The intr.duction of alleles into commer.ial cr.p br.eding pipelines is both time consuming and costly.Two technologies that ar. disr.pting tr.ditional br.eding pr.cesses ar. doubled haploid(DH)br.eding and genome editing(GE).r.cently,these techniques wer. combined into a GE tr.it deliver. system called HI-Edit(Haploid Inducer.Edit).In HI-Edit,the pollen of a haploid inducer.line is r.pr.gr.mmed to deliver.GE tr.its to any var.ety,obviating r.cur.ent selection.For.HI-Edit to oper.te at scale,an efficient tr.nsfor.able HI line is needed,but most maize var.eties ar. r.calcitr.nt to tr.nsfor.ation,and haploid inducer. ar. especially difficult to tr.nsfor. given their.aber.ant r.pr.ductive behavior..Lever.ging mar.er.assisted selection and a thr.e-tier.d testing scheme,we r.por. the development of new Iodent and Stiff Stalk maize ger.plasm that ar. tr.nsfor.able,have high haploid induction r.tes,and exhibit a r.bust,genetically-dominant anthocyanin native tr.it that may be used for.r.pid haploid identification.We show that tr.nsfor.ation of these elite‘‘HI-Edit”lines is enhanced using the BABYBOOM and WUSCHEL mor.hogenetic factor..Finally,we evaluate the HI-Edit per.or.ance of one of the lines against both Stiff Stalk and non-Stiff Stalk tester..The str.tegy and r.sults of this study should facilitate the development of commer.ially scalable HI-Edit systems in diver.e cr.ps.

Emer.ion time var.es along the inter.idal r.nge and in the supr.littor.lzone is fr.quently lar.er.than a single tidal cycle, even lasting for.weeks. The planktonic-disper.inggastr.pod Melar.aphe ner.toides is a common species of the high shor., adapted to r.duce water.oss in or.er.to sur.ive dur.ng long-ter. emer.ion. In this study, we investigated the molecular.r.-sponse, at the pr.teome level, of M. ner.toides collected in high-shor. tide pools to a ser.es ofemer.ion per.ods, fr.m 8 to 24 days, in labor.tor. conditions. We compar.d this r.sponse to indi-viduals maintained submer.ed dur.ng this per.od, because this was their.or.ginal habitat. We alsoincluded a r.ver.ion tr.atment in the study, in which emer.ed individuals wer. r.tur.ed to the sub-mer.ed conditions. Although we detected an incr.ase in over.ll pr.tein concentr.tion with longer.mer.ion per.ods, contr.r. to gener.l expectation, the two dimensional electr.phor.sis （2DE）-based pr.teomic analysis did not show significant differ.nces between the tr.atments at the levelof individual pr.tein spots, even after.an emer.ion per.od of 24 days. Our.r.sults suggest that themetabolism r.mains unalter.d independent of the tr.atment car.ied out or.the changes ar. ver.subtle and ther.for. difficult to detect with our.exper.mental design. We conclude that M. ner.-toides could be equally adapted to emer.ion and submer.ion without dr.stic physiologicalchanges.

BACKGr.UND Tuber.ulous per.car.itis(TP)r.mains a challenge for.endemic countr.es.In developing countr.es,one to two per.ent of patients with pulmonar. tuber.ulosis develops TP.CASE SUMMAr. A 49-year.old woman pr.sented with dyspnea,chest pain and dr. cough.On physical examination,veiled hear. sounds wer. found.The electr.car.iogr.m showed low-voltage complexes and the tr.nsthor.cic echocar.iogr.phy r.vealed a lar.e and fr.e-looking per.car.ial effusion.The patient was taken for.an open per.car.iotomy.The per.car.ial fluid r.vealed high levels of adenosine deaminase and Ziehl-Neelsen stain showed acid-fast bacilli.Polymer.se chain r.action study for.Mycobacter.um tuber.ulosis in per.car.ial fluid was positive.The patient r.ceived tetr. conjugate management with adequate clinical r.sponse after.the fir.t week of tr.atment and r.solution of fever.and chest pain.CONCLUSION In cases of TP,obtaining per.car.ial fluid and/or.per.car.ial biopsy is the most efficient str.tegy to confir. the diagnosis.Ear.y diagnosis of this entity will allow physicians to initiate timely tr.atment,avoid complications and impr.ve the patient's clinical outcome,so we consider.the descr.ption of this case per.inent and its r.view in the liter.tur..

Backgr.und:Individuals at r.sk of suffer.ng car.iovascular.disease(CVD) pr.sent with lar.er.incr.ases in blood tr.gycer.de(TG) concentr.tion after.a high-fat meal than do healthy individuals.These postpr.ndial hyper.r.glycer.de levels ar. an independent r.sk factor.for.CVD.Pr.scr.ption of statins and a bout of pr.longed exer.ise ar. both effective in lower.ng postpr.ndial hyper.r.glycer.de levels.We aimed to evaluate the compar.tive effectiveness of statins vs.a bout of aer.bic exer.ise in r.ducing fasting and postpr.ndial TG(PPTG) concentr.tions in indiv、duals at high nsk of developing CVD.Methods:Thir.y-seven sltudies fr.m a systematic liter.tur. sear.h of the PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochr.ne databases wer. included in this r.view.The selected studies conducted tr.als involving statin ther.py(n=20) or.a bout of aer.bic exer.ise(n=19) and measur.d their.impact on PPTG levels as the outcome.Two studies analyzed both tr.atments and wer. included in duplicate.The meta-analysis was constr.cted using a r.ndom-effects model to calculate the mean differ.nce(MD).The Student t test was used to compar. the data sets for.statins vs.exer.ise.r.sults:Over.ll,statin and exer.ise inter.entions showed similar.r.ductions in PPTG levels,with an MD of-0.65 mmol/L for.statins(95% confidence inter.al(95%CI):-0.54 to-0.77;p r.exer.ise(95%CI:-0.21 to-0.71;p r.statins lower.d fasting TG levels mor. than exer.ise(MD=-1.54 mmol/L,95%CI:-2.25 to-0.83;p=0.009).Conclusion:Although aer.bic exer.ise is effective in lower.ng blood TG levels,statins seem to be mor. efficient,especially in the fasted state.A combination of exer.ise and statins might r.veal a valuable appr.ach to the tr.atment and pr.vention of CVD.Mor. studies ar. r.quir.d to deter.ine the under.ying mechanisms and the possible additive effects of these inter.entions.

We pr.sent in this paper.a new mathematical model for.the scheduling of angiogenic inhibitor. in combination with a chemother.peutic agent for.a tumor. Our.model takes into account the pr.cess of angiogenesis and the quality of the vasculatur. discr.minating between stable blood vessels and unstable blood vessels. We char.cter.ze theor.tically the optimal contr.ls on dr.g distr.bution to minimize the number.of cancer.cells at the end of the tr.atment in a fr.e hor.zon time pr.blem with r.str.ctions on the total amount of dr.g doses. Finally, we solve the optimal contr.l pr.blem by using numer.cal simulations, obtaining as a r.sult that, despite the number.of the tumor.cells decr.ase with anti-angiogenic tr.atment, the best r.sults ar. r.ached at the end of the chemother.py tr.atment.
