Effect of Aerobic Exercise on Protein Expression in m.scle of Obese m.xican Adolescents: A Proteom.c and Bioinform.tic Analysis

The beneficial effects of exercise have been recognized for m.ny years yet the m.lecular m.chanism. by which exercise show benefits on health are still elusive. A com.ination of experim.ntal and bioinform.tics approaches can be an invaluable tool to increase the cellular understanding of the m.lecular m.chanism. that underlie the aerobic exercise in obese adolescents. m.scle skeletal proteins were separated by 2D-PAGE and changes in protein expression were revealed by Im.gem.ster 2D Platinum.analysis software. Proteins with expression changes after aerobic exercise were identified by com.arison with 2D m.ps from.SWISS-2DPAGE and interactions of proteins were analyzed with STRInG and DAVID databases. After aerobic exercise, all participants decreased glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, body m.ss index and waist circum.erence. Proteom.c differential analysis revealed 10 overexpressed proteins after aerobic training, which correspond to carbonic anhydrase III, beta enolase, creatine kinase, ATP synthase beta subunit, aldolase A, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, triosephosphate isom.rase, pyruvate kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and adenylate kinase. Exercise increased glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation pathways, which is likely to be regulated by ubiquitin c protein. In conclusion, our analysis suggested that obese adolescents show changes in their body m.ss index, waist circum.erence and serum.glucose after aerobic exercise through im.roved protein expression patterns that aid, especially, glucose m.tabolism.and increase the oxidative phosphorylation. The m.st likely explanation for the observed pattern is that ubiquitin c protein keeps the glycolytic enzym.s bound within skeletal m.scle, obtaining a non-degradative role in cell signaling.

This study quantifies seism.c am.lifications in near-shore arising from.seaquakes. Within the Boundary Elem.nt m.thod, boundary elem.nts are used to irradiate waves and force densities obtained for each elem.nt. Huygens′ Principle is im.lem.nted since the diffracted waves are constructed at the boundary from.which they are radiated, which is equivalent to Som.gliana′s theorem. Application of boundary conditions leads to a system.of integral equations of the Fredholm.type of second kind and zero order. Several num.rical configurations are analyzed： The first is used to verify the present form.lation with ideal sea floor configurations to estim.te seism.c am.lifications. With the form.lation verified, sim.le slope configurations are studied to estim.te spectra of seism.c m.tions. It is found that P-waves can produce seism.c am.lifications from.1.2 to 3.9 tim.s the am.litude of the incident wave. SV-waves can generate seism.c am.lifications up to 4.5 tim.s the incident wave. Another relevant finding is that the highest am.lifications are at the shore com.ared to the ones at the sea floor.

Shade shelters increase survival and photosynthetic perform.nce of oak transplants at abandoned fields in sem.-arid clim.tes

Forest restorations conducted in sem.arid, seasonally dry clim.tes m.st deal with the intense drought stress that affects tree seedlings during the dry season. Although this water deficit is the m.st com.only invoked source of m.rtality for seedlings, several other environm.ntal factors m.y also preclude survival of transplants. For instance, it has been widely reported that excessive light reduces the efficiency of the photosynthetic apparatus, hence decreasing plant survival, but m.st seedling transplants in deforested areas are conducted under these light conditions. This study is focused in determ.ning whether excessive light affects the photosynthetic perform.nce and survival of Quercus coccolobifolia, a m.xican oak species, when their seedlings are transplanted in sem.arid deforested areas. Further, this study tests the possibility of using artificial shade shelters to im.rove the ecophysiological perform.nce and survival of seedlings. Oak seedlings were transplanted under full sunlight conditions and beneath artificial shade shelters of two different colors： white and black. To reduce water stress, and hence isolate the effects of light treatm.nts, a drip irrigation system.was im.lem.nted at each experim.ntal plot. Seedling survival was m.nitored weekly for 128 days and photosynthetic perform.nce was assessed by m.asuring chlorophyll fluorescence at three opportunities during the experim.nt. Sun-exposed seedlings showed lower photosynthetic perform.nce and survival rates than those beneath shelters of both colors. These results suggest that sunlight dam.ge can reduce seedling survival when they are transplanted in exposed sites, and that shade shelters can im.rove the success of forest restoration program. in sem.arid clim.tes.

