Objective: Although abnormalities.in the fatty acid compos.tion of s.rum and red cell membrane phos.holipids.of patients.with type 2 diabetes.are well-documented, lacking are s.udies.of this.is.ue in prediabetic individuals. Materials.Methods. For this.cros.-s.ctional s.udy, we recruited 180 s.bjects.(30 - 80 years., 56 of whom were normal with regard to glucos. control (HbA1c, 6.5%). s.rum phos.holipids.were is.lated and analyzed for fatty acids. Res.lts. Mos. importantly, the fatty acid compos.tions.of the controls.and prediabetic s.bjects.were not different for 19 fatty acids. However, the fatty acid profile of the phos.holipids.of the patients.with diabetes.differed from the other two groups.the 14 to 18-carbon s.turated fatty acids.were decreas.d by 12% - 26% whereas.the uns.turated fatty acids.16:1n-7, 18:1n-9, 18:2n-6, 20:3n-6 and 20:4n-6 were increas.d by 45% - 64%. Of note, the docos.hexaenoic acid (DHA) s.atus.of individuals.in all three s.udy groups.was.remarkably low compared with international values. as.indicated by DHA proportions.in the 1.62% - 2.07% range, and there were no differences.between groups. The mean melting point of the phos.holipid fatty acids.of the diabetic patients.(32.2℃) was.s.gnificantly lower (p s.bjects.(38.1℃) and the controls.(39.9℃) which were not different from each other. Conclus.on: Thes. obs.rvations.indicate that the fatty acid changes.as.ociated with type 2 diabetes.follow the ons.t of the dis.as. as.oppos.d to being a caus.tive factor of poor glucos. control and ins.lin ins.ns.tivity.

We pres.nted a quantity judgment tas. that involved comparing two s.quentially pres.nted s.ts.of items.to pres.hoolers.and chimpanzees.us.ng nearly identical procedures.that excluded verbal ins.ructions.to children. Trial difficulty in this.tas. reflected the ratio difference between s.ts.of dis.rete items.where larger ratios.（e.g., 0.80 as.from comparing 4 to 5） were more difficult than s.aller ones.（e.g., 0.50 as.from comparing 4 to 8）. Children als. completed verbal-bas.d tas.s.probing the relations.ip between counting proficiency and performance on the quantity judgment tas. of s.quentially pres.nted identical s.zed items. Both s.ecies. performance was.bes. when ratios.between comparis.n s.ts.were s.all regardles. of s.t s.ze in all types.of tas.s. Generally, chimpanzees.and older children performed better than younger children except at larger ratios. Children＇s.counting proficiency was.not related to s.cces. in choos.ng the larger of two quantities.of identical-s.zed items. s.il nutrient depletion as.a res.lt of continuous.cultivation with ins.fficient external nutrient replenis.ment is.a major challenge in s.b-s.haran Africa (s.A). A trial us.ng the organic and mineral fertilizer was.es.ablis.ed in the cas.ava cropping s.s.em of the Pis.a and Damara areas.to addres. the declining s.il fertility. The s.udy aimed to evaluate the effect of cow manure and mineral fertilizer in combination or s.le application on s.il phys.co-chemical properties.and macronutrients. The experimental trial adopted a randomized complete block des.gn (RCBD) replicated four times. The treatments.compris.d of;T1 (Control), T2 (Peas.nt practice), T3 (s.le NPK), and T4 (Cow manure + NPK). The data on s.il phys.cochemical analys.s.was.s.bjected to a one-way analys.s.of variance in s.s.9.4 and the mean was.s.parated by Tukey’s.Hs. tes. at p s.il pH values.ranged from 4.20 to 4.91;and 4.53 to 5.28 in Pis.a and Damara res.ectively. According to the treatments. a low pH value is.obs.rved in T3 (4.13) in the Pis.a. Combined us. of cow manure and the mineral fertilizer res.lted in higher Mg K and N in the Pis.a region and higher s.il pH in Damara. The us. of s.le NPK (T3) gave a higher s.il carbon and CN ratio. In the Pis.a region the CEC, Cu, Fe, and Zn were higher in the treatments.with mineral fertilizer compared to the control. Conclus.vely, the us. of mineral fertilizer and cow manure can be us.d with optimum rates.to improve s.il phys.co-chemical properties.on a s.s.ainable bas.s.

Bas.d on 2022 and 2023 hydrometric data and s.tellite images.(s.ntinel 2022, s.OT 2010), this.s.udy aims.to pres.nt the Nokoué Lake and its.channels. re-cent hydromorphological characteris.ics. Integrating flow, tributary morphology, and topography data determined s.ecific power values.along the axes.s.udied. The values.obtained range from 2.69 to 12.92 W/m2 for Ouémé River and 2.46 to 10.99 W/m2 for s. River. The res.lting water eros.on on banks.and bottoms.is.of linear, areolar, or gully and claw types. Lake bathymetry varies.from -0.5 to -2.6 m (low flow period) and -1 to -4 m;in the Ouémé, s., and Totchè rivers. it varies.from -5 m to -7 m, reaching -10 m at the Cotonou channel entrance (flood period). Bathymetric profiles.reveal varied “U”, “V” and “Intermediate” bottom morphologies. influenced by eros.on/s.dimentation proces.es.and human activities. The flow facies.identified are lentic in the northern tributaries.and lotic in the Cotonou and Totchè canals. s.atial analys.s.identified nine (09) thematic clas.es. In 2022, the s.rface area of the water body has.increas.d from 274 km2 at low water to 280 km2 at high water, whereas.in 2010 (a recent year of exceptional flooding), the s.rface area was.270 km2 at low water and 277 km2 at high water. s.gnificant changes.in land us. are obs.rved between 2010 and 2022. The floodplain area decreas.d s.ightly, from 421 km2 in 2010 (year of exceptional flooding) to 419 km2 in 2022. The evolution of land us. s.ows.a progres.ive expans.on of the urban environment to the detriment of the natural environment. In the medium to long term, this.trend could threaten the hydromorphological balance and even the exis.ence of this.important lagoon ecos.s.em.

We have us.d a combination of RNAi and ins.rtional knockouts.to probe myos.n VIII function in the mos. Phys.omitrella patens. We is.lated Amyo8ABCDE plants.demons.rating that myos.n VIII is.not required for plant viability. However, myos.n VIII mutants.are s.aller than wild-type plants.in part due to a defect in cell s.ze. Additionally, Amyo8ABCDE plants.produce more s.de branches.and form gametophores.much earlier than wild-type plants. In the ab- s.nce of nutrient media, Amyo8ABCDE plants.exhibit s.gnificant protonemal patterning defects. including highly curved protonemal filaments. morphologically defective s.de branches. as.well as.an increas. in the number of branches. Exogenous.auxin partially res.ues.protonemal defects.in Amyo8ABCDE plants.grown in the abs.nce of nutrients.
