Effects of High Plant Protein and High Soluble Fiber Beverages on Satiety, Appetite Control and Subsequent Food Intake in Healthy Men

Plant based proteins and fibers are attractive ingredients for weight management-dietary preventive strategies due to their positive satiety enhancement effects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of beverages high in plant-protein and soluble fiber on satiety, appetite, hunger and subsequent food intake in healthy young men. This was a randomized crossover study with 30 normal weight male participants, BMI 23.6 ± 1.6 and age 22 ± 1.4. Volunteers consumed one high carbohydrates control (B) and 3 treatments on different days with 3-day washout period. Beverages had similar viscosity and energy content (238 ± 3.8 Kcal). The blank contained (B)-0 g protein/2g fiber), High protein (HP)-30 g protein/2g fiber, High Fiber (HF)-0 g protein/11g fiber and High protein high fiber beverage (HPHF)-30g protein/11g fiber. Visual Analogue Scales VAS were used for subjective satiety, hunger and appetite. Subsequent energy and macronutrient intake was measured by difference after consuming lunch ad libitum. Beverages HP, HF and HPHF showed higher satiety effect than B after 2 and 3 hours post consumption (P = 0.02). HP showed the most prolonged effect on satiety (4 h) compared to the control (P = 0.02). Appetite control was not different between treatments but significant differences were observed against the control after 2 h of consumption (P = 0.01). No differences on hunger perception, subsequent energy or macronutrient intake were observed among all beverages (P > 0.05). The current study demonstrates that HPHF, HP and HF beverages led to improved satiety over high carbohydrate beverages. In conclusion, beverages formulated with plant-based proteins, soluble corn fiber or both may be an effective strategy to promote satiety as part of an overall weight management plan.

我国近年来沿海城市正在进行大规模的基础建设,建设项目普遍存在重建设、轻维护的现象。我国处于海洋环境的港口码头、桥梁等结构设施,钢筋腐蚀引起的混凝土破坏相当普遍。目前针对腐蚀环境下导致材料性能下降的结构损伤破坏已有一些研究,基于这些研究,本次工作利用集中损伤力学模型,将混凝土损伤开裂和钢筋的塑性行为以及腐蚀导致的钢筋横截面缺失这三个现象量化为三个内部变量进行力学建模。根据不同钢筋混凝土结构以及对应的破坏模式建立不同的单元及框架单元、壳单元和板单元进行有限元力学分析。通过给定的不同边界条件,来描述这些结构的力学行为。描述结构力学行为所需的矩阵包括位移矩阵、广义变形矩阵、广义应力矩阵和力矩阵。通过运动方程、平衡方程和本构方程将上述三个矩阵联系起来。在本构方程中,引入三个耦合的内变量及损伤、塑性和腐蚀来建立本构方程描述腐蚀环境下材料性能的弱化和结构力学损伤行为分析,并结合热力学公式建立三个内变量的耦合关系。值得注意的是,其中腐蚀是时间有关的变量。通过这三个耦合变量和三大方程来建立腐蚀环境下钢筋混凝土结构力学分析模型为钢筋混凝土结构全寿命分析提供系统的理论依据和力学分析模型。针对框架结构的力学模型已经与已有试验进行对比,模拟结果与试验结果吻合且计算效率相比于已有的有限元模型大大提高。所提出的壳结构与板结构的力学模型与以往的断裂力学模型相比更适用于多裂纹扩展分析。综上,本次提出的集中损伤力学模型更适用于实际复杂RC结构全寿命力学行为分析。

Background: This document includes recommendations and guidelines issued by a group of Mexican researchers and specialists gathered in the First National Colloquium for the Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Myeloid leukaemia (CMl) by initiative of Instituto Nacional de Cancerología and with the support of the leukaemia Department of the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Mexico lacks of updated information taken from its own reality on the diagnosis and treatment of CMl and other haematological disorders;besides, there are no national guidelines. Aim: To publish a consensus document with guidelines for the management of CMl adjusted to the national environment and overall characteristics. Method: The participants answered a DElPHI questionnaire about the overall aspects of the disease, aiming to target controversial topics, discuss them in the colloquium, and to agree on the best ones. After those meetings, a final document was drawn up. Results: The group presents recommendations for definition, diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, and treatment of CMl in Mexico. Conclusions: Having consensus guidelines for the clinical management of CMl in our country will enable the consensual practice of Mexican specialists regarding the clinical approach to CMl, as well as optimize the resources which allow the rational planning of the medical care strategies.

Post-translational modifications （PTMs） chemically and physically alter the properties of proteins, including their folding, subcellular localization, stability, activity, and consequently their function. In spite of their relevance, studies on PTMs in plants are still limited. Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier （SUMO） modification regulates several biological processes by affecting protein-protein interactions, or changing the subcellular Iocalizations of the target proteins. Here, we describe a novel proteomic approach to identify SUMO targets that combines 2-D liquid chromatography, immunodetection, and mass spectrometry （MS） analyses. We have applied this approach to identify nuclear SUMO targets in response to heat shock. Using a bacterial SUMOylation system, we validated that some of the targets identified here are, in fact, labeled with SUMO1. Interestingly, we found that GIGANTEA （GI）, a photoperiodic-pathway protein, is modified with SUMO in response to heat shock both in vitro and in vivo.

