Durable Ru Nanocrystal with HfO_(2)Modification for Acidic Overall Water Splitting

Durable and efficient bi-functional catalyst,that is capable of both oxygen evolution reaction and hydrogen evolution reaction under acidic condition,are highly desired for the commercialization of proton exchange membrane water electrolysis.Herein,we report a robust L-Ru/HfO_(2)heterostructure constructed via confining crystalline Ru nanodomains by HfO_(2)matrix.When assembled with a proton exchange membrane,the bi-functional L-Ru/HfO_(2)catalyst-based electrolyzer presents a voltage of 1.57 and 1.67 V to reach 100 and 300 mA cm^(-2)current density,prevailing most of previously reported Ru-based materials as well as commercial Pt/C||RuO_(2)electrolyzer.It is revealed that the synergistic effect of HfO_(2)modification and small crystalline domain formation significantly alleviates the over-oxidation of Ru.More importantly,this synergistic effect facilitates a dual-site oxide path during the oxygen evolution procedure via optimization of the binding configurations of oxygenated adsorbates.As a result,the Ru active sites maintain the metallic state along with reduced energy barrier for the rate-determining step(*O→*OOH).Both of water adsorption and dissociation(Volmer step)are strengthened,while a moderate hydrogen binding is achieved to accelerate the hydrogen desorption procedure(Tafel step).Consequently,the activity and stability of acidic overall water splitting are simultaneously enhanced.

The symmetric space,strong isotropy irreducibility and equigeodesic properties

A smooth curve on a homogeneous manifold G/H is called a Riemannian equigeodesic if it is a homogeneous geodesic for any G-invariant Riemannian metric.The homogeneous manifold G/H is called Riemannian equigeodesic,if for any x∈G/H and any nonzero y∈Tx(G/H),there exists a Riemannian equigeodesic c(t) with c(0)=x and ■(0)=y.These two notions can be naturally transferred to the Finsler setting,which provides the definitions for Finsler equigeodesics and Finsler equigeodesic spaces.We prove two classification theorems for Riemannian equigeodesic spaces and Finsler equigeodesic spaces,respectively.Firstly,a homogeneous manifold G/H with a connected simply connected quasi compact G and a connected H is Riemannian equigeodesic if and only if it can be decomposed as a product of Euclidean factors and compact strongly isotropy irreducible factors.Secondly,a homogeneous manifold G/H with a compact semisimple G is Finsler equigeodesic if and only if it can be locally decomposed as a product,in which each factor is Spin(7)/G2,G2/SU (3) or a symmetric space of compact type.These results imply that the symmetric space and the strongly isotropy irreducible space of compact type can be interpreted by equigeodesic properties.As an application,we classify the homogeneous manifold G/H with a compact semisimple G such that all the G-invariant Finsler metrics on G/H are Berwald.It suggests a new project in homogeneous Finsler geometry,i.e.,to systematically study the homogeneous manifold G/H on which all the G-invariant Finsler metrics satisfy a certain geometric property.

Personalized treatment of well-differentiated gastric neuroendocrine tumors based on clinicopathological classification and grading:A multicenter retrospective study

Background:The incidence of well-differentiated gastric neuroendocrine tumors(G-NET)is increasing annually,and while they have a good prognosis and low mortality rate,their high recurrence rate makes treatment options controversial.This study aims to determine the relationship between individualized treatment plans and the recurrence of G-NET.Methods:We performed a multicenter,retrospective study of 94 patients with highly differentiated G-NET and treated at Peking Union Medical College Hospital,Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital,and Beijing Zhong-Neng-Jian Hospital from November 2015 to September 2023.Risk factors for recurrence of G-NETs were investigated using chi-squared test and multifactorial logistic regression analysis.Results:After a median follow-up of 49 months,the overall recurrence rate among the 94 G-NET patients was 14%(13/94).The recurrence rates of endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR),endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD),somatostatin analog(SSA)therapy,and surgery were 43%(6/14),10%(5/49),5%(1/22),and 11%(1/9),respectively.Post-treatment recurrence rates were significantly different(P=0.014)among four treatments(EMR,ESD,SSA,and surgery),and further subgroup comparisons revealed lower recurrence rates in the ESD and SSA groups than in the EMR group.From the second month onward,SSA therapy considerably reduced the gastrin levels from 1081.0(571.5,2472.8)pg/mL to 461.5(255.3,795.0)pg/mL(Z=-3.521,P<0.001).Both chi-squared test and multifactorial logistic regression analysis suggested that among the clinicopathological parameters studied,only the pre-treatment gastrin level(P=0.018 and 0.005)and the type of treatment(P=0.014 and 0.017)were significantly associated with G-NET recurrence.Conclusions:Individualized treatment strategies may reduce the risk of relapse after G-NET treatment.Long-term SSA therapy may be a secure and efficacious treatment option for type 1 G-NET with more than six lesions,and it substantially decreases the incidence of post-treatment recurrence.

