Ba.kground: This clinica. study eva.ua.ed the effects of sa.iva.y flow ra.e, a.e, ra.e, hea.th sta.us a.d medica.ions on the incidence of ca.ies. Methods:Ca.ca.sia. a.d a.rica.-a.erica. men a.d women (n = 501), a.ed 22-93 yea.s pa.ticipa.ed in the study. Stimula.ed (S) a.d unstimula.ed (U) pa.otid (P) a.d subma.dibula. gla.ds (SM) sa.iva.y secretions were collected. Stimula.ed whole sa.iva.(SWS) wa. collected a. control. Gla.dula. stimula.ion wa. a.hieved using 2% citric a.id a. 30-second interva.s to the dorsa. surfa.e of the tongue. Sa.iva.y flow ra.es (SFR) were ca.cula.ed by tota. weight of sa.iva.divided by 5 minutes a.d expressed in ml/minute. Corona. ca.ies were scored using the NIDR DMFS index. Ca.ious lesions were cla.sified a.cording to tooth surfa.es by a.ca.ibra.ed single exa.iner. Spea.ma. correla.ion coefficients were ca.cula.ed to determine the a.socia.ion between SFR with a.e a.d percenta.e of ca.ious teeth. Multiple regression a.a.yses were ca.cula.ed a. (p a.ia.les gender, ra.e, a.e, hea.th sta.us, medica.ion usa.e a.d sa.iva.y function were not predictors for denta. disea.e. a.ditiona.ly, these risk fa.tors were not risk fa.tors for missing teeth. Conclusions: In conclusion, cross-sectiona. investiga.ions a.e limited in their a.ility to identify the releva.t va.ia.les for disea.e prediction. In a.dition, clinica. a.d ba.ic science investiga.ions will be necessa.y to a.sess risk fa.tors for denta. ca.ies.

The wa.ps of the genus Polistes ha.e been considered the key to understa.ding the evolution of socia. beha.ior in Hymenoptera. Severa. studies ha.e shown tha. the development of orga.ized insect societies wa. a.compa.ied by the evolution of structures like exocrine gla.ds, which beca.e specia.ized to perform specific functions. This a.ticle investiga.es the ultra.tructura. a.d cytochemica. fea.ures of the hypopha.yngea. gla.ds of Polistes versicolor. These gla.ds ha.e been studied in depth in socia. bees, where they occur only in nurses a.d produce the roya. jelly. Our results＇ revea.ed tha. these gla.ds ba.ica.ly did not va.y a.ong individua.s or between sexes. They a.e constituted by spherica. cells, ea.h with a.la.ge nucleus a.d well-developed rough endopla.mic reticulum. Secretion vesicles a.e a.unda.t, but lipid droplets were not observed, indica.ing tha. these gla.ds ma. not ha.e a.role in pheromone synthesis. a.id phospha.a.e wa. detected in lysosomes, a.d a.so flee in the cytosol, but did not seem to be rela.ed with cell dea.h. Thus, our results suggest tha. the hypopha.yngea. gla.ds ofP. versicolor ma. not ha.e a.specia.ized socia. role, but could produce digestive enzymes.

Here, we review the involvement of regula.ory pa.hwa.s responsible for sperm motility, indica.ing possible ca.ses for sperm immotility. These included the ca.cium pa.hwa., the ca.P-dependent protein kina.e pa.hwa., the importa.ce of kina.es a.d phospha.a.es, the function of rea.tive oxygen species, a.d how the regula.ion of cell volume a.d osmola.ity a.e a.so funda.enta. components. We then discuss ma.n gene defects a.socia.ed with specific morphologica. a.norma.ities. Fina.ly, we slightly discuss some preventive a.d trea.ments a.proa.hes to a.oid development of conditions tha. a.e a.socia.ed with unspecified sperm immotility. Thus, a.combined modeling of the reservoirs involved in electric power a.d ga. systems a.d their loca.ions on both networks a.e essentia. fea.ures to be considered in the opera.iona. pla.ning of energy *** pa.er presents a.modeling a.d optimiza.ion a.proa.h to the opera.iona. pla.ning of electric power a.d na.ura. ga. systems, ta.ing into a.count different energy stora.e fa.ilities, such a. wa.er reservoirs, na.ura. ga. stora.es a.d line pa.ks of pipelines. The proposed model ta.es a.va.ta.e of ca.tures both energy systems synergy a.d their a.socia.ed networks. This a.proa.h identifies the intera.tions between the energy stora.e fa.ilities a.d their economic impa.t over their optima. scheduling. The results show the benefits of a. integra.ed opera.iona. pla.ning of electric power a.d na.ura. ga. systems, the close interdependency between the energy resources stored in both systems, a.d the effects of a.combined scheduling.

The a.m of this study wa. to a.sess the a.ility of Nile tila.ia.to ba.a.ce its own diet, when two ingredient mixes were offered, using ca.bon sta.le isotopes. In order to a.complish tha., 225 Nile tila.ia.juveniles （a.era.e initia. weight 5.0 g ± 0.5 g） were distributed in five ta.ks, ea.h conta.ning a.group of 45 fish. One group of fish were fed exclusively with a.high protein mix （HPM; δ^13C = -22.62‰）, the second one fed only with a.low protein mix （LPM; δ^13C = -14.34‰）. The other groups ha. free a.cess to both mixes （free choice system）. The fish from a.l ta.ks were fed four times a.da.. Muscle, liver a.d blood sa.ples were collected a. ea.h five da.s （from 2 fish/ta.k/collection） for 86 da.s, except for the fish fed with LPM （fed for a.120 da.s period）. The sa.ples were a.a.yzed in a.ma.s spectrometer a.d proportions of the mixes consumed were estima.ed through its ca.bon isotope enrichment （δ^13C）. Energy inta.e slightly decrea.ed a.ter the 50th da. a.d protein consumption increa.ed a.ter the sa.e period. However, consumption did not present a.clea. pa.tern in rela.ion to the individua. weight, i.e., protein consumption pa.terns a.e ma.nly rela.ed to the a.e of the individua.s a.d it is not clea. if it is a.so correla.ed to their weight. a.ditiona.ly, this technique a.lowed the observa.ion of differences rega.ding consumption a.ong the individua.s from the experimenta. group.
