cysteine insertion and a change of arginine to *** of hardness index with secaloindoline alleles indicated t±iat SKCS of the Sina-Rld genotype was significantly lower than that of Sina-Rle, and Sinb-Rle was significantly lower than that of the Sinb-Rld genotype. A total of eight allelic combinations of secaloindoline genes were identified; Sma-Rld/Sinb-Rle and Sina-Rle/Sinb-Rld were relatively prevalent in the triticales surveyed. The results provide valuable information for further use of these germplasms in triticale breeding program due to the diverse polymorphism in secaloindoline genes.

Alginate oligosaccharide(AOS)was enzymatically prepared and had a degree of polymerization(DP)of *** exhibited evident antioxidant efficacy in ABTS+scavenging activity,hydroxyl radical scavenging capacity,and total reducing *** freshness of the prawns,which were treated with AOS andε-polylysine(ε-PL),was evaluated by measuring indicators such as total viable bacteria(TVC),pH,total volatile basic nitrogen(TVB-N),sensory,texture,and melanosis during storage *** texture properties and sensory scores of prawns treated with AOS andε-PL were significantly improved(P<0.05)in comparison with the control ***,the increase in TVC,pH,TVB-N,and melanosis scores of prawns treated with AOS andε-PL were effectively delayed(P<0.05)in comparison with control ***,the quality of prawns treated with 8 g/L AOS was better than that of prawns treated with 6 g/*** could prolong the shelf life of prawns by 2 days at ***,AOS is a natural biological preservative in providing an effective and safe way to preserve freshness of prawns.

Design of non-noble metal electrocatalysts for biomass conversion to high-value chemicals and understanding the related catalytic mechanisms are of profound significance but have remained a major ***,we developed a novel biomass-derived electrocatalyst(denoted as Cu/NC),featuring with electron-deficient copper nanoparticles anchored on N-doped carbon nanosheets,for the electrochemical reduction of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)to 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan(BHMF,a vital precursor of functional polymers).The optimized Cu/NC electrocatalyst exhibited an excellent performance with high Faradaic efficiency(89.5%)and selectivity(90.8%)of BHMF at a low concentration of HMF(18.1 mM).Even at a very high HMF concentration(108.6 mM),the Faraday efficiency and selectivity of BHMF could still reach 74.8%and 81.1%,*** performance approached those of the reported noble metal-based *** study revealed that the N doping in the Cu/NC catalyst could regulate the electronic structure of Cu,strengthening the adsorption of the HMF carbonyl group,and thus boosting the selectivity of ***,strong electronic metal-support interactions of Cu and the N-doped carbon support optimized the charge transfer rate,thus promoting the dissociation of water to the active hydrogen(H^(*))species and boosting the reaction kinetic rate of H^(*)and HMF.

Soil salinization and water scarcity are main restrictive factors for irrigated agriculture development in arid *** dynamics of soil water and salt content is an important antecedent in remediating salinized soils and optimizing irrigation *** studies mostly used remote sensing technologies to individually monitor water or salt content dynamics in agricultural *** ability to asses different levels of crop water and salt management has been less ***,how to extract effective diagnostic features from remote sensing images derived spectral information is crucial for accurately estimating soil water and salt *** this study,Linear spectral unmixing method(LSU)was used to obtain the contribution of soil water and salt to each band spectrum(abundance),and endmember spectra from Sentinel-2 *** spectral indices and selecting optimal spectal combination were individually based on soil water and salt endmember *** estimation models were constructed using six machine learning algorithms:BP Neural Network(BPNN),Support Vector Regression(SVR),Partial Least Squares Regression(PLSR),Random Forest Regression(RFR),Gradient Boost Regression Tree(GBRT),and eXtreme Gradient Boosting tree(XGBoost).The results showed that the spectral indices calculated from endmember spectra were able to effectively characterize the response of crop spectral properties to soil water and salt,which circumvent spectral ambiguity induced by water-salt *** spectral index was a reliable indicator for estimating water and salt content,with determination coefficients(R2)being 0.55 and 0.57,*** to other models,LSU-XGBoost model achieved the best *** model properly reflected the process of soil water-salt dynamics in farmland during crop growth *** study provided new methods and ideas for soil water-salt estimation in dry irrigated agricultural areas,and provided decision support for gove

Pressure exerts a profound influence on atomic configurations and interlayer interactions, thereby modulating the electronic and structural properties of materials. While high pressure has been observed to induce a structural phase transition in bulk PdSe_(2) crystals, leading to a transition from semiconductor to metal, the high-pressure behavior of few-layer PdSe_(2) remains elusive. Here, employing diamond anvil cell (DAC) techniques and high-pressure Raman spectroscopy, we investigate the structural evolution of layer-dependent PdSe_(2) under high pressure. We reveal that pressure significantly enhances interlayer coupling in PdSe_(2), driving structural phase transitions from an orthorhombic to a cubic phase. We demonstrate that PdSe_(2) crystals exhibit distinct layer-dependent pressure thresholds during the phase transition, with the decrease of transition pressure as the thickness of PdSe_(2) increases. Furthermore, our results of polarized Raman spectra confirm a reduction in material anisotropy with increasing pressure. This study offers crucial insights into the structural evolution of layer-dependent van der Waals materials under pressure, advancing our understanding of their pressure-induced behaviors.