Spermatogenesis, maturation, capacitation and fertilization are precisely regulated by glycosylation. However, the relationship between altered glycosylation patterns and the onset and development of reproductive disorders is unclear, mainly limited by the lack of in situ imaging techniques for spermatozoa glycosylation. We developed an efficient and highly specific spermatozoa glycan imaging technique based on the robust chemoselective labeling of sialic acid(Sia) and N-acetyl-D-galactosamine(Gal/GalNAc). We further proposed a “tandem glycan chemoselective labeling” strategy to achieve simultaneous imaging of two types of glycans on spermatozoa. We applied the developed method to the spermatozoa from oligozoospermic patients and diabetic mice and found that these spermatozoa showed higher levels of Sia and Gal/Gal NAc expression than the normal groups. Moreover, spermatozoa from diabetic mice showed a severe decrease in number, viability, and forward motility, suggesting that in vivo glucose metabolism disorders may lead to an elevated level of spermatozoa glycosylation and have a correlation with the development of oligoasthenotspermia. Our work provides a research tool to reveal the relationship between glycosylation modification and spermatozoa quality, and a promising clue for the development of glycan-based reproductive markers.

An investigation on topologies of hybrid manifold,impinging-jet nozzle and micro-pin-fin heat sinks

The hybrid manifold micro-pin-fin(MMPF)heat sink combined nozzle jets is an option for large-scale integrated circuits(LSI).The demond for uniform and ultra-high heat flux removal by MMPF heat sink has not been adequately investigated.This work aims to solve the problem of fluid organization.The proposed basic tiling topologies,including square,regular hexagon,30°rhombus,and 60°rhombus topologies,provide different organized fluid flows and heat transfer patterns.The present study focuses on comparing these topologies according to independent porous medium parameters,such as nozzle pore size D_(Z),flow pore size D_(X,Y),and porosityε.The results show that the square topology achieves the smallest total thermal resistance R_(tot)value of0.0975×10^(-4)K m^2/W,while the hexagon topology achieved the highest value of COP/?T,which was 2033.9 K^(-1).According to the sensitivity analysis results,the optimal total thermal resistance can be obtained by balancing the influences of nozzle pore size,flow pore size,and porosity.The optimal pressure drop can be obtained by maximizing the porosity.

Protective Graphite Coating for Two-Dimensional Carbon/Carbon Composites

Two-dimensional carbon/carbon(2D C/C)composites are a special class of carbon/carbon composites,generally obtained by combining resin-impregnated carbon fiber clothes,which are then cured and carbonized.This study deals with the preparation of a protective coating for these materials.This coating,based on graphite,was prepared by the slurry method.The effect of graphite and phenolic resin powders with different weight ratios was examined.The results have shown that the coating slurry can fill the pores and cracks of the composite surface,thereby densifying the surface layer of the material.With the increase of the graphite powder/phenolic resin weight ratio,the coating density is enhanced while the coating surface flatness decreases;moreover,the protective ability of coating against erosion first increases(from 1:3 to 2:2)and then decreases(from 2:2 to 3:1).When the weight ratio is about 1:1,the coating for 2D C/C composites exhibits the best erosion resistance,which greatly aids these materials during gas quenching.In this case,the erosion rate is decreased by approximately 41.5%at the impact angle of 30°and 52.3%at normal impact,respectively.This can be attributed to the ability of the coating slurry to infiltrate into the substrate,thereby bonding the fibers together and increasing the compactness of the 2D C/C composites.

Circ_0004592:An auxiliary diagnostic biomarker for gastric cancer

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)has a high mortality rate,and robust diagnostic biomarkers are currently lacking.However,the clinical relevance of circular RNAs(circRNAs)as GC biomarkers remains largely unexplored.AIM To evaluate the potential of novel circRNA circ_0004592 in the early screening and prognosis of GC.METHODS High-throughput sequencing of circRNAs was performed to screen for potential target molecules.Circ_0004592 expression was examined in GC tissues,cells,and plasma.Plasma samples were collected from healthy subjects’patients,as well as from patients with benign lesions,precancerous lesions,and GC,whereafter the diagnostic accuracy of circ_0004592 was evaluated.The correlation between circ_0004592 levels in plasma and clinicopathological data of patients with GC was further analyzed.RESULTS Circ_0004592 was upregulated in both the tissue and plasma of patients with GC.Further,circ_0004592 expression was higher in patients with precancerous lesions than in healthy controls while being highest in patients with GC.In the same patient,the postoperative plasma level of circ_0004592 was lower than that in the preoperative period.Moreover,circ_0004592 level was significantly correlated with tumor differentiation,tumor depth,and lymph node metastasis.The area under the curve(AUC)of plasma circ_0004592 exhibited high sensitivity and specificity for differentiating patients with GC from healthy donors.Diagnosis based on circ_0004592,carcinoembryonic antigen,and cancer antigen 199 achieved a superior AUC and was highly sensitive.CONCLUSION Plasma circ_0004592 may represent a potential non-invasive auxiliary diagnostic biomarker for patients with GC.