Interpenetrating polymers supported on microporous polypropylene membranes for the transport of chromium ions

Modifying polypropylene membranes with interpenetrating polymer networks(IPNs) through the incorporation of poly(glycidyl methacrylate-N-methyl-D-glucamine)(P(GMA-NMG)) was performed by in situ synthesis via radical polymerization. The surface of the polypropylene membrane was activated by hydrophilic grafted polyelectrolyte, and then, pressure injection was used for the impregnation of the reactive solution in the *** types of pore-filled membranes were synthesized, chelating interpenetrating homopolymer networks of P(GMA-NMG), and chelating-ion exchange interpenetrating polymer networks(e.g., P(GMA-NMG)/P(AA),P(GMA-NMG)/P(AMPSA), and P(GMA-NMG)/P(Cl VBTA)). After their synthesis, the modified polypropylene membranes were characterized using techniques such as the electrokinetic potential, SEM, FT-IR, and Donnan dialysis to corroborate the chromium ion transport. The P(GMA-NMG) and complex network membranes exhibited a hydrophilic character with a water-uptake capacity between 20% and 35% and a percentage of modification between 4.0% and 7.0% in comparison with the behavior of the unmodified polypropylene *** chromium ions were efficiently transported from the food chamber at p H 9.0 when the 65.2%MTA1 P(Cl VBTA) homopolymer IPN membrane and 48.5% MTAG P(GMA-NMG)/P(Cl VBTA) IPN membrane were used. Similarly, hexavalent chromium ions were removed from the food chamber at pH 3.0 when MTAG(63.30%) and MTA1(35.68%) were used in 1 mol·l^(-1)Na Cl solution as the extraction reagent.

Dengue is a global health problem without current specific treatment nor safe vaccines *** severe dengue is related to pre-existing non-neutralizing dengue virus(DENV)antibodies,the role of T cells in protection or pathology is *** cutaneous DENV infection in immunocompetent mice we previously showed the generation of PNA+germinal centers(GCs),now we assessed the activation and proliferation of B and T cells in draining lymph nodes(DlNs).We found a drastic remodelling of DlN compartments from 7 to 14 days post-infection(dpi)with greatly enlarged B cell follicles,occupying almost half of the DlN area compared to*24%in na?ve *** clusters of proliferating(Ki-67+)cells inside B follicles were found 14 dpi,representing*33%of B cells in DlNs but only*2%in noninfected *** GCs,we noticed an important recruitment of tingle body macrophages removing apoptotic *** contrast,the percentage of paracortex area and total T cells decreased by 14–16 dpi,compared to *** randomly distributed Ki-67+T cells were found,similar to non-infected ***69 expression by CD4+and CD8+T cells was minor,while it was remarkable in B cells,representing 1764.7%of change from basal levels 3 *** apparent lack of T cell responses cannot be attributed to apoptosis since no significant differences were observed compared to noninfected *** study shows massive B cell activation and proliferation in DlNs upon DENV *** contrast,we found very poor,almost absent CD4+and CD8+T cell responses.

Industry decarbonization requires the development of highly efficient and flexible technologies relying on renewable energy resources,especially biomass and solar/wind *** the case of pure oxygen production,oxygen transport membranes(OTMs)appear as an alternative technology for the cryogenic distillation of air,the industrially-established process of producing ***,OTMs could provide oxygen from different sources(air,water,CO_(2),etc.),and they are more flexible in adapting to current processes,producing oxygen at 700^(-1)000℃.Furthermore,OTMs can be integrated into catalytic membrane reactors,providing new pathways for different *** first part of this study was focused on electrification on a traditional OTM material(Ba_(0.5)Sr_(0.5)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3-δ)),imposing different electric currents/voltages along a capillary *** to the emerging Joule effect,the membrane-surface temperature and the associated O_(2) permeation flux could be ***,the OTM is electrically and locally heated and reaches 900℃on the surface,whereas the surrounding of the membrane was maintained at 650℃.The O_(2)permeation flux reached for the electrified membranes was~3.7 Nml min^(-1)cm^(-2),corresponding to the flux obtained with an OTM non-electrified at 900℃.The influence of depositing a porous Ce_(0.8)Tb_(0.2)O_(2-δ) catalytic/protective layer on the outer membrane surface revealed that lower surface temperatures(830℃)were detected at the same imposed electric ***,the electrification concept was demonstrated in a catalytic membrane reactor(CMR)where the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane(ODHE)was carried *** reaction is very sensitive to temperature,and here,we demonstrate an improvement of the ethylene yield by reaching moderate temperatures in the reaction chamber while the O_(2) injection into the reaction can be easily fine-tuned.