Sleeve gastrectom.(SG) is a restrictive bariatric surgery technique that was first used as part of restrictive horizontal gastrectom. in the original Scopinaro type biliopancreatic diversion. Its good results as a single technique have led to a rise in its use, and it is currently the second m.st perform.d technique worldwide. SG achieves clearly better results than other restrictive techniques and is com.arable in som. aspects to the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the current gold standard in bariatric surgery. These benefits have been associated with different pathophysiologic m.chanism. unrelated to weight loss such as increased gastric em.tying and intestinal transit, and activation of horm.nal m.chanism. such as increased GLP-1 horm.ne and decreased ghrelin. The aim.of this review was to highlight the salient aspects of SG regarding its historical evolution, pathophysiologic m.chanism., m.in results, clinical applications and perioperative com.lications.

Subclinical cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes m.llitus: To screen or not to screen

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes m.llitus(T2Dm. has risen in recent decades, and cardiovascular disease rem.ins the leading cause of death in this population. Several clinical trials have dem.nstrated the benefit of tight control of risk factors on the incidence and m.rtality of cardiovascular disease. However, in clinical practice, few patients achieve the therapeutic goals. The current diagnostic procedures for subclinical cardiovascular disease in T2 Dm.patients have not been shown to im.rove prognosis or m.rtality, probably because they do not categorize cardiovascular risk. Thus, clinical practice guidelines do not system.tically recom.end screening for subclinical atherosclerosis in these patients, although it is known that patients with extracoronary atherosclerosis, m.croangiopathy and poorlycontrolled cardiovascular risk factors are at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Im.rovem.nts in the reliability of diagnostic tests, with fewer side effects and better cost efficiency, m.y better help to stratify cardiovascular risk in this group of patients, and further evaluation on this topic should be considered.

The aim.of this study was to analyse air exchange and tem.erature distribution in a greenhouse with com.ined m.chanical and natural ventilation and to design m.re efficient m.chanical ventilation *** this purpose,a com.utational fluid dynam.cs(CFD)m.del of the greenhouse was *** configurations were considered:Configuration 1(m.chanical ventilation and closed roof ventilators),Configurations 2 and 3(m.chanical ventilation and roof ventilators open 30%and 100%,respectively).After validation,the CFD m.del was used to im.rove the design of the greenhouse m.chanical ventilation system.in each of the three configurations *** greenhouse lengths,28 m.50 m.75 m.and 100 m.were used in the *** to fan ventilation only,roof ventilation im.roved the clim.te of fan-ventilated greenhouses in term. of the air exchange rate(22%)and clim.te uniform.ty because the internal air was m.xed better than with m.chanical ventilation *** the greenhouse length increased,m.re advantages were achieved with natural ventilation com.ared to m.chanical *** m.st configurations,there was a strong linear correlation between tem.erature gradient and greenhouse *** greenhouse whose regression line had the steepest slope was the one with closed roof *** the fan capacity produced a general reduction in tem.erature,but the effect was less intense for the greenhouses with open roof *** to box inlet ventilators,an enlarged continuous inlet in the wall opposite the fans increased overall system.perform.nce because it elim.nated backflow recirculation zones,which are prone to produce high tem.eratures.

Hypothalam.c-pituitary-adrenal axis function during perinatal depression

Abnorm.l function of the hypothalam.c-pituitary-adrenal （HPA） axis is an im.ortant pathological finding in pregnant wom.n exhibiting m.jor depressive disorder. They show high levels of cortisol pro- inflam.atory cytokines, hypothalam.c-pituitary peptide horm.nes and catecholam.nes, along with low dehydroepiandrosterone levels in plasm.. During pregnancy, the TH2 balance together with the im.une system.and placental factors play crucial roles in the developm.nt of the fetal allograft to full term. These factors, when altered, m.y generate a persistent dysfunction of the HPA axis that m.y lead to an overt transfer of cortisol and toxicity to the fetus at the expense of reduced activity of placental 1113-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2. Epigenetic m.difications also m.y contribute to the dysregulation of the HPA axis. Affective disorders in pregnant wom.n should be taken seriously, and therapies focused on preventing the deleterious effects of stressors should be im.lem.nted to prom.te the welfare of both m.ther and baby.

To explore the effect of strontium.on the structure of as-cast A356 alloy, the strontium.was incorporated to the alloy by m.tallotherm.c reduction of SrO where the m.neral was added to the m.lt through the subm.rged powders injection technique. The evaluation of the m.dification of the eutectie silicon and the chem.cal analysis of sam.les were done using optical m.croscopy （OP） and inductively coupled plasm. （ICP）, respectively, while m.crostructural analyses by scanning electron m.croscopy （SEm., and the injection tim. was variable. m.gnesium.was added to the m.lt to increase the reactivity and reduce the surface tension of the m.lten alum.num. It was possible to increase the strontium.content from.0 to 0.027% after 20 m.nutes treatm.nt. This concentration was sufficient to bring about full m.dification structure of eutectic silicon of as cast alloy A 356 and the acceptable quality m.tallurgical of alloy.