Effect of Ti_(p) Content on the Work Hardening and Softening Behavior of Mg-Zn-Ca Alloy

The Ti_(p)/ZX60 composites with different Ti_(p) contents were prepared by semi-solid stirring casting.After extrusion,the microstructure,work hardening and softening behavior of the Ti_(p)/ZX60 composites were analyzed compared with the ZX60(Mg-6Zn-0.2Ca)alloy.The results showed that the addition of Ti_(p) could not only promote the nucleation of dynamic recrystallized(DRXed)grains,but also be propitious to the refinement of DRXed grains.With increasing Ti_(p) content,the size of DRXed grains decreased accompanied with increasing volume fraction of DRXed grains.As the Ti_(p) content increased to 15 vol.%,the average size and volume fraction of DRXed grains reached to~0.32μm and 93.2%,respectively.Besides,both the strength and elongation were improved by the addition of Ti_(p).With increasing content of Ti_(p),a substantial increase in the strength was achieved with little change in the elongation.However,the elongation decreased sharply when the Ti_(p) content further increased to 15 vol.%.The addition of Ti_(p) led to an increase in the work hardening rate,which gradually increased with increasing Ti_(p) content.However,the softening rate did not demonstrate the same tendency with increasing Ti_(p) content.Unlike the conventional ceramic particles,the Ti_(p) can be deformed in coordination with the matrix alloy,which imparted a higher softening rate to the matrix alloy.Even though the softening rate improved as the Ti_(p) content increased from 5 to 10 vol.%,it dropped deeply as the Ti_(p) content increased to 15 vol.%owing to the fracture of Ti_(p) during extrusion.

Paleoclimatic application of spectral parameters to the eolian red clay of the Jianzha Basin,northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau

Reflectance spectroscopy is rapid,inexpensive,and non-destructive and can provide important information about the mineralogy of rocks and sediments.We measured the reflectance spectroscopy of Miocene red clay deposits on the northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau,with the aim of developing a rapid methodology for detecting paleoclimatic changes.We obtained visible/near-infrared(VNIR)and short-wave infrared(SWIR)spectroscopy data from the red clay in the Jianzha Basin,and analyzed their relationship with independent paleoclimatic records,including mineral contents and environmental magnetic parameters.The results show that the VNIR parameters,including D500,D900,R500,and R900(where D and R represent the depth and reflectance of the absorption peaks around 500 and 900 nm,respectively)are temperature-sensitive and correlated with the magnetic susceptibility,frequency-dependent magnetic susceptibility,and the marine δ^(18)O record.The results of frequency-domain analysis of the VNIR parameters show that they reflect climate change on orbital timescales.SWIR parameters,such as AS1400,D1400/D1900 and D1900(where AS represents the asymmetry of the absorption peaks around1400 nm),are correlated with the illite and montmorillonite content,and they are sensitive to the weathering intensity.The spectral parameters of the eolian red clay in the Jianzha Basin reflect regional climatic changes caused by the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau at~8.5 Ma and global climatic cooling at~7.2 Ma,and thus they are applicable as both regional and global paleoenvironmental indicators.

A strategy based on water soluble coal tar pitches to construct MnO_(2)@C composite materials with high electrochemical performance

The water soluble coal tar pitches(WS-CTPs)were successfully prepared and used to construct the MnO_(2)@C composite materials by a hydrothermal method.It is interestingly observed that the structures and morphologies of MnO_(2)@C materials can be controlled by controlling the dosages of WS-CTPs and KMnO4.Meanwhile,it is aware that MnO_(2)exists in the MnO_(2)@C materials in an amorphous state.Compared with MnO_(2),MnO_(2)@C materials output a remarkable improvement in electrochemical performance.For instance,MnO_(2)@C-0.3 shows the storage capacity at 965.7 mA h g^(−1)after 300 cycles at a current density of 0.1 A g^(−1).In addition,after 600 cycles at a current density of 1.0 A g^(−1),the storage capacity of MnO_(2)@C-0.3 still keeps 450.3 mA h g^(−1),indicating that MnO_(2)@C-0.3 owns tremendous cycle stability at a high current density.In view of the fact that the coal tar pitches possess great cost advantages,the strategy of using WS-CTPs as a carbon source to cover the metal oxides is a competitive way to expand the application of metal oxides in the fabrication of electrodes of LIBs.