Two-dimensional(2D)anisotropic materials have garnered significant attention in the realm of anisotropic optoelectronic devices due to their remarkable electrical,optical,thermal,and mechanical *** extensive research has delved into the optical and electrical characteristics of these materials,there remains a need for further exploration to identify novel materials and structures capable of fulfilling device requirements under various ***,we employ heterojunction interface engineering with black phosphorus(BP)to disrupt the C_(3) rotational symmetry of monolayer WS_(2).The resulting WS_(2)/BP heterostructure exhibits pronounced anisotropy in exciton emissions,with a measured anisotropic ratio of 1.84 for neutral *** a comprehensive analysis of magnetic-field-dependent and temperature-evolution photoluminescence spectra,we discern varying trends in the polarization ratio,notably observing a substantial anisotropy ratio of 1.94 at a temperature of 1.6 K and a magnetic field of 9 *** dynamic behavior is attributed to the susceptibility of the WS_(2)/BP heterostructure interface strain to fluctuations in magnetic fields and *** findings provide valuable insights into the design of anisotropic optoelectronic devices capable of adaptation to a range of magnetic fields and temperatures,thereby advancing the frontier of material-driven device engineering.

Two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)have garnered considerable attention for their promising applications in sensors and optoelectronic devices,owing to their exceptional optical,electronic,and optoelectronic ***,the inherent high symmetry of TMD lattices imposes limitations on their functional ***,we present a strategy to disrupt the C_(3)rotational symmetry of monolayer WSe_(2)by fabricating a heterostructure incorporating WSe_(2)and SiP *** comprehensive experimental investigations and first-principle calculations,we elucidate that in the WSe_(2)/SiP heterostructure,excitons-both neutral and charged-emanating from WSe_(2)exhibit pronounced anisotropy,which remains robust against temperature ***,we observe an anisotropic ratio reaching up to 1.5,indicating a substantial degree of ***,we demonstrate the tunability of exciton anisotropy through the application of a magnetic field,resulting in a significant reduction in the anisotropic ratio with increasing field strength,from 1.57 to ***,the change in heterojunction anisotropy ratio reaches 24.8%as the magnetic field *** findings elucidate that the perturbation of the C_(3)rotational symmetry of the WSe_(2)monolayer arises from a non-uniform charge density distribution within the layer,exhibiting mirror *** results underscore the potential of heterostructure engineering in tailoring the properties of isotropic materials and provide a promising avenue for advancing the application of anisotropic devices across various fields.

Moiré superlattices based on twisted transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) heterostructures have recently emerged as a promising platform for probing novel and distinctive electronic phenomena in two-dimensional (2D) materials. By stacking TMD monolayers with a small twist angle, these superlattices create a periodic modulation of the electronic density of states, leading to the formation of mini bands. These mini bands can exhibit intriguing properties such as flat bands, correlated electron behavior, and unconventional superconductivity. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent progress in Moiré superlattices formed from twisted TMD heterostructures. It covers the theoretical principles and experimental techniques for creating and studying these superlattices, and explores their potential applications in optoelectronics, quantum computing, and energy harvesting. The review also addresses key challenges, such as improving the scalability and reproducibility of the fabrication process, emphasizing the exciting opportunities and ongoing hurdles in this rapidly evolving field.

We report in situ doping of brushite on zinc manganese oxide（ZMO）, fabricated by calcining a Mn（II） oxalate‐impregnated metal‐organic framework. The doping process was conducted in com‐bination with the photocatalytic water oxidation reaction which was catalyzed by ZMO in neutral phosphate‐buffered aqueous solution containing [Ru（bpy）3]^2＋‐Na2S2O8 and calcium（II） triflate salt, exhibiting greatly enhanced water oxidation performance with optimized turnover frequency of 0.18 mmol（O2） mol（Mn）^（–1） s^（–1）. Different analytical techniques indicated that photodeposited calci‐um‐phosphate（CaP） acted as a co‐catalyst to promote the O2 evolution activity of ZMO. This system involved the use of manganese oxide and calcium ion, and the operation was conducted under am‐bient temperature and neutral conditions, thus, it efficiently mimicked the oxygen‐evolving complex in photosystem II.
